Despite adequate food production, the UN has reported that about 190 million Indians remain undernourished. It is further estimated that value of food wastage in India is around ₹92,000 crores per annum. one-third of all food in India is wasted or gets spoilt before it is eaten. In India, starvation is one of the major causes of death. This heart-wrenching reality starkly highlights the pressing need for a transformative solution to eradicate hunger and food wastage in our nation. What is preventing technology from effectively addressing hunger, despite greatest advancements? Hunger is not solely a technological issue; it is deeply intertwined with social, economic, political, and environmental factors. Challenge: The challenge is to bridge the gap between surplus food availability and food insecurity by creating an efficient and effective platform that connects food donors, such as individuals, restaurants, and caterers, with charitable organizations, NGOs, and those in need. The aim is to prevent food wastage and ensure that leftover food is distributed to hungry individuals, thereby contributing to reducing food waste and addressing hunger in India.

Proposed Solution LeftOver Love Leftover Love The \"Leftover Love\" web app is designed to tackle the issue of food waste while also promoting food donation and reducing household wastage. The app consists of two main features: 1.Food Donation Platform: The first part of the app aims to connect individuals, restaurants, and businesses with surplus food to local charities, shelters, and food banks that can distribute the food to those in need. Individuals, restaurants, and businesses can create listings of surplus food they have available for donation. They can specify the type of food, quantity, expiration date (if applicable), and pick-up location. Charities, shelters, and food banks can browse the listings and request the food they need. The donors can then accept the requests and arrange for pick-up or drop-off. The app would also utilise geolocation to match available food donations with nearby charities, shelters, and food banks. For example: If a restaurant in Hyderabad wants to donate food, so after it lists the donation on website all the charities within Hyderabad get a notification that someone is ready to donate.
