Alumni Interviews Interview with Michael Peterson Interview with Madison Perez By Raven Slaughter By Savannah Perez What year did you graduate? 2020 What are you doing now that you have graduated? Studying radiology at ASU What is the difference between high school and the real world? Mainly the routine, in high school your routine was set every day and in college, it’s always different and interchangeable. What did high school prepare you for and not prepare you for? It prepared me for waking up early but it didn't help prepare me for being disciplined enough to crack down and actually study enough. Zayda as a little girl! What are your favorite hobbies to do? Some hobbies I enjoy are hanging out with my friends and building trucks. What would you like to accomplish during your time in college? I want to get my degree in athletic training. I plan to transfer to ASU next year and apply for the physical training program and hopefully get an internship during the summer. What's the difference between high school and college? The main difference for me is that you cannot procrastinate as you can in high school. In college, everything is up to you. You have to study and get your work done because if not, you'll get far behind. What are your plans after college? I plan to get a job with a college baseball team to pursue my athletic training career. What are two things you'd like to improve in your life or as a person? A few things I would like to improve in my life are being better at not procrastinating and building better studying skills. I have a tendency to put things off until the last minute and I'm bombarded with homework. I also wish to have better studying skills because there are some things in college that you HAVE to study for. I have never been much of a study person but in college, you NEED to. How do you like to spend your free time? Whenever I am not doing college work or at work. I am most of the time with my buddies. Were either at my apartment or at my buddy Quinn's. Do you still have some of the same friends in college that you did in high school? Some of my closest friends out of high school: are Quinn Crosskno, Ethan Bryant, Monroe Carr, and Adam Lloyd. Ever since we have graduated, I have become so close with these guys. I am almost always with them. I will say, once you graduate, the number of people you talk to from your class will eventually drop. You will find out who your friends for life will be and who you really enjoy being around.

New Student Interview Elizabeth Rose By Emily King Elizabeth Rose, the quiet and talented junior from Asia, has a lot to say. She has recently moved here from Singapore, finding Arkansas much more fascinating than we give it credit for. “Singapore was fast- paced and hectic compared to Arkansas. Everything was within walking distance, and we all took public transport. It is so much easier academically here; I did what was required in college algebra about two years ago,” she told us. She came from a preppy all-girls school where prom and homecoming were nothing but a fantasy. “Malls were within walking distance and everyone lived in apartments or penthouses. I’m not used to seeing houses,” she also said during her interview. Other major differences between urban Singapore and rural Armorel are that people over there use more public transportation than we do and they follow the British accent. Apart from the interesting tell-all we received about Singapore, we also caught word of something else that sets her apart from the rest: she is a multi-talented triathlete. If you didn’t know, a triathlete is someone who swims, cycles, and runs in triathlons. Her dedication runs deep when it comes to triathlons, as she gets up at four in the morning to swim before school every single day, inspired by her mother, who is a national swimmer. Her goals regarding being a triathlete include at least representing America or Singapore in a national championship one day and making triathlons more known to people around this area. We wish her the best of luck in chasing her dreams. Armorel is rooting for you, Elizabeth!!

Student Creative Writing ‘Til Death Do Us Part By: Anna Claire Jowers “It’s 5:00 in the evening on May 18, 2072, we have some great news here in the Nashville area, as w all know Tesla has now come out with the flying car. It is coming to our area, we are now in the futuristic ti-” “John, I need a break from all this new crazy stuff going on in the world.” says Sophie. “Okay honey, how about we read this,” says John looking and picking up a journal on the bookshelf. “Yes, please!” Sophie said. They met outside, John had the journal, his readers, and his phone. Sophie brought some sweet tea and her phone. They sat on some modern outdoor luxury seating and kicked their feet up on the ottoman. Sipping his first sip of tea, John started to read the journal. “October 12, 2021, Sometimes, I’m just a guy who needs to be loved and appreciated. I need support. I think I’m lost. But to be you know what, I’m ok because I don’t need someone all the time, I’m the best. I’m independent and I freaking love myself. I mean I’m hot, I’m sexy, and irresistible. I like to go around and hang with my friends and have a few drinks. Sometimes a smoke, too, but I don’t like to do that all the time. I just get one from Tyler sometimes. On the other hand, I need a girl I can protect and spoil. This girl I met today, mmm, she is so foine. I’m in loveeee. Oh my God, she is beautiful, I just want to be with her. So I was at Blue City Cafe getting some lunch and I see her. She’s singing and for a moment everything stops around me. All I can hear is her beautiful angelic voice, I can see her dazzling face. Her eyes are so majestic and blue. I was lost in them. Her hair is brown and wavy. It’s

fascinating, I could tell I was in love at that moment. I decided to go up to the stage and drop a 5 in the tip bucket. When I got up there, we made eye contact. She stuttered in her singing and can’t take her eyes off of me, me the same to her. She finally came back out of her trance. I walked away still glancing back at her. She finished her song and her set was over. She came to my table after and we exchanged our Snapchat. “Awww, I remember that like it was yesterday. I’m still as much in love with you as I was at that moment.” Sophie said, looking at John. “I know. I wish we were still that young so we could relive life together all over again.” said John. “I’m going to keep reading, ok?” “Ok” Sophie responded. “October 14, 2021, Today, I had to go back to school. Sophie and I were snapping all day. She was in Geometry, and she got in trouble for being on her phone. She said, ‘When you snapped me, Ashley and Diana were looking over my shoulder underneath the desk. And the teacher saw, and she took my phone till the end of class. I was so freaking mad!!! She is so rude!’ I told her it was going to be alright and that she would get it soon enough. The sad part about it to me is that I had to go about 30 minutes without texting her. I was lost, I had known her for what? 2 days? And I loved talking to her, I can’t stand it. Later, she texted me and she was so pretty. She had sent me a full face picture with a filter, which she could have not had and she would’ve been just as pretty or even prettier.” “I remember that day, I hated that teacher, she was so strict. She always got everyone in trouble even though they didn’t do anything.\" “October 18, 2021, Soooooo, we met up today!! I’m so happy. We went to a pumpkin patch outside of Nashville, in Franklin. It was so pretty. She was dressed so beautifully. She had her makeup on and her hair curled and she had this flannel shirt on with some pretty colors and some ripped jeans. We ended up picking out some pumpkins. I picked out a decent sized pumpkin and she picked out a medium sized pumpkin, out of coincidence. So being the girly girl she is, she said ‘Omg, we have to pick out a baby.’ And of course we did and we had a family of pumpkins. Later that night, we were in my car about to leave and I looked at her after putting on my seatbelt and she met me and our lips touched and just like that we had our first kiss.” To be continued...
