Week: 1 Title: Indonesia earthquake: Hundreds dead in Palu quake and tsunami Author: BBC NEWS Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-‐asia-‐45683630 Summary More than 380 people dead after a tsunami and earthquake hit in Indonesian city. Thousands of home and building were destroyed. There were a lot of dead bodies along the street. Indonesia's disaster agency said at least 384 people had been killed, but the number is expected to rise. At least 540 have been injured, and 29 are listed as missing. Indonesian president said troops were en route to the area to reinforce rescue teams and help retrieve bodies. The main airport in that city has been closed since the tsunami hit. A minister said the runway had been damaged very bad, so they just hope that helicopter can go in that area. The country's military is sending planes of relief aid from the capital. My reaction/reflection: I feel sorry for the natural disaster that has taken place in Indonesia. People have died in this disaster, including the damage done to buildings, but they still have a lot of department and government going to help them. It is a reminder that disaster is a terrible thing. In terms of writing news, I think the news is easy to read because it is not difficult vocabulary. Page 2 of 4
