B RU C E HASSON MMXXII

BRUCE HASSON’S new works on silk originates from his renown collections of prints, paintings and sculptures. Hasson has been casting bronze and steel sculptures over four decades. Through his prints has evolved a passion for the art of silk. Silk is a soft organic material that captures light reflecting the delicate nuances of colors within design. In the form of a scarf or wall piece its soft and calming surface is both visually and texturally captivating. The iridescent colors enhance the silk compositions into a marvelous visual journey. There is a magical quality to his work on silk. Silk as art offers a unique aesthetic rarely seen in other art forms. In 2018 Hasson began working on ephemeral imagery of woman against the impressionist background of classic pictorial European city maps, capturing the imagination of not only woman but men, children and everyone else. The themes capture the beauty and attraction of some of the world’s greatest cities which also have their roots in feminine archetypes, Rome, Athens and Paris. 2

Feminine archetypes gave birth to extraordinary cultures and civilization. Hasson’s works on silk revisits this rich SILK cultural legacy with a colorful and modern visual expression. Hasson is introducing a new found beauty to the world of art, that can be exhibited or worn as a scarf or shawl as one pleases. The touch of these silks is both a rare delight and pleasurable luxury. Hasson’s silks are printed in both the United Kingdom known for their prints in the European fashion industry and in Italy at a family run business printing silk for several decades. Hasson’s artisans utilize a color palette inspired by Pompeii frescos, printed on the highest quality mulberry silk. Each silk is carefully hand hemmed, roulette finishing in France and Italy to complete the individual piece. Hasson approves each work and numbers them as limited editions to be made available to collectors. The collection of silk pieces in this catalog represent the beginning of a new direction in art, color and imagery for the artist. 3
