EDUCATION SHOWCASE LOUISIANA IT SYMPOSIUM 2019, Sheraton New Orleans Dr. Moore is a member of the CIO Advisory Board of the Louisiana IT Symposium and also was a panel- ist for the session titled, Becoming a One-Handed CIO. The Office of Technology Administration was invited to participate in the Louisiana IT Symposium Conference, held at the Sheraton, New Orleans on November 13, 2019. This year’s Some of Xavier’s Brightest! theme “Education Showcase” highlighted local Higher-Ed institutional programs showcasing Technology Education Joshua Lewis - Senior Business Administration Initiatives. College of Arts & Sciences Xavier showed up and showed out! Refilwe Carroll - Freshman XULA Students were a Technology Hit!! Computer Science Ms. Refilwe Carrol and Mr. Dejonn Jackson showcased their Division of Mathematical and Physical co-authored APP in which Drones are programmed to follow Sciences: Computer Sciences & Comp Humans or see Colors. See it in action! This original project was Engineering part of XULA course: Introduction to Engineering Design (Dr. Shafiqul Islam). Students utilized Drone APPs written from Dejonn Jackson - Freshman SCRATCH, programming language. Additionally, these Freshman Computer Science students developed their own Python programming code. Division of Mathematical and Physical Mr. Joshua Lewis showcased his Oh Shoot mobile phone repair Sciences: Computer Sciences & Comp business, through the Division of Business, XULA Entrepreneur- Engineering ship Institute Program (Dr. Joe M. Ricks, Jr. and Mr. Mark Quinn). This student run service has a University on-campus location (Library Resource Center, 1st floor) for your convenience. Established in 2010, the Entrepreneurship Institute (EI) has been creating an environment of innovation and creativity for XULA students, faculty, staff and the New Orleans community. Introducing: Vice-President, Dr. Mable Moore Moore Named VP for Technology Administration at Xavier University of Louisiana Dr. Mable Moore has been named the new Vice President for Technology Administration at Xavier University of Louisiana. Moore, who holds a Ph.D. in Education and Administration and Leadership from the University of Texas at Austin, and both B.S. and M.S. degrees in computer science from LSU and Southern University at Baton Rouge respectively, has more than 30 years of experience in technology information systems and in Higher Education. “We are very fortunate to have identified an individual with Dr. Moore’s impressive credentials, years of experience, and wealth of expertise to serve in this key role”, said President Verret. She comes to Xavier from Savannah State University, where she served as Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Chief Information Officer.
