Reading Journal         By    Maysaya  Onsri  6031006180  /  Section  5          This  journal  is  submitted  in  partial  fulfillment  of  the  requirements  for  English  reading  and  writing  1  course  of  Liberal  Arts  in  English  Program,  Mae  Fah  Luang  University  First  semester  2018

Week  3            Title:  Gamers  meet  in  real  life  at  bedside  of  terminally-‐ill  friend                  Author:  BBC  NEWS   Source:  https://www.bbc.com/news/world-‐us-‐canada-‐45651739       Summary     Cancer  patients  have  been  encouraged  by  6  friends.   However,  this  was  the  first  time  they  had  been  in  same  roomใ   They  met  on  a  online  game  and  have  forged  a  friendship  that  has   tied  them  together.  The  image  of  the  friends  gathered  around  Joe's   hospital  bed  in  New  Jersey  has  moved  many  to  share  similar  stories   of  the  meaningful  relationships  that  have  begun  online.   David  Miller  from  Canada  shared  the  story  on  Reddit.  The  19-‐ year-‐old  said  he  had  met  Joe  and  the  others  online  about  five  years   ago.But  this  summer  the  friends  discovered  Joe  had  been  diagnosed   with  Ewing's  sarcoma.  The  prognosis  was  terminal  and  he  now  lives   in  a  hospice  centre.  The  strength  of  the  group's  friendship  and  their   support  for  Joe  led  some  to  suggest  the  men  were  dispelling  the   stereotypes  of  gamers.     My  reaction/reflection:     What  I  can  feel  in  this  news  is  friendship  will  never  end  and  friends   will  always  support  you.  This  news  is  very  easy  to  understand  because   the  vocabulary  is  not  difficult.             Page  2  of  5
