LOT 524 50C 1936 DELAWARE. PCGS MS67+ CAC Premium quality to the fore! What a great looking, exceptionally preserved, essentially PRISTINE GEM. Brilliant, satiny mint luster gleams with a billowing vibrance throughout. Some mottled toning toward the periphery adds even more dimension to the very sharply struck devices. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 189, NGC109, CAC 79. The most recent example to sell brought $2,280 in June 2019 and another sold in the 2019 FUN auction for $3,120. The current Collectors Universe value is about the average of the two, at $2,750. Just a handful are graded finer at PCGS, none of which have ever sold in auction, but command a Guide value of $25,000. Good luck. PCGS# 9301 | ESTIMATE: $1,800+ LOT 525 50C 1936 GETTYSBURG. PCGS MS67+ CAC Of the 50 coins that make up a classic commemorative type set, those that make up the Civil War subset are among the most popular. The Gettysburg half dollar, is especially so, and in consistent demand from collectors. While it is a scarcer one with a mintage of nearly 27,000, you can easily find it in grades up to MS67, but in MS67+ and finer it is VERY RARE. Pearly-silver luster glows in the light on both sides. Traces of peripheral iridescent toning cling to the surfaces of this SUPERB example that has a bold eye appeal. PCGS 144, NGC 70, CAC 55. There are 18 graded 67+ at PCGS and just three finer in MS68. PCGS MS67+ CAC coins have sold in in the $5,170 to $9,400 range and the current Collectors Universe value is listed at $6,500. No MS68 has ever sold since 2007, where the last one sold for $48,875. A great looking coin bound for a great set of classic commems. PCGS# 9305 | ESTIMATE: $5,000+ LOT 526 50C 1936 LONG ISLAND. PCGS MS67 CAC This beautifully toned piece is just shy of being a killer runaway type of toner. Immaculate surfaces are super clean and smooth, even using a strong glass we can find no flaws. A strong luster enlivens the colors; both sides are evenly covered by a delightful mix of totally original colors from Mother Nature. Moderate to deeper shades of pearly-silver, reddish-orange, light gold, and variegated colors beam boldly from all over. All of the details are sharply struck with no slide marks seen anywhere (so typical for the date). The eye appeal is fabulous! PCGS 85, NGC 57, CAC 71. We sold an example in our March 2019 Regency Auction for $3,408. Only 15 are graded finer, all MS67+. We know this SUPERB GEM will attract fierce bidding. PCGS# 9322 | ESTIMATE: $2,200+ 249

LOT 527 50C 1936 LONG ISLAND. PCGS MS67+ CAC Tied for FINEST GRADED at PCGS, and a coin truly deserving of its lofty position on the Population Report. Every thing about this SUPERB GEM Long Island is stunning, high end, and original. Deep iridescent rainbow toning with exceptional swaths of green, lemon, and crimson around both sides! The toning is far and away richer than usually encountered and this coin does not have the tab outline that often interrupts the rainbow flow. Quality, color, and grade, all the factors that combine to make this one exceptional. Long Island halves were distributed in cardboard holders, and when left unmolested for long periods, the coins that remained in these old holders obtained beautiful multicolored toning. PCGS 100, NGC 67, CAC 71. PCGS has graded 15 in MS67+ and NONE FINER. There is a wide range of APRs, the most recent selling for $6,000 in a March 2019 Internet Only Auction, though there is a record for one in April 2013 for $32,900! Based on the APRs, we believe this SUPERB GEM could bring near the current Collectors Universe value of $9,500. Bound for the FINEST of Registry Sets, if you are looking for a high end example, be sure to bid on this beauty! PCGS# 9322 | ESTIMATE: $6,000+ LOT 528 LOT 529 50C 1934 MARYLAND. LOT 530 50C 1938-S OREGON. PCGS MS67+ CAC What a very high end, chiseled SUPERB GEM! Every detail is sharply struck up with full, complete definition that makes the devices stand out with exacting precision. The autumnal hued coloration in shades of amber-red clay and gold formed around the details, combined with a thick, frosty luster makes the devices seem to stand out in even fuller relief. The eye appeal is wonderful! PCGS 217, NGC 169, CAC 110. There are 26 graded MS67+. Recent examples have sold between $900 and $1,528 