LAGUNA BLANCA SCHOOL SPRING BENEFIT SATURDAY, APRIL 23, 2022 HOPE RANCH SANTA BARBARA | CALIFORNIA Special thanks to our Event Program Sponsors Stefanie & David Jackson

thank you to the laguna community Dear Laguna Families & Supporters, Community and excitement are the words that we used when we decided to co-chair the Spring Benefit for our beloved Laguna Blanca. It has been two years since we last came together in person as a community, but make no mistake, our community has been a source of strength even when we were apart. It has endured, it has grown, it has even thrived during this period of uncertainty and tonight is in celebration of all of the incredible people who made that happen. Our exceptional Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools were the inspiration behind our theme-Laguna Blanca truly is THE Triple Crown of Educational Excellence. And tonight will mark the largest attendance that the Spring Benefit has ever had, which is the truest testament to the community that each and every one of us has helped to build. We would like to extend our immense gratitude and appreciation to the Laguna faculty and staff who have gone above and beyond in adapting and adjusting to keep our children learning and growing. A huge thank you also goes to our big-hearted sponsors for their support and our hard working volunteers for their dedication and guidance in making tonight so special. Each year, the Spring Benefit raises generous funds for the education of our children. We thank you for your unwavering commitment. It is our hope that you enjoy a mint julep, socialize with old and new friends, and have a spectacular evening! NOW... IT'S OFF TO THE RACES & TIME TO CELEBRATE! Gratefully, Sara Loncki & Katy Powers Event Chairs

09 ICONIC & INSPIRATIONAL PORTRAIT BY RUSSELL YOUNG \"MAGNIFICENT SEVEN\" Laguna alumni parent and international pop artist, Russell Young is known for his large-scale silkscreen paintings of cultural icons. Russell Young is well known for his glitzy appropriations of famous imagery in American history. One of the many popular culture references that Young has appropriated is the image of seven Western cowboys riding atop a horse, The Magnificent Seven, an image inspired by the 1960 Western cinematic masterpiece of the same name. The Magnificent Seven is an iconic portrait of American ideals and iconography that represents masculinity and power. The image and cultural ideas from the American West, which act as a quintessential example of the American Dream, are a source of romanticizing and mythology for the country. However, Young builds his image with bold color choices and the use of diamond dust to emphasize the fictitious nature of these characters.
