\"RATED PG: A PLAY REVIEW\" (FETESIO,MINA,VILLA)

INTRODUCTION

The play is called Rated: PG Directed by Maribel Legarda The designers in the play are Sound design Dodjie Fernandez, Production design Boni Juan, and for Costume design Ron Alfonso The play is written by Liza C. Magtoto

PLOT PLOT PLOT

Tonton the youngest son is playful and always gets in trouble like every other kid. He also shows sweetness to his hard-working parents and sister. “Rated: PG” by Peta shows insight into a child’s psychology and development stage in order for them to get a deeper understanding between parent and child, resulting in a more healthy family partnership. The play is about a mother and father doing everything to raise her children. It also shows different families how they treat and discipline their own children.

THEMES AND ISSUES

\"Rated:PG\" is a musical play performance it is an educational story revolving around a family tackling the struggles of a family and their unique approach and dealing with their problems it emphasizes the responsibilities of each member of the family Rated: PG by PETA was not based on a novel

ANALYSE CHARACTERS

The main characters are Joselle, the multitasking, and soft-hearted mother, Romy the father who is always busy and who believes in the effectiveness of the violent and harsh method of disciplining. Rosalie is the oldest daughter amongst the siblings and has a conflict with her mother, but her character is known for excelling in almost every activity she explores, especially during events at school. Tonton, the youngest son, is naturally the most playful member of the family. Although known for always getting in trouble or causing it, Tonton still respects and is kind towards his family.

The actors did very well, especially in portraying their roles. It feels real the way they talk to each other and showing their feelings in their acting with each other along with their singing. The way they talk, move and express their character was very outstanding. None of the characters did stutter or even hesitated to speak. They move and express their character by showing all the emotions they have make it more interesting. Joselle stands out the most due to her unmistakable positive energy surrounding the theater while she sings and dances

The story was positive and negative at the same time. It showed the realness of the opinions in terms of disciplining and raising children. The play had delivered a strong message regarding the effects of the different ways of disciplining. It has taught the characters and of course the audience how our way of disciplining greatly affects one’s life and morals. They showed and set an example on how they know how parents should utilize the power they hold over their children and how the children react to it.

The performance itself had its own unique and intriguing way of portraying the current and common parenting situations. They were able to display the different perspectives and opinions of the general mass in terms of disciplining children. One side believed in the disciplining method which requires violent actions whilst the other side opposes this idea, they compared and contrasted these popular opinions in a well-performed song. The actors did an exceptional execution of performing and expressing the message of the song/play.

The actress who played Josele was very persuasive when acting as the mother. The grouping, pace, timing, and mood was very convincing and accurate. They were able to calmly progress the play and smoothly express their message and story. This type of aura proves to be a way of making the theater experience more effective and believable.

Our response to the play was that the play was very active and that it was definitely appealing how they managed to keep a smooth and steady storyline. Their execution of the play enabled their important message to be perceived by the audience all the while also indulging the home-like aura of the play.

EVALUATE THE PERFORMER

we chose Tonton and Rosalie as our performers to evaluate because they stood out more at the performance. they are the chosen because they have been very good in their performances because in each moment you will see exactly the right and the emotions they released and the talent they showed. many siblings can relate to it and understand. showing anger and love to each other.

ELEMENTS OF THE PRODUCTION

Technical aspects The props and the costume of the show really helped the performance going. Lighting The lights depended on the mood of the music they were playing. The lights would point to the actors who were at the time talking and involved in the situation, mostly to the actors who are singing and dancing. The lighting was vital in properly showing the characters involved in the scene and unquestionably helps improve the performance of their storyline.

Sound The sounds are fit to the style and format of the play. It also fits in the situation so the audience will feel the emotion of the characters because of the tension of the sounds in the play. Costume Design The costume was perfect for each setting it held. The costume protracted their characters' roles and events in the play. Their ensembles and their designs played a big role in the performance of the actors in terms of representing the characters’ Set Design lifestyle. The setting is a perfect backdrop for the play because the play revolves around the daily life of a family and their daily struggles.
