Letter Ipen this epistle for reasons more than one. The main objective is to express my gratitude to my juniors, friends, relatives, well-wishers and valued clients who wholehearteddly revealed their love and respect for me by their valuable presence and support on the Golden Jubilee Celebration of my 50 years of active practice in the legal profession. On 22.01.2019, (after 50 years of active practice) I did not fail to remember with a sense of deep graditude my father, Mr. A. Kanthaswamy Nadar, my mother Mrs. Thangam and my brother Mr. K. Arumugaperumal, who with great confidence in me flushed out money for my studies all through. My sister-in-law Mrs. Eswaravadivu and my sister K. Padmavathi helped me a lot for making me a man of this stature. Above all, at home, my wife D. Renganayagi has created congenial atmosphere for my professional achievements. My facebook posting on 22.01.2019 reads: “Today, a day to remember my parents. Today is the day my beloved mother’s ambition to see me a lawyer with the support of my great father got fulfilled. 28

Justice Doraiswamy Raju “Kanaka Durga” 20 (Old 39), Former Judge, Supreme Court of India Puram Prakash Road, Balaji Nagar, Formerly: Chief Justice - Himachal Pradesh High Royapettah, Chennai - 600 014. Court judge: Madras High Court Ph: 044 - 2813 3090, 2813 2825, 2813 0780 Chairman: Railway Rates Tribunal of India Fax: 044 - 4208 5763 Dear and Respected Sir, 15th March 2019 I deem it a great pleasure and privilege to associate myself with the Golden jubilee celebration of Sri. K. Ratnaswamy’s, 50 years practice at the Bar. My acquaintance with Mr. K. Ratnaswamy started in the year 1972, when he used to visit the chambers of Shri. S. Mohan, then Government Pleader in Madras High Court (later judge of the High Court and Supreme Court of India) for entrusting his briefs to him for conduct in the High Court. The friendship continued thereafter as well, since after elevation of Shri. S. Mohan, I was holding all such briefs and conducting them in High Court. From his younger days and initial stages of professional career, Sri Ratnasamy used to be methodical, painstaking and thorough in preparation of his briefs factually and legally and by his assiduous and hard work as well as suave manners he became a role model of rectitude and high proficiency required of a successful member of the legal fraternity. Consequently, it is but natural that the new entrants to the Bar sought for his guidance, which Sri. Ratnasamy reciprocated with love resulting in almost more than 80 members becoming the beneficiaries of his training. The pinnacle and glory of such laudable effort of K. Ratnasamy could successfully equil them to reach very high positions as judicial officers, law officers and leading members of the Bar in their own town. True to the traditions of this noble profession which contributed stalwarts to the cause of freedom struggle against foreign rule and amelioration of the conditions of the members of the society at large, Sri Ratnasamy also widened the area of his operation to assist and associate with upcoming education institutions, literary and cultural organisations in the Kanyakumari District giving them succour and support to effectively serve, the cause of humanity and rehabilitation of human virtues. Thus, there no wonder that he is appreciated and has the acclamation of one and all without any reservations whatsoever. While that be so, it is but natural too that Banking Institutions, Educational Institutions and national fame Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project seek his advice and keep him on their role for consultation and advice. My humble prayers to the Almighty Lord to bestow upon Sri K. Ratnasamy, my dear and esteemed friend good health, long life and peace of mind to achieve greater laurels and commendations in life and serve the cause of legal fraternity and the society at large. The celebration committee also deserves to be congratulated for organizing the event which will go a long way to encourage the new entrants and junior members of the Bar to emulate the noble qualities and standards of professional ethics for which in my view Sri. K. Ratnasamy is a “Living Legand.” Wish the function also grand and glorious success. To Sincerely yours, Shri. A. Shunmugiah, M.A., M.Phil. D.J. Justice Doraiswamy Raju Coordinator Former Judge, Supreme Court of India Advocate K. Ratnasamy Golden Jubilee Celebration Nagercoil-1. 41

Message I am pleased to know that Mr. K. Ratnasamy attained 50 years of his service as an Advocate and I heartily congratulate him for his tireless service and sacrifice. In early days, I was astonished by his personalilty when he participated Bharathya Jana Sangh meeting under the leadership of our great leader Mr. Jana Krishnamoorthy. It is said when we are beautiful, it is God's gift to us. When we live our life beautiful, it is our gift to God. As I come across with the life of Mr. K. Ratnasamy, I realize that he lives his life beautifully. In Ramayana we learn, great 'Jambavan' makes Hanuman realize his immense capabilities and encourages him to fly across the Ocean and with that strength Hanuman achieved the goal. It is Mr. K. Ratnasamy who embodies the role of Jambavan to lead his juniors attaining good positions in their respective career. I pray god for his long live of life as Chiranjeevi to get more benefits for the society. With regards, M.R. Gandhi 47

Adv. P. Paramadhas Past President Nagercoil Bar Association Message “Lawyers are the social scientists of a civilised society.” Today people approach courts through advocates for resolving diverse and complex issues touching all aspects of human life, be it education, employment, human rights, public health, deficiency in service (consumerism), environmental problems, reservation, elections and so on. So in this changing scenario advocates are required to update their knowledge and improve their skills by acquainting themselves with the latest development in law and other fields of human knowledge. Society demands high morality, great sacrifice and deep learning on the part of lawyers. Our Grand sire (Beeshmar-Hon’ble K. Ratnasamy) is an embodiment of all the above qualities and virtues. He has rendered his good office for the welfare of the Nagercoil Bar Association at times of crisis. The contribution of his juniors to judicial service is commendable. His 50 years of unblemished service is a guiding light to young lawyers. May God the Almighty give him long life to serve the people more and more. 50
