HIGLHLIGHTS FOURTH VOLUME | SECOND QUARTER The official Newsletter of Highlights | June, 2022 Helping Hand Welfare Society INSIDE THIS QUARTER’S ISSUE Exclusive with Direct Child Sponsorship department | Special School Achievements | Insights from Interns https://hhws.org/

Direct Child Sponsorship Thirty thousand & counting... Helping Hand Welfare society’s primary goal is to support needy children’s education. HHWS strives hard to deliver quality education to all its sponsored children. Aristotle once said, “The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.” Education gives new hope and meaning to the children whose destinies change from dropouts to graduates. The life of students will always be bittersweet moments, and HHWS is excited to be a part of their journey towards success. The Department Head, Ms Leah Edwin, “It has been a fulfilling and incredible journey working for the sponsorship department. It is an honour and a blessing to serve as the Department’s Head to constantly engage and interact with unfortunate and vulnerable children and be there for them during their joys and challenges. The department monitors each student’s progress and needs throughout their academic journey. Many students succeed in their set objectives after completing their higher education, which is a remarkable outcome for the department. Furthermore, some academically curious children with a creative streak are self-driven to carve out a career for themselves and become a blessing to others by providing support.” Despite the challenges and difficulties, HHWS trust that this noble endeavour to care for the needs of the deprived and deserving children will always find new opportunities and resources to strengthen the existing process. HHWS has impacted over 30,000 children’s lives, and more than 2,500 students are receiving support this year. Our field officers connect with every sponsored student during their visits and update the well-being of the children. https://hhws.org/ Highlights | June, 2022

On June 8, 2022, the Silent Warrior Pathfinder Club kicked off its activities by visiting Mr Kailesh Murthy's farm. Mr Kailesh's farm is in Hindawaddi, 15 kilometres from the Seventh- day Adventist School for the Speech and Hearing Impaired at Kollegal. The plants and fruit-bearing trees and many coconuts and palm trees are provided with dry leaves, dropping fruit, sunshine, rain and limited water supply to the trees and plants. The farm is managed primarily through organic agricultural techniques. Mr Kailesh does not use fertilisers, chemicals, or ploughing, to protect the environment. He took the group on a tour of his farm, emphasising his years of experience with organic farming. The Silent Warrior Pathfinder Club was inspired and motivated. Highlights | June, 2022
