2 | P a g e DETAILED REPORT ON FEED LOT INTRODUCTION The animals under the feedlot are purchased from Mabuki Live Stock farm, under the management of Government of Tanzania. 10 cows were purchased initially and one out of the 10 cows showed a decreasing trend after being observed for about 3 weeks and was slaughtered owing to its decreasing weight trend at 24 days of feed lot. Other 9 animals were kept for 98 days before they are being slaughtered. METHOD Traditional method of feed lot was used with wooden cow sheds with good ventilation and the animals provided with enough drinking water and feeds as required. The purchased animals kept under feed lot on the following feeds, 1. Cotton husk 2. Cotton cake 3. Fresh grass. The animals under feed lot were slaughtered after the preferred duration under specific feeds (supplementary and grass) and the carcass kept for ageing (meat tenderization) in 0 0 temperature regulated containers at a preferable temperature range of +2 C to +5 C for 21 days.
