Week3 Title: Typhoon 28W (Trami), # 28: Okinawa enters TCCOR 2 Author: DAVE ORNAUER Source: https://www.stripes.com/news/typhoon-28w-trami-28-okinawa-enters-tccor-2-1.548347 Summary Trami keeps moving very slowly, but it has begun turningnorthwest, and like a lion getting ready to pounce, is set to curvearound Okinawa, with the island well inside Trami’s forecast 64-knot(75-mph) and 50-knot (58-mph) wind bands. And it won’t really startpicking up speed until after it leaves the Okinawa area. Trami isforecast to pass 29 miles west-northwest of Kadena at 2 p.m.Saturday, packing 121-mph sustained winds and 150-mph gusts atcenter. The center of the storm will miss the island, but that’s nosaving grace; the right-front and right-rear quadrants, the worst of thelot, are forecast to pass right smack dab over the island, with all itsheavy rain and windy fury. My reaction/reflection: The news is one of a lot of having typhoons in Japan that I haveheard about. And I feel like Japanese people and the government ispreparing and really ready to handle this one with effective ways likethey always do every time.
