CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY LABMACHINE High Performance Liquid PRICE - ChromatographyMODEL 1100 series BRAND AgilentYEAR OF 2005 UNITS 1PURCHASESERIAL NO. DE23930456 TAGGING kk-050LOCATION Unit operation 2 lab, Block B, Academic building1. INTRODUCTION The HP/Agilent 1100 series is the current model and arguably the best design in the industry because of the optimized design of the quaternary pump ensuring virtually pulse-free and stable solvent flow, with dual floating pistons in series, precisely serve-controlled. This design with variable stroke volume allows pulse-free solvent delivery and efficient mixing. An inlet-valve electronically activated and synchronized to piston stroke – eliminates vapor formation with volatile solvent and is maintenance free. With high-speed proportioned valve and preconfigured vacuum degasser, it is convenient for low – pressure mixing of up to four solvents and highest flexibility in solvent choices.

MACHINE Gas Chromatography PRICE -MODEL 6890N (G1540N) BRAND AgilentYEAR OF 2006 UNITS 1PURCHASESERIAL NO. US10302068 TAGGING kk-051LOCATION Unit operation 2 lab, Block B, Academic building1. INTRODUCTIONChromatography is a dynamic separation process based on differences in the rates of migrationof different compounds through a column containing an immobilised phase. Migration is inducedby a continuous flow of the mobile phase through the column. In general chromatography is based on the selective distribution of the different componentsbetween two phases. One of the phases, the stationary phase, is held immobilised inside thecolumn while the other phase, the mobile phase travels through the column, flowing through thestationary phase. Compounds that exhibit a higher affinity for the stationary phase will travelmore slowly than compounds exhibiting a lower affinity. The different sample components travelat different speed through the column and are eluted from the column at different times. Thecolumn should be sufficiently long to obtain the desired degree of separation.

MACHINE Fourier Transform Infra Red PRICE -MODEL Spectrum RX1 BRAND Perkin ElmerYEAR OF - UNITS 1PURCHASESERIAL NO. 67993 TAGGING kk-043LOCATION Unit operation 2 lab, Block B, Academic building1.INTRODUCTIONAn FT-IR Spectrometer is an instrument which acquires broadband NIR to FIR spectra. Unlike adispersive instrument, i.e. grating monochromator or spectrograph, FT-IR SpectrometerSelection Guide< collect all wavelengths simultaneously. This feature is called the Multiplex orFelgett Advantage.FT-IR Spectrometers are often simply called FTIRs. But for the purists, an FT-IR (FourierTransform InfraRed) is a method of obtaining infrared spectra by first collecting an interferogramof a sample signal using an interferometer, and then performing a Fourier Transform (FT) on theinterferogram to obtain the spectrum. An FT-IR Spectrometer collects and digitizes theinterferogram, performs the FT function, and displays the spectrum.

MACHINE Atomic Absorption PRICE - SpectrometerMODEL Aanalyst400 BRAND Perkin ElmerYEAR OF - UNITS 1PURCHASESERIAL NO. 201S2121116 TAGGING kk-046LOCATION Unit operation 2 lab, Block B, Academic building1.INTRODUCTIONAtomic-absorption (AA) spectroscopy uses the absorption of light to measure the concentrationof gas-phase atoms. Since samples are usually liquids or solids, the analyte atoms or ions mustbe vaporized in a flame or graphite furnace. The atoms absorb ultraviolet or visible light andmake transitions to higher electronic energy levels. The analyte concentration is determined from the amount of absorption. Applying the Beer-Lambert law directly in AA spectroscopy is difficult due to variations in the atomization efficiencyfrom the sample matrix, and nonuniformity of concentration and path length of analyte atoms (ingraphite furnace AA). Concentration measurements are usually determined from a workingcurve after calibrating the instrument with standards of known concentration.
