I very much hope you will like what you read about us and want to be part of the amazingopportunities this Academy offers.For the next two years my role has widened to lead all the schools in the Peninsula Learning Trust, an educational charitythat runs six schools in the St Austell area. I will remain based at Penrice ensuring this is the best possible school foryoung people in St Austell and the area beyond. Digital Learning at Penrice Cutting Edge Technology Digital Learning Creative Education We use the latest innovative technologies to help prepare learners for life in the 21st Century. Engagement and productivity are excellent, students create professional presentations, movies, animations and music. Students discover and explore, read widely, and learn through video tutorials. The iPads are another tool for learning, which we use alongside more traditional teaching and learning methods. Our iPad Geniuses offer support for staff and students. We have a robust mobile device management system in place, ensuring students stay safe online.

Primary Taster DaysExceptional TransitionYear 11 Prefect Support

Transition at Penrice Academy, Head Boy, Jack Lawther and Head Girl, Isabel MayWe have a well-established programme which makes the transition from Primary to Secondary school as smooth as possible.We work closely with our Primary colleagues, through a number of visits by the Head of Year, SENCO, Assistant Head of Yearand current Year 7 students to learn as much as possible about each child. We meet with parents, pupils and professionalswhere transition to Secondary school is likely to cause particular challenges.The Head of Year 7 uses all this information to create tutor groups balanced with respect to ability, friendship, gender andindividual need. During the Summer Term, children spend two days at Penrice. On these days students meet their newtutor group, spend time with their Tutor, sample taster lessons and get the ‘feel’ of their new school before they arrive inSeptember. Parents and students are invited back for one evening to meet Tutors and Senior Staff.On our Welcome Days and throughout the first year at Penrice, each tutor group is accompanied by two Year 11 TutorPrefects who are on hand to support them, help them navigate the Academy and ease any worries they may have. Year 7students really value the input of older students who have been in their shoes.

Curriculum EnhancementPenrice Academy offers a plethora of extra- curricular opportunities and after school learning including a range of Music,Arts, Drama, Creative Writing and Sports. We utilise the amazing resources on offer in Cornwall and the rest of the UK.Trips to the Eden project, Oxford University, The Cornish Pirates training ground, Truro Cathedral and Charlestown are justEnrichment Activities a snapshot of the experiences available to our students.Skiing in Austria Our Curriculum Enhancement Week at the end of each academic year ensuresTen Tours Success students can participate in cultural and sporting trips to Europe alongside an enormous variety of activities at home that appeal to a range of skills. These include football training with Plymouth Argyle, coastal walks, Stable Management courses and Performing Arts workshops.



Assistant Head of Year Team, Student Family Centre Inclusive CommunitySupport at Penrice Specialist SupportThe student support provision at Penrice Academy is Outstanding. We Harvey the Therapy Doghave worked exceptionally hard to create a number of inclusion centresthat support students academically, socially, physically and emotionally.These centres include our Learning Centre, Student and Family Centre,Learning Inclusion Centre, Effective Learning Centre, a centre for outdoorlearning and a teaching facility dedicated to intervention and support.We have a teacher dedicated to our children in care, school counsellor andeven have our own school therapy dog - Harvey!The centres are run by a team of passionate professionals dedicated tomaking sure all students attending Penrice have a happy, safe environmentin which all can learn and flourish.
