Either way demand will be strong and we will see spirited bidding competition. PCGS# 8525 | EST: $2,500+ LOT 395 $10 1861-S PCGS AU53 CAC As the Civil War was breaking out in the east, the San Francisco mint was producing coins on a limited basis for west coast commerce. Only 15,500 eagles were struck for circulation, and that is where virtually every example struck went, with PCGS CoinFacts estimating a total of 80 surviving in all grades. The ONLY coin that survives in Uncirculated grade is an NGC MS61. This is a wholesome, lightly worn, original, essentially CHOICE AU example of this RARE date. A glass will be useful in locating some minor contact, which is appropriate for the amount of circulation on this coin. The devices show strong detail with just light friction on the high points. The warm gold patina in the protected areas and lighter honey wheat color in the centers is very attractive. PCGS 11, NGC 15, CAC 3. The most recent PCGS-graded coin to sell was NOT CAC approved and sold for $15,275 back in the 2017 ANA auction. The only CAC-approved example to sell was an NGC coin back in 2012. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $18,500 and we could see this coin selling for more. Fewer than 20, including no doubt duplicate submissions, have ever graded finer at PCGS, the finest an AU58+. Do not let this important Civil War date rarity slip away! PCGS# 8634 | EST: $15,000+

Boldly lustrous surfaces are have a strong mint brilliance on both sides with generous traces of semi-reflective flash. While we note some scattered contact and bag marks, but the surfaces are not at all hacked up. Old toning graces both sides, giving this lovely coin a “Euro” fresh look. The eye appeal is bold. PCGS 105, NGC 86. The last non-CAC example sold for $12,000 in October 2021 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is $13,250. Only nine coins are graded finer at PCGS, so this pleasing coin will fit into any higher ranked set of CC $10s. PCGS# 8720 | EST: $8,000+ LOT 397 $10 1901 PCGS MS66+ CAC A condition census example of this date and a wonderfully preserved, borderline SUPERB GEM example. A bold frosty, satiny sheen radiates boldly on both sides of this sharply struck beauty. The surfaces are free of any serious distractions anywhere, and even with the aid of a strong glass, even the most minor tick or giggle is virtually invisible. PCGS 60, NGC 824, CAC 14. There are just 7 in MS66+ at PCGS with a mere 4 finer. The only MS66+ CAC sold in December 2018 for $13,200. None of the MS67s are CAC approved, and none have ever sold in auction, so if you need an example for a top CAC Registry Set, do not let this important opportunity pass you by! PCGS# 8747 | EST: $10,000+

LOT 398 $10 1901-S PCGS MS64+ CAC A boldly lustrous, pleasingly original, and sharply lustrous example that in the old days would have been called a GEM. The eye appeal is high end. PCGS 4779, NGC 4562, CAC 538. There are 409 examples in MS64+ at PCGS. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $2,500 and we would not be shocked if this lovely coin brought that or more in today’s strong market. PCGS# 8749 | EST: $2,000+ LOT 399 $10 1907 INDIAN, NO MOTTO. PCGS MS66 Wonderfully original and boldly lustrous, this is a real GEM example of this first year of type. Fully struck devices show off razor sharp definition and every detail is rendered to its finest. The brilliance ranges from velvety and satin like to rolling cartwheels, vividly accenting the lovely golden surfaces. We have looked this coin over and again, and cannot find any flaw worthy of mention, and are not really sure what CAC saw that precluded getting their coveted bean. The eye appeal is great! PCGS 121, NGC 162. The most recent sold in February 2022 for $13,200 and before that, one sold for $15,000 in November 2021. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $27,000. Though saved in some quantity as the first year of issue, the 1907 No Motto $10 is VERY RARE any finer than the currently offered MS66. Good luck. PCGS# 8852 | EST: $12,000+ LOT 400 $10 1908 MOTTO. PCGS MS64+ CAC Augustus St. Gaudens’ original designs purposefully left off the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, as President Roosevelt felt that having the name of the deity on currency that could be used for immoral purposes, was inappropriate. It was not until 1908 when the motto was put on the Indian Head $10s and St. Gaudens $20s. This is a borderline GEM example that has the initial visual impact of a higher grade. Boldly lustrous with a brilliant golden sheen, the surfaces are generally clean overall, and the devices show off razor sharp definition to the details. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 403, NGC 187, CAC 56. There are 31 in MS64+. We sold one in December 2019 for $4,818, and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $5,000, and it jumps to $12,500 in MS65. This near-GEM will see strong bidding and will likely find itself hammering in the spread. Good luck! PCGS# 8859 | EST: $4,200+

