ATES A LAetLteeardFerrombetter than Hello everyone, agents on site! Firstly, I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU for your continued dedication in serving our customers and Ashish Labroo captains. The work you are doing in Care is well rec- ognized and appreciated by the entire Careem lead- ership team. I know we’ve faced tough challenges in the past months including major backlogs and ADMA issues. The good news is these challenges remind everyone at Careem why Care exists - to support customers and captains in times of need. These challenges are also gifts be- cause they give us an opportunity to be of service. We all know giving our customers and captains awe- some support experiences is a key differentiator for Careem. That’s why , it’s important we each make a sincere effort to “WOW” them in every single interac- tion. This is our way of going to the moon and beyond! It also gives us the opportunity to show we’re taking ownership of the customer/captain’s issue regardless of which part of the product or policies it relates to. I’ve been able to spend time with some of you in Cairo and Jordan to learn first hand where you need sup- port. I’ve enjoyed getting to know you better and I’m encouraged by what I’ve seen. We have some exciting things coming up in the next few months including in app chat for customers and improvements to support options in ADMA to name a few. I encourage you to check out the Care Updates article for all the details. All of this makes me optimistic we will become stronger and stronger in the coming months. Yalla, lets be the best CARE organization in the region.

ISSUE 03/ AUGUST 2018 Nabataean Arabs, is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world Petra, the great Ancient City that lies half-hidden in the wind-blown landscape in southern Jordan, is one of the world’s most treasured Unesco Heritage Sites. Voted by popular ballot in 2007 as one of the ‘New Seven Wonders of the World’, it has retained its magnetism even through times of strife in the wider region. Entrance to the city of Petra is through the Siq, a narrow gorge, over 1km in length, which is flanked on either side by soaring, 80m high cliffs. Just walking through the Siq is an experience in itself. The col- ours and formations of the rocks are dazzling. As you reach the end of the Siq you will catch your first glimpse of Al-Khazneh (Treasury). IThe long walk through this can- yon is an exciting journey that is well worth a visit, not only for the historical treasures that lie be- neath, but also for being one of the unique geological landscapes in the World. LanguagesISSUE 03/ AUGUST 2018A language is a means of communication among living beings. However, this article dealswith some information about human languages. They are about 6500 languages in the wholeworld; 2000 of them have less than 1000 speakers. I think we only hear about 25 of them.Linguists divided all of these languages into groups called language families. Our Arabic language, for example, is a Semitic language from the major family “Afro-Asiatic”. It has some sisters, like He-brew, Maltese, Swahili and other extinct languages like Akkadian, Assyrian, Aramaic, Canaanian,Babylonian, Phoenician, ... etc. All these languages share a good amount of vocabulary and gram-matical rules. As a clear example, if you hear a Hebrew speaker, you can notice a lot of similar vo-cabulary with Arabic. Don’t forget that there are some common words between Arabic on one sideand Indian, Urdu, Persian, Turkish, Indonesian and to some extent Bosnian. However, this doesn’tmean they are all from the same family. This is because of approximate regions, historical eventslike conquests or invasions as well as sharing the same religion as Muslim countries - whatevertheir language is - should understand even some Arabic. Since we can speak English, it is good toknow it is a low Germanic language like Afrikaans in South Africa and Dutch of Holland.By Abdelmoaty Mohamed It is a cousin of German and other Germanic languages like Bret- on, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, Gaelic and Scandinavian languages which are Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic and Swedish. There are some languages of which the tone seems musi- cal like Spanish and Italian which are Romance languages like Portuguese, French and Romanian. They are Ro- mance because they were mere dialects used former- ly in the Roman Empire which spoke Latin, which is an Indo-European language. This language family “Indo-European is very big as it includes Slavic languages ( Russian - Bulgarian - Macedonian - Polish - Serbo-Croatian - Beylorussian - Ukra- nian ...etc) and languages used in the Indian subcontinent: Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Kashmiri, Punjabi, Sindhi, Rajasthani langugaes, Persian in Iran which has a minority in India, Bengali and extinct languages like Saramatian, Sogdian and Bacterian. As a conclusion, this is not de- tailed information about the world languages but a quick look. Hoping the article added some new and useful information piec- es to you.18 WINK Magazine
