The Partnership for Children has long held the vision that children will receive the start they need to become educated, healthy, and self‐reliant people who strengthen the social and economic future of Wayne County. In order to be academically successful, children must feel a sense of belongingness and love in their homes, community, anRdecslaossurorocmess. Children are in the care of early childhood educators for more hours than they are at home during the week. It would make sense that they provide the highest quality of care, and emo onal/social support for our children of Wayne County. We have our work cut out for us – this is evident through various sta s cs that detail adverse childhood experiences (ACES), educa onal needs of children, health needs of children and families, and safety needs in our community. While sta s cs may be discouraging and alarming, our community has come a long way in 21 years and we will con nue to come together as a community to posi vely impact our children and families. Our annual mee ng falls on the opening weekend of “A Beau ful Day in the Neighborhood” which is the story of Mr. Fred Rogers; one of America’s most beloved advocates for young children and an advocate of emo onal supports, and above all else, kindness. As Mr. Rogers stated, “look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping…I am always comforted by realizing that there are s ll so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.” Thank you to our Partnership for Children staff, partners, supporters, and friends for “helping” us to do great things with the children and families in Wayne County. Let our journey con nue by being the “helpers” and together we will do great things for our children, families and child care community. Valerie Wallace Execu ve Director
