Reykjavik Reykjavik, Iceland is home to a thriving, brilliant culture, as well as a beautiful backdrop and setting for the 2022 Olympic Games. Between the thriving street art, the Northern Lights, a rich tradition of folk art and literature, and plenty of museums, the city is the perfect host for the Olympic Games. There is plenty to see, do, and build off and up to create a truly unique and unforgettable experience! 1

The city features the standards you want for the Olympics, like public transit, sports venues, a close by winter resort, and an international airport. But the city is so much more. On the coast of Iceland is its capital city, Reykjavik. Although the population is relatively small at approximately 122,853 people, it is spread out over 106 miles with many sites within 30-40 minutes. With plenty of space, and approximately 11 different sports venues and a ski resort just outside the city, there is enough space to construct everything needed for the Olympic Games. 2

Art in Reykjavik Reykjavik is a city rich in cultural history and a thriving art and music scene. The city is currently known for its street art, which could be incorporated into designs for the 2022 Olympic Games. It is also known for its vibrant folk and pop music, as well as classical music which can mesh will in a variety of different sports. Visitors to the city will have plenty to do with a variety of museums as well as a thriving night life scene 5

The Northern Lights Providing plenty of inspiration for everything from color schemes to merchandise The Northern Lights are a natural wonder that plays a big factor into the theme for the 2022 Olympics. Not just for its beautiful colors and imagery, but for its ties to the sports and outdoors life in the winter months. 7

Architecture in Reykjavik One of the city’s best known landmarks, Hallgrímskirkja Church, placed at the center of Reykjavik provided plenty of inspiration for the brandingof the games. 11

Getting around Reykjavik Reykjavik has bus lines as the primary mode of transportation. These bus lines can be altered and modified for use in the 2022 games. They accomodate multiple people at once and can easily shuttle people between accomodations and the Olympics. Bus Wraps an easily identify information for passengers during the games and serve as advertising prior to the games beginning. 13

Bus stations can be customized and expanded to accomodate the games. Signage here is a great way to help stakeholders navigate the city. Because of their popularity around the world, they can also be used as a form of avertisement prior to the games.

Details inspired by Reykjavik Inspired by the street art styles of Reykjavik and the colors of the Northern Lights, Pictograms for the games take shape. The Pictorgrams are a unique way for the games to showcase both the loose street style art and the Northern Lights Colors. 15

Ads featuring the 2022 Olympic Logo as well as the city name and snowy backdrop are an effective use of space to entice viewers and stakeholders to come to the games. Ads can be placed throughout the city and abroad to create excitement. 16

Reykjavik: A Beautiful City From the Northern Lights, to Street Art, to a vibrant night life and music scene, Reykjavik holds its own as an international city. There is never a dull moment with ice caves, fantastic architecture, and that’s not even mentioning the sporting possibilities.
