The History  Of   Azanian Flames

THE GROUP STARTED IN 1995with B-boy Xavier, B-boy Elly Cat, B-boy Mervin aka white, B-boy Vouks, B-boy Banna & Bboy Donnie they were situated in the south of Eersteriver where they started to practise together .The group had alot of name changes from Rock steady crew to KOD(kids of the district) until they become Azanian Flames The group were doing different shows at school and started to enterCompetitions which there first entry to the a competition was in in 1997with popular groups like Black noise., Azanian B-boys, Enemy Squad, etcwhich the group game in fourth place for there first competition entered The group on an recruited the youngest dancer Jeremy Adams B-Boy Speedo who specialised in Power moved meaning Flares head spins,etc. The group kept on practising every single day to be on par with the dancers that was already on the scene. In 1999 B-boy Speedo (on the picture on the left) was chosen to represent South Africa with the South African All stars in Germany. This encourage the whole group to practise more and there mission was to win all competitions. The group was from a ganster driven area but this didnt have any influence i what they wanted to become. Alot Bboys joined the group but some of them left In late 1999 B-Boy B-Bobo joined the group to amplify the group strengths some of the group.

Some of the group member were Centurion 2000 performing with a Group called BVK(brasse vannie kaap) which they went to Oppikoppi festival and didnt many shows with this particular group as there dancers. The group had his members that battled to keep the Fire burn high like they used they used to call it. In 200 the group went to JHB tosee if they can make it and they paid for this trip by themselves.While they got there they slept couple oftimes on the street looking for the break thru. They eventually perform in a club in Jeppe street where some people saw them but they still struggled because they were far from home. The group started to make friends in JHB and started to battle against the Static B-boys that was popular in the JHB area.Workshops was done but still they didnt gave up. Some members went back to CPT The group Discovered A great dancer called Raain they approach him and to took the offer he became the youngestmember in the crew and entered Battle of the year again.

This was at the time he onlyplatform to get a great battle.In 2002 they started by winningall the competitions in Southafrica and Discovered another B-boy Benny that currently Stilldancing.The group was unstoppable andonly had one Rival Crazy hipSqaud Which they got in the Final in 2003 to defend there Title as SA champs which they did and this year They went again to represent South Africa in Germany The group didn't have any sponsorship but they survived and got Urban gear to give them a gear to represent the label on stage. Some of the group Had to stop dancing because of studies and work because there was no stable income with dancing

Since the guys split up they have lost two members RIP B-BOY RAAIN & BBOY MERVINTHESE TWO BBOYS WAS AN INSPIRATION FOR ALL THE BBOYS IN CAPE TOWN OF JHBTHESE TWO REPRESENTED AZANIAN FLAMES IN DIFFERENT LEVELSYOU SURELY BEING MISSED

The group came back together and are currently working on different projects like recording New music B-Boy B-bobo now a developer is currently developing the website for group.The group is still ongoing with new programs that is focus on the youth and the drug problem in the communities
