Marty is recognized for his impressive cuts that represents his attention to detail to help his clients achieve their desired look. InSeptember of 2011, he was laid off from his job at Lowe’s where he worked for 5 years. After this life-changing event, Marty began providing haircuts to friends and family. As he sharpened his skills, and with much prac- tice, hard work, support and dedication, he turned his side hustle into a career and has never looked back. In July of 2013, Marty graduated from the District of Columbia’s Bennett Career Institute and became a licensedbarber stylist. Since then, he has won various awards in local barber competitions. Among those awards, Martywon 3rd place in the Tag Team competition at the 2018 DC Barber Expo, Immac Magazine’s 2018 DMV’s Bad- dest Barber, 2018 Shani Gray’s Beauty Ball as Trailblazer of the year, 2nd place for Best Kids Cut at the 2015 Xotics Barber Battle, and 1st place in multiple professional and student competitions at Bennett Career Insti- tute including Barber of the Year, and Best Barber Creation. Marty is an entrepreneur and business owner who is committed to contributing to the community. From the Summer of 2014 through 2017, he partnered with a non-profit named Teach ‘em To Fish which was featuredin the local Gazette news. Teach ‘em to Fish is a business incubator that assists entrepreneurs with starting and maintaining their businesses. Marty managed the barbershop which was in the Bladensburg, Maryland area. The shop afforded several barbers and stylists an opportunity to grow their businesses. He has also presented training at P.G. Community College with the CEO’s of MGM Grand concerning professionalism in the work-place, provided free barbering services at Oak Hill Youth Detention Center in Laurel, MD, and served at mul-tiple back-to-school events in the DMV area. You will find Marty the Barber engaging on various social mediaplatforms and events, collaborating with new and seasoned barber professionals, in order to build a strong net-work, to promote the best grooming services in the hair industry.
