4 Wh What if humans disappeared from the music curation scene, and we only relied on algorithms and AI to discover new music? This question burned my mind when I started writing vol. 2’s rst lines in April 2023. And it did until I wrote the last line. As humanity discovers the wonders these technologies can gift us and the lifesaving changes they can bring to our messy world’s table, I wonder where we will nd our place in this new confusing equation. Will we end with a quite perfect one, or will we stop relying on our humanity to let a perfectly ethical technology be in charge? My love for music and writing is the scope of my re ection here. For the past years, I’ve witnessed how we have changed our way of discovering music. We’ve jumped from the visit to the record store, DJ sets, high-quality radio & TV shows, and friends’ whispers to a devotion to the most streamed sounds, the latest hype or a lazy ride through our favorite platform’s perfectly tuned algorithm to cook going- in-circles’ playlists. With at the core of our shared love for music, dedicated lovers are still going beyond borders to nd the next gem. We changed our way of meeting it, but the crowds happiness I witnessed these past months proves that we still love music as hard as we always did. We let technology guide us | sometimes too much |, but you reading this shows we’re still open to (re)discovering music through the senses of another human being. This, at least, is what I strongly believe. Following its 2022’s rst, | wordstobemusic | vol.2 invites you to discover what happens when a live performance inspires verses in a music lover’s mind. A way to approach its impact on our brain through creativity and, maybe, discover artists and places you’ve never met before. if iflf if if

| CISUMEBOTSDROW |5 For our travel through live music at Swiss festivals, ff fl I curated a selection of XXX artists that I hope you’ll enjoy. I wish this selection to showcase a wide range of genres, | not always the most obvious ones |, and let you meet rising musicians and yesterday’s legends. This year’s curation wasn’t evident for the music lover I am, as the musical road I’m personally on isn’t touring around here. It led me to look beyond what I would have wished to curate and open my brain to other vibrations. Along the way, I met new harmonies that brought musical shades I wouldn’t have met otherwise, legends that always bring heartfelt joy, and, nowadays’ stars. As your getaway is about to start, please make yourself comfortable, away from our world’s noise. Dive yourself into the playlist, let the words carry you away, and feel your mind imagine new sceneries. This year | wordstobemusic | o ers you… A realm where poetry, in a warm dance, evolves in freedom | life has enough rules | and, as the harmonies y in circle in our minds, carries you to our perfectly imperfect words of music. Your mind, free, at last. Thank you for choosing a poetic way to (re)discover music. I wish you a pleasant ride. S.

8 In the picturesque town of Morges, Switzerland, the Théâtre de Beausobre set the stage for a performance that transported music lovers to a di erent world. It was March 2023 when blues and creole harmonies enveloped the air, courtesy of The Two, a Swiss-Mauritian duo. Unveiling their second album, ”SADÉLIA,” the band immersed the audience in an enchanting imaginary jungle’s atmosphere. THE Drawing from a fusion of genres rooted in both present and ancient cultures, The Two rank among the bands that make you feel there‘s more to a song than its notes, rhythms, and overall vibe. With each enchanting note that lled the theatre, music lovers seemed to be transported to a faraway island, surrounded by friends, enjoying refreshing drinks around a re on a warm summer's night. Their music then wove into the souls, propelled by the singer‘s raw, lion-like voice as the audience, unable to resist their excitement any longer, surrendered to the rhythm and began to dance. Laughter and smiles blended harmoniously with the music while poetry started to rise in my mind. On that Sunday evening, The Two unveiled a soulful album, blending genres and delivering an authentic musical experience—a poignant reminder that music possesses the power to transport us to extraordinary realms. fffifi

12 Nestled near the Lavaux vineyards in Switzerland, the Cully Jazz S Festival took over the narrow streets and the shores of Léman Lake in April 2023 for its 40th edition. On a Thursday evening bathed in the last rays of sunlight, a crowd of music lovers gathered to discover the universe of the British artist SummerPearl. With sounds that combine soul, dub and hip-hop, the artist transported the audience into the heart of her hypnotic vibes. UMMER It only took a few notes for SummerPearl‘s contagious energy and her band to sweep over the crowd. The air, infused with the artist's musical colours, turned the audience into a meditative and healing state—SummerPearl‘s voice, between singing and rapping, guided their minds. Carried away by the enchanting rhythm, bodies surrendered to the fusion the evening‘s musicians o ered. Between dance and laughter, smiles and applause, SummerPearl's performance blurred the boundaries between music and audience. Somewhere in the back of the room, seated on the vibrating oor, moving to the rhythm of the dance steps, my body was struck by the force of the energy emanating from the crowd. SummerPearl‘s harmonies then inspired my words to ow like a river with ancestral rhythms. live at cully jazz Festival — | 04.20.2023 | flflff
