Catia and Ashikur Rahman first opened the 13 doors of Aurora Steakhouse in Tavira at the end of November 2021. Ashikur from Bangladesh, moved here to Portugal in 2015 and stayed in Lisbon for only a month before visiting Tavira. After only one visit, he decided that it was to be his new home and decided to stay. He met his wife Catia, from Tavira, in 2019 and the couple wasted no time in getting married in May 2022. Ashikur has been a meat lover from a very young age. He wasn’t in Tavira for long before realising that there was no restaurant dedicated to serving only steaks. This being his unique selling point, and also something he had a real passion for, the couple started their search for a suitable premises. The search was quick! In summer 2021 while passing the restaurant, a for sale a sign was being put up in the window. Catia says \"they didn´t find the restaurant, the restaurant found them\". The task to prepare the restaurant began. Interior design was to be elegant and comfortable. Incredibly the place was ready for its grand opening by the end of November that year. Fast forward to today, and things are still moving. Ashikur is a true perfectionist, nothing stands still for long. He is always looking to improve his restaurant and the menu has already been updated and now to includes Wagyu, an extremely tasty Japanese beef.
