This\tsubject\tis\tsuitable\tto\tthose\tof\ta\tlustful\ttemperament as\t it\t leads\t to\t non-attachment\t to\t the\t so-called\t beautiful body.\t Some\t may\t prefer\t to\t meditate\t on\t the\t dormant possibilities\tof\tman. 83.\tThe\tfour\telements\tare\tpa\u1e6dhavi,\t\u0101po,\ttejo,\tand\tv\u0101yo.\tOne 708","must\tnot\tunderstand\tthat\tthese\telements\tare\tearth,\twater, fire\tand\tair. Pa\u1e6dhavi\t is\t the\t element\t of\t extension,\t the\t substratum\t of matter.\t Without\t it\t objects\t cannot\t occupy\t space.\t The qualities\t of\t hardness\t and\t softness,\t which\t are\t purely relative,\tare\ttwo\tconditions\tof\tthis\tparticular\telement. \u0100po\t is\t the\t element\t of\t cohesion.\t Unlike\t pa\u1e6dhavi\t it\t is intangible.\t It\t is\t this\t element\t that\t makes\t scattered particles\t of\t matter\t cohere\t and\t gives\t rise\t to\t the\t idea\t of 'body'.\t When\t some\t bodies\t are\t melted\t this\t element becomes\t more\t prominent\t in\t the\t resulting\t fluid.\t The element\t of\t extension\t and\t cohesion\t are\t so\t closely interrelated\t that\t when\t cohesion\t ceases\t extension disappears. Tejo\tis\tthe\telement\tof\theat.\tCold\tis\talso\ta\tform\tof\ttejo.\tBoth heat\t and\t cold\t are\t included\t in\t tejo\t because\t they\t possess the\t power\t of\t maturing\t bodies.\t Tejo,\t in\t other\t words,\t is the\t vitalizing\t energy.\t Preservation\t and\t decay\t are\t also due\t to\t this\t element.\t Unlike\t the\t other\t three\t essentials\t of matter,\t this\t element\t has\t the\t power\t to\t regenerate\t matter by\titself.
