MONTHLY GOVERNOR’S NEWSLETTER No 8 February 2018. Dear friends in the Rotary, Rotaract and Interact, February is the month that the Rotary dedicates to peace and prevention and conflict resolution. As one of the six priorities of Rotary, world peace is one of our most important goals, as well as being one of the most essential goals of humanity today. In February, one of the six Rotary Peace Conferences (February 16-18, 2018) will be held in Beirut, Lebanon. However, we also can contribute to world peace. Let’s defuse some conflict in our environment, or at least in a nearby school, let us tell children how world peace is important for the development of our local communities. Our most important District event this month is most definitely on February 23 - the Rotary anniversary, and traditionally, National Rotary Day in Serbia. On this day every year we try to raise awareness about our organization, but also do something useful - support the Foundation or help someone in need. This year’s event will take place in one of our most important and most beautiful temples of culture, the National Theater in Belgrade. There are several reasons for this - we want Rotary to be unreservedly connected with culture and spiritual promotion by hosting in such an institution of a great cultural and national renown, as well as show that the Rotary are not just hotels and restaurants, and to organize an event at which all the funds will not be spent on food and drink, but rather, be earmarked for humanitarian purposes. Please make plans on Friday, February 23, from 7:00 pm to come with your life partners so that we can all celebrate our anniversary, share some new PHFs or membership pins, watch an entertaining and interesting show together and socialize. This is the right moment to invite distinguished persons from the Montenegro and Serbia clubs, an opportunity to invite the friends we would like to see in our ranks and show them our Rotary in its most beautiful light. The funds will be collected to this end, and we will bring together young people, education and culture – in fact, all the funds collected will be sent to the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra Borislav Pašćan for their summer music camp.
