PAENRCOATRGDEREPMARMYEMNEEURSHIP The Entrepreneurship Academy programme (EAP) is a seven to eight-month long intervention, with weekly three-hour sessions that equip learners with skills to establish their own businesses while at school. The EAP provides training on business and work readiness skills to learners in grades 10 -11 over six to seven months incorporating a number of JA South Africa programmes. In 2019 the programme was implemented in all nine provinces. A total number of 415 learners successfully completed the programme and 28 mini companies were formed. Learners also undergo personal financial management training, and gain market exposure by visiting local businesses, giving them in-depth understanding on operations and strategies to maintain and sustain their businesses. MJAOMNOEYREPRTHOAGRNAMME The More Than Money (MTM) Programme is a Financial Literacy Programme targeting grades 5-7 learners and it is implemented as a one-day activity around calendar events like the Global Money Week and Savings Month in July. The MTM programme introduces students to the concepts of money, income, savings, spending, investing and entrepreneurship. The programme also introduces students to a savings challenge, where they set a savings target and are given a period to save towards a goal they had set, giving the learners an opportunity to apply the principles of savings learnt. A total of 9 119 learners participated in the programme this year – 22 % increase from the 7 084 learners reached in 2018. The JA-More-than-Money-in-a-Day was implemented on Mandela Day and was supported by, Ernst & Young, Marsh & McLennan Companies, AIG, HSBC and the Banking Association of South Africa (BASA). These programmes were implemented in eight provinces, reaching a total of 46 schools to 4 012 grade 5 - 7 learners. 16 Annual Report 2019

RICCNOAONMDBOOIPNVTSGAICT&SION Innovation Camps are JA experiential education programmes which encourage creativity, critical thinking, team work and problem solving among young learners. During this one-day, project-based, intensive learning experience, students engage in and apply entrepreneurial and collaborative 21st century learning by solving challenges within the community. This year we partnered with Motorola Solutions Foundation, SABIC and VJ Robotics and implemented four coding & robotics innovation camps which challenged 480 - SABIC:296; Motorola camp 1: 104; Motorola camp 2: 80 - grade 7 learners in Gauteng and the Western Cape to come up with solutions to survive on Mars. 17 Tipping The Scales

AINUDDEIPTOENRDS ERNETPORT INDEPENDENT AUDITOR’S REPORT ON THE SUMMARY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS TO THE MEMBERS OF JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT SOUTH AFRICA (NPC) Opinion The summary financial statements, which comprise the summary statement of financial position as at 31 December 2019, the summary statement of comprehensive income, changes in equity and cash flows for the year then ended, and related notes, are derived from the audited financial statements of Junior Achievement South Africa (NPC) for the year ended 31 December 2019. We expressed a qualified audit opinion on those financial statements in our report dated 26 March 2020. In our opinion, the accompanying summary financial statements are consistent, in all material respects, with the audited financial statements, in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards and the requirements of the Companies Act of South Africa as applicable to summary financial statements. However, the summary financial statements are misstated to the equivalent extent as the audited financial statements of Junior Achievement South Africa (NPC) for the year ended 31 December 2019. Summary Financial Statements The summary financial statements do not contain all the disclosures required by the International Financial Reporting Standards and the requirements of the Companies Act of South Africa as applicable to financial statements. Reading the summary financial statements and the auditor’s report thereon, therefore, is not a substitute for reading the audited financial statements and the auditor’s report thereon. The Audited Financial Statements and Our Report Thereon We expressed a qualified audit opinion on the audited financial statements in our report dated 26 March 2020. In common with similar organisations, it is not feasible for the organisation to institute accounting controls over income received from sponsorships prior to their initial entry in the accounting records. Accordingly, it was impractical for us to extend our examination beyond the receipts actually recorded. Our auditor’s report on the audited financial statements also includes: An “Other matter” paragraph: Without further qualifying our opinion, we draw attention to the fact that the detailed statement of comprehensive income set out on page 25 and the detailed statement of sponsorship income set out on page 26, does not form part of the annual financial statements and are presented as additional information. We have not audited these schedules and accordingly we do not express an opinion thereon.