PCGS# 8871 | EST: $2,200+ LOT 403 $10 1913 PCGS MS65 CAC Despite a generally sizable mintage of 442,000, this date is remarkably scarce in MS64 or higher grades. In MS65 it is RARE and VERY RARE any finer. This GEM 1913 $10 is wholly original and very visually pleasing. Sharply impressed devices stand out boldly accented by a rich, glowing frosty brilliance. There are some teeny contact marks that account for the assigned grade, but they have minimal impact on the visual quality. PCGS 88, NGC 87, CAC 21. We sold the most recent example for $8,225 in October 2020. Both the PCGS Price Guide and the CAC CPG list a value of $11,500 in MS65. Fewer than three dozen are graded higher. Just a handful have been graded at PCGS finer, than this wonderful, essentially CHOICE example. A deep, orange-gold patina is choice and original, accented by a brilliant and bold underlying luster. This coin has a classic “Euro-gold” look, seen on freshly imported gold coins that have been in overseas bank vaults for generations. The devices are well struck with boldly defined details. Mildly abraded surfaces as typically seen there are only a few graded finer, and this coin ranks among the PCGS CoinFacts Condition Census. PCGS 28, NGC 18. No doubt there is much duplication here, as evidenced by the fact that none have sold in nearly seven years--the last PCGS MS62 sold in September 2015! An NGC-graded MS62 sold in February 2021 for $16,800 and the market is stronger today! The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $21,000. Only a handful are graded finer at PCGS, the finest being a 63+. The ONLY MS63 graded by PCGS to ever sell in auction was sold over a decade ago, and would likely cost over $50,000 were one to come up for auction today! PCGS# 8982 | EST: $4,200+ PCGS# 8916 | EST: $3,600+ LOT 409 $20 1890-CC PCGS MS61 This is a popular date Carson City double eagle, a generally pleasing Mint State coin from this old wild west mint. These large gold coins bearing the CC mintmark evoke images from the classic western films of gun slingers, card games, saloons, etc. The presently offered piece has just some very minor traces of contact, and some ancient, directional hairlines that account for the assigned grade. A bold satiny frost enlivens the surfaces. There is a planchet flaw, as struck, between the date and star 13 on the obverse that we also mention for the sake of accuracy, but overall the eye appeal is nice for a coin of this grade. PCGS 131, NGC 95. We think there is some duplication on the Population Reports in MS61 and MS62, in hopes of getting a MS63 grade. The most recent PCGS MS61 sold in the 2022 FUN auction for $11,700 and the current Collectors Universe value is listed at $13,500. Expect strong bidding when this wild west relic crosses the block. Only a few tiny, trivial traces of contact keeps this GEM from the SUPERB category. PCGS 7055, NGC 2805, CAC 599. PCGS has graded 318 in MS66+ (no doubt these figures include duplication of submissions in hopes of crossing NGC to PCGS or getting a 67 grade). There are fewer than three dozen graded higher. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $7,500 and the market today is much stronger than it was in September 2021 when the last PCGS/CAC example sold in auction. Note that any MS67 is a five figure coin, with PCGS/CAC examples realizing over $30,000! What a great coin to put away, whether it is your collecting focus, or just looking to add some gold to your holdings; either way, demand is huge for a coin like this. PCGS# 9186 | EST: $6,000+

LOT 428 $20 1928 PCGS MS66+ CAC A gorgeous, nearly SUPERB GEM quality example of the final “collectible” Saint. Every other date from 1929 onward is RARE to VERY RARE and unobtainable for most collectors. This PQ 1928 is gorgeous and is from one of the hottest areas of numismatics today, PCGS/CAC 20th century gold. Deeper orange-gold surfaces have a warm, vibrant glow and bold luster. Sharply struck with full, crisp definition on both sides. The surfaces are smooth, clean and free of distracting marks of any kind. The eye appeal is off the charts. PCGS 3579, NGC 1473, CAC 352. There are 273 in MS66+ at PCGS and very scarce finer. The most recent sold for $9,000 in October 2021 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $7,500. In today’s market a PCGS MS67 CAC example would cost $30,000+. Bound for a great holding of U.S. gold. PCGS# 9189 | EST: $6,000+ LOT 429 $20 1928 NGC MS67 Vivid, vibrant, and brilliant, this MS67 1928 Saint has it all! What a great looking coin with a bold mint bloom and lustrous surfaces that gleam boldly all over. The devices are razor sharp in strike and the surfaces are remarkably clean; we can find some some very minor contact with the aid of a strong glass, but they are invisible overall to the naked eye and have a negligible effect on the outstanding eye appeal. PCGS 104, NGC 101. Only two have ever graded higher at NGC. The most recent NGC MS67 sold in November 2021 for $16,800 and the current Collectors Universe value is listed at $22,500. Worthy of any SUPERB gold holding or type set and it would not shock us if this beauty sold for a strong bid. PCGS# 9189 | EST: $14,000+

