MONTHLY GOVERNOR’S NEWSLETTER No 9 March 2018. Dear friends in the Rotary, Rotaract and Interact, Here we are in March, a month Rotary dedicates to the problem of potable water shortages and the issue of wastewater disposal (WATER & SANITATION MONTH). This problem is particularly pronounced in the countries of Africa and the Middle East, with which the Rotarians intensively deal with and implement Global Grants through which they are trying to solve the problem. Therefore, take an opportunity during this month and mention this topic at your club meetings - with a convenient lecture in the course of which you can touch on this topic. A good day for this is, let’s say, World Water Day on March 22. March is also the month when the World Rotaract Week is celebrated, and this is always the week of March 13, the day the first Rotaract club was established. This year, and this is especially important, is a jubilee 50 years since that event. Thus, this could be the right moment to devote a little more attention to our new generations. Despite our good will and commitment, we cannot always prepare the future for our young people exactly as we want. But, what we can do is support and prepare young people for the future. The Rotaract community in the world has 1,092 clubs in 184 countries, a total of 250,792 Rotaract members. Instead of glamorous fun and blowing out candles on a cake, our young people from Rotaract decided to celebrate their jubilee with a series of activities under the name “Brand Our Rotaract” and invited us to join them that day. This day, as well as the entire Rotaract Week (March 12-18), will be used for carrying out the District’s “Whiteboards for Schools” drive. The aim of the drive is to donate magnetic whiteboards, markers and sponges to primary, secondary and schools for children with special needs. Since education is the focus of this Rotary Year and the beneficiaries of this drive are schools, I invite all Rotary clubs to support their Rotaract in this year’s mission of school modernization, and thus create a better environment for encouraging future leaders and creating a brighter future. An important date for our District this month will be March 15th - on that day we will count the ballot papers and announce the name of our future District Governor for 2020-21. It will be the day when anxiety will be appeased, the day when we will turn to the future and from which time the best among the candidates, the one who has the greatest support among clubs and Rotarians, will be able to start preparations for a significant governor function. Also, the weekend of March 17-18 is of a great importance as this year’s District Team Training Seminar will be held then, at which our pending Governor Vlada Matić with his future District Team will start preparing for the next BE THE INSPIRATION Rotary Year. In the preparation period of the future District leadership and future club management, our role as this year’s leaders is of a great importance.