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is $1,150. Only 17 have been graded finer, and keep in mind that the last PCGS/CAC MS68 to sell realized nearly $6,500 nearly three years ago. This high end coin is worthy of placement in a very high end set of Classic Commems. PCGS# 9350 | ESTIMATE: $1,100+ LOT 531 50C 1915-S PANAMA-PACIFIC. PCGS MS67 CAC Looking for a totally original, lustrous SUPERB GEM for your set? Look no further-- your search ends with this beauty! Deep, original iridescent toning graces both sides of this SUPERB GEM Pan Pac half. Flawless surfaces show off a brilliant satin luster that glows through the toning and in between the details of the fully struck devices. Clearly this MS67 sat unmolested for ages in the original case of issue, which imparted a medley of deeper olive-tan and russet-violet patina that really pops out when the brilliance of the mint luster catches a light. PCGS 99, NGC 50, CAC 70. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $7,500 and the last one sold for $7,050 in our January 2019 Regency Auction and we sold a very similar looking MS67+ CAC in our May 2018 Regency Auction for $9,694. What a great example of this beautifully designed. Good luck! PCGS# 9357 | ESTIMATE: $7,500+ LOT 532 50C 1920 PILGRIM. FS-901. PCGS MS67 A gloriously lustrous SUPERB GEM that has a dusting of iridescent toning on both sides. Well struck and very eye appealing. The surfaces have a delightful pale gold and sky blue patina evenly dusted over the uber smooth, superb quality surfaces. The reverse die break variety. Very cool late reverse die state with a dramatic die break that goes through the central rigging and looks like an extra sail. PCGS 52, NGC 21. For the variety, PCGS has graded just this single coin as FINEST graded example. PCGS CoinFacts does not assign a value in such a high grade, nor are there any auction records that we can find. What an interesting piece for the advanced Commemorative collection. PCGS# 511602 | ESTIMATE: $1,200+ 251

LOT 541 25C 1870 J-890. PCGS PR65 RB CAC This gorgeous GEM example of this R-7+ Standard Silver pattern quarter is tied for FINEST honors at PCGS and is fresh to the market. Barber’s Liberty head wears a cap with three stars and hair tied in a ribbon, inscribed LIBERTY. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. The rich mirrors are a deep brick red color with overtones of magenta and violet. The eye appeal is spectacular and the surfaces are impeccable for the assigned grade. Indeed the only thing we see that might keep it from an even higher grade is a fleck or two hidden in the obverse legend. All the details are razor sharp too! PCGS 2, NGC 0, CAC 1. This is the first example enumerated by Andrew Pollock in his reference, being ex Superior’s June 1977 sale of the Dr. Couch Collection, lot 416; Bowers and Ruddy’s July 1981 sale of the William R. Sieck Collection, lot 141; and Mid-America’s September 1985 San Diego Sale, lot 997. We cannot trace it since, and housed in a second generation holder, it may well have been off the market since then--the definition of FRESH. The Simpson coin that we sold in January 2017 sold for $6,463. Worthy of a very strong bid, this coin is bound for a specialized Standard Silver pattern collection. PCGS# 71134 | ESTIMATE: $6,000+ LOT 542 25C 1870 J-914. PCGS PR65 RB CAC Tied for FINEST KNOWN and arguably the nicer of the two, with itís outstanding pedigree and nearly FULL RED surfaces! Swirling hues of gorgeous pale rose and magenta, dance across shimmering, deeply mirrored fields, in an aesthetic blend that is delightful to the eye. The crisp design elements exhibit thick, unbroken mint frost accented by wisps of ice blue and soft pink hues. Listed as a Rarity-7 and one of a mere 9 extant specimens! How can a coin this rare, be so affordable? A mystery that adds to the allure of the pattern series, and makes it such a fascinating pursuit for the collecting enthusiast. This piece is a piece of tremendous rarity and beauty for a fraction of the price of a standard issue from the regular issue series. If you have never considered collecting patterns, this coin should convince you of the unique opportunity this series presents to put together a world class collection without breaking the bank! PCGS 1, NGC 1, CAC 1. There has not been an example of this VERY RARE Standard Silver