Welcome to the Cambridge & District Humane Society Established in 1955, The Cambridge and District Humane Society (CDHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and providing shelter and comfort to homeless dogs, cat and other animals in need of temporary shelter. We help our neighbours find the best match for their lifestyle, personality, and offer information and expertise about adoption and bringing their new furry family member home. We also provide humane education to school aged children throughout the community about safe handling and the humane care of animals. The CDHS relies solely on donations from our community and although we are an Affiliate Member of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA), we do not receive any funding from them. Our Mission Statement The CDHS promotes and ensures the health, safety and humane treatment of animals through public education. We Believe: • Animals are a natural part of our environment. • No animal should suffer. • All animals deserve our respect and compassion. • All animals should have appropriate shelter/protection. • Animal ownership is a privilege.

Humane Education Programs The CDHS Education Programs are offered in schools and a variety of public forums, with the goal of helping people develop a caring attitude towards animals, their environment and each other. Classroom presentations, shelter tours and lectures are completed each year. Choose Adoption Are you looking for a new furry family member? Our Shelter accepts adoptable animals from Cambridge Animal Services, and public surrenders. The CDHS also transfers in animals from other Shelters, Pounds and Rescue organizations. We provide food, shelter, exercise, patience, love and respect to all animals in our care. Some animals require additional veterinary care such as medication and surgery. Our goal always remains the same: finding each animal a loving home. Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds and sizes, as well as small animals are adopted from the CDHS Adoption Centre and our satellite locations. Satellite Locations in Cambridge are listed below • Pet Valu locations: Cedar Street, Franklin Blvd and Holiday Inn Drive • Rens Pets on Pinebush Road • Global Pet Foods on Franklin Blvd and Jamieson Pkwy We welcome you to visit the shelter during our adoption hours or view our animals online. Our website (www.cambridgehumanesociety.org) is updated regularly with pictures and biographies of animals waiting to be adopted. www.tophatandtailscambridge.com

Our caring and knowledgeable staff are available to guide you through the adoption process and help you find the perfect match! All adopters are carefully screened and random checks of adopted animals help to ensure that new owners are managing any problems that may arise.
