JULY 2, 2022 - INDOOR POKER RUN GRATITUDE Congratulationstoour winnersfromthe Indoor Poker Run. Highest Hand - Tonya Newby Her full-house earned her a leather jacket. He chose H-D Riding Sunglasses He won a $25 gift card. Was the winner of $450 that will help with the new baby they are expecting soon. I cannot say enough how grateful I am for the 28 volunteers and their hard work at the Indoor Poker run Fort Worth H.O.G. hosted on Saturday 7/2. Everyone worked so well together and the event was a huge success. On behalf of myself and the management of Fort Worth Harley-Davidson, you all need to know we could not have done this without all of you!! There were a total of 104 Poker hands played and we served up as many burgers and hot dogs. There was a great turnout and lots of participation from other chapter members and customers. We had plenty of food and plenty of leftovers, so we will be grilling up burgers and hot dogs again on Saturday July 9th after the chapter meeting for our chapter members and meeting guests. All of the food was provided by Fort Worth Harley! As always, big thanks to our dealership for being so supportive of our H.O.G. Chapter #1260, The Best in the West! Many thanks.... Michele S. Wilfer Director, Fort Worth H.O.G. Chapter #1260

INDOOR POKER RUN

My first ride as a chapter member was on May 29 when we went down to Ennis to pay respects to the Veterans Memorial site. Shortly thereafter, I received an email encouraging us to complete the Tour of Honor. On Saturday, June 2, 2022, I decided to take on that challenge by hitting 4 additional Memorial Sites. I punched in a twisty route using my Calimoto app and I figured it would take me about 5 hours to complete the round trip ride. There was a chance of rain all day, but as it turned out, it was the perfect riding conditions for June in Texas with a nice overcast blocking the summer heat. So beginning from 7th Street in Fort worth at 8:00am it was kick stands up. My first stop was the Veterans Memorial Park at 4120 Camp Bowie Blvd. 76107 which was about 15 minutes from my home. I’m not from around here, so it was cool to learn where the name Camp Bowie came from. Then it was onward to the Veterans Plaza 312 Aledo Trail, Aledo Tx 76008. Nice parking area and public facilities. From there I rode on to the National Vietnam Museum 12685 Mineral Wells Hwy, Weatherford, TX 87088. Unfortunately, the museum building was closed, but I peeked into the window just the same and walked the grounds. There were vehicles on display and I ventured inside one of them. I can only imagine the stories they could tell. My final stop was the Veterans Memorial Park 100 Virginia Ln, Rhome TX 76078. At first, I thought my GPS was playing games as it turned me onto a neighborhood street, but there it was on the corner There was a plaque that read “ To Future Veterans“ which reminded me that as humans we continually fall into the same patterns with each generation. I said a quick prayer and headed home. Thanks for recommending the ride. It will be a great memory every time I look at the patch.