LOT 430 25C 1893 ISABELLA. PCGS MS67+ This is a VERY HIGH END and beautiful SUPERB GEM Isabella! Not only is this issue EXTREMELY RARE in this lofty state of preservation, but the eye appeal is off the charts amazing! The surfaces are essentially FLAWLESS, even when using a strong glass we are unable to find a single mark of any kind that distracts the eye. Typically these come dark and dull, but this one is NOT typical! A strong satiny luster glows from the fields, enlivening the near monster color. Both sides have a deeper tangerine-rose gold in the centers and blending into an electric blue at the rims. Every detail is sharply impressed, fully defined, and showing no weakness anywhere. The eye appeal is sensational! PCGS 13, NGC 2. It has been over two years since one sold and the market for top quality commemoratives is much stronger today than it was then. This is a near twin to the monster we sold in March 2018 for $16,450 and while PCGS has graded seven finer, any MS68 will cost $50,000 or more. This is a real prize for any classic commemorative collector. PCGS# 9220 | EST: $16,000+ LOT 431 50C 1935 BOONE. PCGS MS67+ CAC High end and luxuriously satiny. This Boone is tied for second FINEST graded at PCGS with just two finer, and ranks among the best survivors of this low (10,000) mintage classic commem. A thick, satiny frost glimmers and gleams boldly on both sides. An arc of earthy, orange-gold tone clings to the rims, melding into a lighter gold and finally a pearly silver. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 90, NGC 46, CAC 30. There are 13 graded 67+ and just two in MS68 are graded finer by that service. The most recent example realized $3,720 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $3,500. Neither MS68 has ever sold in auction, but we suspect that if one did, it would bring five figures. Finally, after years of stagnating values, there are signs of life in the upper grades of this series, and we know this coin will see strong bidding. Bound for a great set! PCGS# 9258 | EST: $3,000+

LOT 432 50C 1893 COLUMBIAN. PCGS MS67+ CAC WOW! This is not just a high grade and beautifully preserved Columbian Expo half dollar, but it is also tied for FINEST graded by PCGS, making it an ideal coin for the #1 PCGS Registry Set of Classic Commemoratives. The PRISTINE quality surfaces are emblazoned with a strong underlying brilliance that brings out the impressive toning on both sides. The obverse displays a mix of blue and rose hues while the reverse has an original brilliant silver center, surrounded by a frame of delicate peripheral toning. The strike is as sharp as can be and the eye appeal is off the charts amazing. PCGS 48, NGC 42, CAC 20. There are just seven in MS67+ and NONE FINER at PCGS. The only one to sell brought $9,000 back in the 2020 FUN auction, and the commemorative market has become more robust over the last two years. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $12,000. With NONE FINER, we would not be shocked if this coin exceeded that level. Good luck. Rarely do they appear in higher grades and in MS66, this type is extremely elusive, and EXCESSIVELY RARE any finer. The present GEM MS66 is a happy exception to the typical example. A bold satiny luster glows warmly in the fields. The surfaces are remarkably clean, free of all but the most microscopic ticks visible only with the aid of a strong glass. The devices are very sharp, with crisply defined details on both sides. A delicate iridescent pastel toning can be seen gently dusted across the surfaces attesting to the originality and high end eye appeal of the present offering. What a great opportunity for the advanced collector of these popular Classic Commemoratives. PCGS 18, NGC 32. There is a wide spread between PCGS and NGC graded coins, but we think this one will certainly sell in the spread for sure. We love this “old friend,” a coin we offered back in our September 2019 Regency Auction, where it was cataloged in lot 536, as: “Very eye appealing! We love the look of this SUPERB GEM. Satiny brilliant surfaces glow with a strong luster which is framed by a rich orange-gold tone that was imparted by long term storage in an old album. The vibrantly lustrous surfaces radiate all over accenting the deep blue, rose, crimson, and lavender toning. Sharply struck. The surfaces have some minor traces of ticks that account for the grade. None of these are too serious, and have minimal impact on the eye appeal. PCGS 89, NGC 65. The most recent example to sell in auction realized $10,350 in December 2021. Prior to that, one sold for $12,000 in June 2021. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $12,000. Just two dozen are graded finer, and they become quite pricey any finer. Good luck.
