ORIGINWhen your heart beats, it pumps blood round your body togive it the energy and oxygen it needs. As the bloodmoves, it pushes against the sides of the blood vessels. Thestrength of this pushing is your blood pressure. More is thepush , more the pressure on blood vessels, high is the BPand vice versa.

High blood pressure Or HBP(hypertension)Hypertension, also referred to as high blood pressure (HBP),is a condition in which the arteries have persistentlyelevated blood pressure. Every time the human heart beats,it pumps blood to the whole body through the arteries. The normal level for blood pressure is below 120/80, where120 represents the systolic measurement (peak pressure inthe arteries) and 80 represents the diastolic measurement(minimum pressure in the arteries). Blood pressure between120/80 and 139/89 is called prehypertension (to denoteincreased risk of hypertension), and a blood pressure of140/90 or above is considered hypertension.

Low blood pressure OR LBP(hypotension)Hypotension is low blood pressure(LBP), especially inthe arteries of the systemic circulation. Blood pressure is theforce of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries asthe heart pumps out blood.A low blood pressure reading is having a level that is90/60mmHg, or lower.Only one of the numbers has to be lower than it should beto count as low blood pressure. In other words ,if the topnumber is 90 or less (regardless of the bottom number) thismay be low blood pressure and if the bottom number is 60or less (regardless of the top number) this may be lowblood pressure.

BP SIGNAL…!!!

HBP : It’s REASONS The exact causes of high blood pressure are not known, but several factors and conditions may play a role in its development, including: Smoking Being overweight or obese Lack of physical activity Too much salt in the diet Too much alcohol consumption (more than 1 to 2 drinks per day) Stress Older age Genetics Family history of high blood pressure Chronic kidney disease Adrenal and thyroid disorders

LBP : It’s REASONS The cause of low blood pressure isn't always clear. It may be associated with the following: Pregnancy Hormonal problems such as an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), diabetes, or low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) Some over-the-counter medications Some medicines prescribed for high blood pressure, depression or Parkinson’s disease Heart failure Heart arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) Widening, or dilation, of the blood vessels Heat exhaustion or heat stroke Liver disease

What Causes a Sudden Dropin Blood Pressure? Sudden drops in blood pressure can be life- threatening. Causes of this type of hypotension include: Loss of blood from bleeding Low body temperature High body temperature Heart muscle disease causing heart failure Sepsis, a severe blood infection Severe dehydration from vomiting, diarrhea, or fever A reaction to medication or alcohol

H-BP and it’s threats :Doctors have long called high blood pressure “the silent killer”because a person can have high blood pressure and never haveany symptoms. If left untreated, high blood pressure can lead tolife-threatening medical problems such as stroke, heart attack orkidney failure.High blood pressure is one of the most common causes of strokebecause it puts unnecessary stress on blood vessel walls, causingthem to thicken and deteriorate, which can eventually lead to astroke. It can also speed up several common forms of heartdisease. When blood vessel walls thicken with increased blood pressure, may break off of artery walls and block a brain artery. In otherinstances, the increased stress can weaken blood vessel walls, leading to a vessel breakage and a brain haemorrhage.

L-BP and it’s threats :Low blood pressure(LBP) is generally not a problem for your health. In fact, it provides protection against heart and kidney diseases aswell as conditions related to high blood pressure such as heart attacksand strokes.Low blood pressure is fine as long as it’s not excessively low so that youfeel the symptoms, in which case there may be a risk of damage toyour organs.People who have so-called poor circulation symptoms (e.g. coldfingers and toes) probably have low blood pressure since it indicatesthat pressure is insufficient to send enough blood to distant parts ofyour body. However, these “poor circulation symptoms” are verycommon and you shouldn’t worry about them at all.You should consult a doctor if you suffer from dizziness, fainting, seriousdehydration (thirst) and excessively pale skin or fatigue.

HOW TO PREVENT HBP…??? Exercising 30 to 60 minutes a day can help bring down your blood pressure numbers by 4 to 9 mmHg DASH Diet : The DASH diet consists of eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, low-fat dairy, lean meats, and fish. Eliminate foods high in saturated fats, trans fats, and cholesterol, such as processed foods, whole milk dairy products, fatty meats, and fried food. If you have high blood pressure, keeping your sodium intake to a minimum is vital. limiting your sodium intake to less than 1,500 mg of sodium a day. That’s a little over half a teaspoon. Weight and blood pressure go hand in hand. The extra fat around your waist, called visceral fat, is troublesome because the fat tends to surround organs in the abdomen, which can lead to high blood pressure. Asian men are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 36 inches (91 cm). Asian women are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 32 inches (81 cm). People with high blood pressure who smoke are at greater risk for developing dangerously high blood pressure by taking alcohol , fagging or even from stress. Lastly, refer to a doctor and be under medical supervision .

HOW TO PREVENT LBP…??? Eat a diet higher in salt. Drink lots of non-alcoholic fluids Limit alcoholic beverages. Get regular exercise to promote blood flow. Be careful when rising from lying down or sitting. Before standing up, rotate your feet and ankles a few times. This exercise will help you to improve circulation. Then proceed slowly. When getting out of bed, sit upright on the edge of the bed for a few minutes before standing. Avoid prolonged exposure to hot water, such as hot showers and spas. If you get dizzy, sit down. It may be helpful to keep a chair or stool in the shower in case you need to sit; to help prevent injury, use a nonslip chair or stool designed for use in showers and bath tubs. To avoid problems with low blood pressure and lessen episodes of dizziness after meals, try eating smaller, more frequent meals. Cut back on carbohydrates. Take rest after eating . Avoid taking drugs to lower blood pressure before meals.

SASTA – SUNDAR KE PITAARE SE… FOR HBP patients: Garlic capsule once a day can also lower your blood pressure Mix half onion juice with half honey and drink two tablespoons once a day, for two weeks Brown rice ( contains calcium) in diet along with a boiled potato. Take 30 to 40 grams of curry leaves every day to lower your blood pressure. Carrots and spinach are good for a lot of things.
