Celebrating in Good Times, Supporting in Challenging Times

Honoring the AsiaBest Workplaces™ in The COVID-19 pandemic is a challenge facing organizations across the globe and it puts a premium on being a people-first, inclusive culture. We honor the companies that earned places on our ranking of Asia’s Best Workplaces™. When the pandemic started to spread and impact our lives and businesses globally, we reached out to our Best Workplaces and asked them in real-time, how have they reached out to support their people and their customers. Reading these accounts, we know our Best Workplaces are not only leaders in their respective industries, but they demonstrate heart and practical care in all they do.

The safety of our employees is paramount and we are introducing several measures at a local level to safeguard their health and well-being during these challenging times. To protect and motivate our workforce, we have distributed care packages and also organized virtual employee engagement initiatives to keep spirits up. Hands, vehicles keys, locks and controls, and scanners are being sanitized frequently, frontline staff are to wear masks and/ or gloves as instructed by local health authorities, and customers can choose contactless delivery due to social distancing measures.

At SAP, the well-being & safety of our colleagues, their families and the larger community are our priority. We took proactive measures early on to safeguard the health and safety of our people - that included having employees work from home, and moving in-person events to virtual platforms. To provide support on continuous learning, we expanded learning opportunities through innovative & interactive educational content for students and professionals. SAP has also extended support by offering infrastructure, virtual volunteering and pro-bono consulting to our communities and governments. We recognize that this time is especially difficult for the vulnerable population in our societies, we are working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and government bodies to address pressing issues such as food scarcity. Our communities need our support now more than ever and we remain committed to propelling economic development of women and youth especially in rural areas, and continue to explore new possibilities every day to help contribute to building a better world.

At Hays, we believe that at the heart of the organization is its people; and never has this been more important than at times like these, where businesses are facing unprecedented disruptions and challenges. Our commitment to take all necessary measures to protect the health and safety of our colleagues is our number one priority, alongside delivering our services to the high standards our customers expect of us. To do this, we have taken several localized measures to support our employees in different regions; including immediately enabling remote working measures and rapidly ramping up our IT capabilities to enact our business continuity plans. We have also adapted our ways of working in accordance to the robust and flexible plans we have in place to support our colleagues and customers during uncertainty. It is efforts like these that truly make Hays stand out as a great place to work.

The health and well-being of our employees and families remain a top priority and we have a live webinar series that broadcasts twice a day, called B-Well Together, where we invite industry luminaries to speak with our employees about well-being. Our CEO has committed to our employees that we will not conduct any significant layoffs over the next 90 days. To aid and support our community, we developed the Salesforce Care COVID-19 response package where small businesses can get free access to our technology for 90 days. Health systems are also included in the response package where they are able to leverage technology and data for free for 6 months.

Agilent is committed to providing a safe environment for our employees, their families and the communities in which we operate. We have asked our 16,000 employees to work at home where possible to reduce transmission risks and to keep them safe. And they are authorized to purchase additional equipment if needed. Our Human Resources and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) teams have detailed processes in place to support our employees, including loosening of sickness and time off policies for those who need to self-isolate, fall ill, or needs to make other work-life adjustments for child-care and elderly-care. Some Agilent employees might be unable to perform work from their homes. All our sites remain open, and we have taken additional precautions to protect our workforce. At our manufacturing sites, we have introduced split shifts where possible to minimize transmission risks.

At PayPal India and Greater China, we continue to pay employees who can’t work because they are sick or need to take care of someone who is sick. We’re also asking managers to accommodate those with childcare or family care challenges by developing flexible working arrangements to prioritize work-life balance. We have sent out surveys for employees to share feedback regularly, so we can determine what additional measures may be needed during this time. Our senior leadership team meets daily to discuss those results and other top of mind issues to make sure our employees get what they need. At the end of the day, policy changes and employee outreach can help ease burdens, but they don’t erase the anxiety many of us are feeling. Sometimes that requires a more personal touch.

Amid the COVID-19 crisis, teams across NVIDIA are contributing to the relief efforts and sharing tools, expertise, and technology with gaming partners, medical researchers, and scientists to accelerate their understanding of the coronavirus and help inform a response. NVIDIA’s genomics team is offering free access to our Parabricks genome analysis toolkit so researchers can sequence and analyze genomes 50X faster. Our healthcare team is collaborating with leading medical institutes to develop AI models to detect and highlight infections. And we’ve inspired gamers to share the GPUs in their gaming rigs to help configure the largest distributed supercomputer in the world to run Folding@Home.

Many support and special programs have been created for our employees, one of the programs called Crucial Skills During COVID-19. Under this program a session called ‘Energy Management while working remotely’ was conducted by our own L&D experts keeping our energies high during these difficult times. Human Resources guided a special discussion with ‘Buddies’ who were buddying new employees who onboarded virtually for the first time. Live Health Sessions like ‘Power Mornings’ with international health and fitness Coach, ‘Well-being Hacks’ and ‘Managing Family Dynamics while WFH’ by parenting experts are scheduled to support our diverse workforce throughout this crisis.

“Every single day, especially during times of uncertainty, our family-first culture- not only for our employees but for our customers and communities – will always remain our top priority. In the spirit of transparency, communication, and caring, our leadership team is connecting with employees on a daily basis to ensure everyone feels safe, supported, and informed. We are introducing programs to help support our families too, as our work from home approach may have companionship like children on our laps or pets hanging around. The good news is that many of our teams, including our operations, services, and support teams have long been adept at working virtually, and I am so proud of how the rest of our teams across the globe have learned from each other and embraced this new normal of work.” - Aron Ain CEO of Kronos
