A message from the president……….. On behalf of the Niagara County Music Educators Association (NCMEA), the county unit of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), I welcome you to the 2020 All County Music Festival Con- certs. It truly is my privilege to preside over these performances that honor the musical achievements of students across our county, the dedi- cation of their music teachers, the support of school districts, and the love of families. The All County experience is special. Children from different communi- ties come together, lend their talents, and create something beauti- ful. They work as a team with each member actively contributing to the final goal. The students think creatively and demonstrate great poise. They learn challenging music, work with a new conductor, make lasting friendships, and create mem- ories that will reach far beyond this day. The incredible skills and talent that brought them to this moment will continue on throughout their lives as they shine for years to come. These young people are the next generation and will add positively to the community. It truly is an amazing experience, a gift. I would be remiss if I did not formally thank the devoted teachers of Niagara County that give up hours of extra time and immeasurable effort to assure this experience is available to your children. The level of mu- sicianship in Niagara County is to be commended and is a direct result of wonderful teaching. Teachers who inspire, motivate, and model; who believe in curiosity, vision, and challenge. The incredible Peter Boonshaft in his book Teaching Music With Passion quotes Zoltan Kodaly- “Real art is one of the most powerful forces….and he who renders it accessible to as many people as possible is a benefactor of hu- manity”. Your children are the leaders of tomorrow. They are the creative force America will need. Part of their success will be from the musical education they have been given. It is through the arts that commu- nities grow and thrive. As this will be my final year as President of NCMEA, I wish to say the most heartfelt and sincere thank you to the dedicated members of the NCMEA Executive Board, the terrific schools, administrators, teachers, parents, and students in Niagara County. We are truly a family. The memoires and friendships will be a part of me forever! Now, please sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful concert and the gifts your children will share today. April Carere, President NCMEA 3
