Transcending The Eternal Divide By Karen Storsteen Afew months ago, I wrote an article for Discover Magazines entitled, “Psychic – Science – Spirit Messages – How Do We Pick Up the Call?” In that article, I answered common questions about the afterlife that I have received over many years in working as an intuitive, therapist, and psychic medium. I shared how quantum physics and neuroscience supports psychic ability and our ability to connect nonlocally with the other side. In this article, we continue to explore questions frequently asked about the afterlife and how we can connect to consciousness that transcends space and time.

I am not sure I believe in psychic mediumship. How do I How Can I Call the Other Side? know someone is not just faking it? Although this question is beyond the scope of this article, due to the pandemic I am hearing this question a lot lately. My answer is that it is up to your loved one and their God when they will pass. It is their process. There is often a tendency of family members to tell their loved one near the end of their life, “It’s OK, you can go now. You do not have to wait. We will all be OK.” The same message is repeated every day, wondering why their loved one is hanging on. None of us wants to be pushed or pulled to stay or go! Although such thoughts are typically well-intentioned, sometimes the anxiety of those grieving and the need for control blurs patience, faith and the ability to trust their loved ones’ sacred process. And know that when their soul sheds its tired skin, they will be with you once again to whisper a sweet goodnight. Copyright © 2020, Karen Storsteen. All Rights Reserved. Foundation for Women Warriors HONOR HER SERVICE | EMPOWER HER FUTURE When you think of veterans, do you think of women? We do... “Foundation for Women Warriors has been there for me when I needed it most. Last Spring, I was in my final semester of my bachelor’s degree at Cal State. I was working and taking a full load of classes while raising my son by myself. I was having trouble paying for extended care hours at my child’s daycare and was only weeks away from being completed with my degree program. I knew that I could not quit school and wanted to graduate on time. Foundation for Women Warriors provided me childcare assistance, mentorship, and so much more. If it were not for this amazing foundation, I would not be a college graduate today. I recently accepted a new job and am now enrolled in a master’s program.” - Rebecca O., USMC Veteran SPONSORED BY THE GRAND RESTAURANT GROUP Would you like to support women veterans? Using Community Funds During A Divorce Proceeding WHEN PARTIES FILE FOR A DIVORCE, Photography by Meg Nobriga a set of rules automatically kick in that bind both parties in preserving the community estate Y. Jennifer Lee, Esq., is an attorney with the Schaffer Family pending final distribution of the various assets and debts. Law Group, a full-service divorce, mediation, and family law These rules are frequently referred to as the Automatic firm known for effective legal representation and compassionate Temporary Restraining Orders, called “ATROS” and are client service. For more information, please visit printed on the Summons that accompany every divorce www.schafferfamilylaw.com. petition. These rules are specifically governed by California Family Code Section 2040, and in short, require that parties do not make big financial decisions, remove or change insurance policies, or withdraw large sums of money from community funds without letting the other party know. One of the primary principles behind these rules is that it is difficult to determine what there is to divide if parties begin moving money around without notice to each other. You can imagine that if each party was expecting to receive his or her one-half share of a bank account with $500,000 in it, but the account suddenly went down to $100,000 without explanation, at least one party is going to be sorely disappointed at the end of the case. There are exceptions to the ATROS, which include withdrawals of community funds when those funds need to be used for the “necessities of life” or for attorney’s fees. So long as the withdrawing party provides advance notice to the other side of how much and when they expect to withdraw the funds and provide a clear accounting of how the funds are used, the ATROS allow for such withdrawals. This can become especially helpful when one spouse may not have a steady source of income, is not receiving any financial support, and needs access to funds to pay for living expenses or attorney’s fees. It is important that if a divorce has been initiated, parties obtain good legal counsel who can provide appropriate guidance in how and when they can make these transactions and assist in demonstrating a clear accounting of the funds later on in the divorce.
