Harassment is about power—the undue exercise of power by a superior over a subordinate.” ~Michael Crichton Sexual harassment is unpleasant sexual behaviour that is intimidating, humiliating, or offensive. It can be physical, verbal, or written. It can happen online or in person. The corporate world received a boost in 2013. The legal landscape of India changed drastically in 2013 when the PoSH Law came into Action. A workplace that has at least 10 employees needs to have an IC (Internal Committee). The percentage of women in the committee should be 50%. This committee is responsible to oversee the implementation of the PoSH Act, India. PoSH committee members “When bosses, leaders, and powerful men and women ignore or deny the accounts of harassment victims, they reinforce the idea that harassers are playing the game as they should and that the rest of us should fall in line.” ~ Pramila Jayapal The PoSH committee works best delivering a robust manifestation of the Internal Complaint Committee of the company. The Internal Committee shall have a senior women employee as the presiding officer. Skilled and trained experts are called for implementing a hotline for Reports regarding the PoSH law. They assist the businesses to form an internal complaint committee. They will form internal policies that are necessary for smooth functioning and compliance. What is PoSH Training Based On? The Constitution of India guarantees equality of status and opportunity for every person. The PoSH awareness training is very essential to make you understand all the details of PoSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) at workplaces. This is based on the handbook on sexual harassment of women at the workplace Act of 2013. It ensures prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment at the workplace. This act has been initiated by the Government of India under the Ministry of worn and child Development. Before doing any heinous act, people will fear the law and control themselves before doing anything.