pattern quarter in this grade since 1994! The only J-914 to sell in auction this DECADE was a PR64 BN in our June 2016 Premier Session. Unpriced in Collectors Universe in this lofty state of preservation, we think our estimate will prove conservative when the hammer falls! Good luck! PCGS# 71158 | ESTIMATE: $3,500+ LOT 543 25C 1870 J-923. PCGS PR66 CAM CAC Ex Denali Collection. Tied with just the Bob Simpson example as FINEST J-923 graded at PCGS. A very tough R-7+ Standard Silver pattern, struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. A gorgeous, boldly contrasted superb gem from this specialized collection of 1870 patterns. Well struck devices are very frosted and contrast nicely against highly reflective mirrored surfaces. PCGS 2, NGC 1, CAC 2. Nearly two years ago, we sold this coin for $7,628 in our December 2017 Regency Auction, and in the May 2017 Regency Auction, we sold the Bob Simpson coin for $8,519. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $11,000. Bound for an advanced Pattern collection! Good luck! PCGS# 800082 | ESTIMATE: $7,000+ 254

LOT 544 25C 1871 J-1096. PCGS PR66+ CAM CAC A truly magnificent example of Longacre’s Seated Indian Princess design, the FINEST known of this Rarity-7- pattern quarter (7-12 known). We love Longacre’s elegant design that shows Liberty presented as a seated Indian Princess holding a pole with a Liberty cap on top. She supports a globe with two flags draped behind her. This design was implemented by William Barber after James Lonagcre died. An interesting anomaly about this coin is that it does NOT say UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on either the obverse or reverse. Fully struck up in nearly high relief definition, the frosted obverse devices stand out in full 3-D effect against the deeply and highly reflective watery mirrored fields. A warm, glowing amber-orange and gold toning shows off some icy blue and deep silver color on both sides. The mirrors are icy smooth and completely devoid of anything but mint made die polish lines. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. Finer than the Eliasberg coin which is graded PR66 by PCGS and impounded in the Simpson Collection. This remarkable, SUPERB GEM is better looking than the NGC PR67 CAC Newman Coin that sold in April 2013 for $10,575. This coin was the NGC PR67 that sold in the 2018 ANA auction for $13,200. In PR66 (not CAM) the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $15,000. This amazing SUPERB GEM belongs in a WORLD CLASS Pattern set and should bring a record bid when it crosses the block. PCGS# 682923 | ESTIMATE: $17,000+ 255

LOT 545 $3 1875 PCGS J-1436 GILT. PR64 CAC This is a wonderful example of this VERY RARE R-7+ die trial of this important KEY DATE $3 gold piece! Struck from the regular $3 gold dies in copper then gilt. These off-metal strikings are listed as die trials in the literature, but Saul Teichman of uspatterns.com suggests that they more likely were struck for contemporary collectors and sold in full sets from the cent to double eagle. Due to the rarity of the Proof Only 1875 $3 in all grades, some of these pieces were gilt to simulate the regular gold strikings. The watery reflection of the fields comes through the gilding in the fields and the reliefs show a lovely glossy finish. Sharply struck on both sides the devices stand out wonderfully. There is a touch of an iridescence and a tiny fleck or two, which attest to the excellent originality and add to the eye appeal. PCGS 1, NGC 1, CAC 1. We are only able to trace a single example of this Judd # that was gilt as having sold in auction--this one. At the time of both prior auction appearances, it was NGC-graded. As we noted in the description of the J-1436 we sold in June 2019, we believe this coin is also the example that was in the Sussex Collection Auction, Bowers & Merena, June 1990, lot 249. The most recent of Judd-1436 to sell was the PCGS PR65 RB CAC that we sold for a record $73,438 in our June 2019 Regency Auction. Keep in mind that a Proof 1875 $3 gold piece, regardless of grade is going to be a six figure coin, this gilt copper Pattern $3. Missing from essentially every major pattern auction of the last generation and missing from essentially every pattern collection. Truly a coin that is under appreciated and should be worth more!
