Jack and the Beanstalk (Seed Sowing) Blooming Buds of BIS sowed the seeds in disposable glasses and were fascinated to see how the seeds were sown into the soil, eagerly waiting for the magical beanstalks; the plants to pop out of the soil, taking them to their world of imagination. They took care of the seeds by watering them daily. When the sapling popped out through the soil, the biggest smile and a feeling of ardor appeared on their faces, feeling hopeful about their dream and its fulfillment. With this hands on activity they learned the importance of water and light for the plants to grow.
Sprinkling Life (Watering the Plants Activity) “The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul.” -Austin Alfred Children learn the best when they use their hands for the same. Water is an essential element not only for humans but even for plants. Heads of tomorrow, the tiny hands picked the watering cans and watered the thirsty plants of school nursery. Their hearts were filled with joy and their faces lit up like light bulbs, brighter than the sun- while sprinkling a bit of rain around them. Their beaming eyes showed that such activities had stimulated their interest in gardening by quenching the thirst of the plants daily.
Building A Green Tomorrow Keeping the essence of the theme of the month in mind, budding artists performed their craft on the topic “Life Cycle of a plant.” This activity brought out the creativity and imagination of young, creative minds. Walking with the Trees (Nature Walk) “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” -John Muir Nurturing a connection between students and nature can build empathy and respect towards the environment around us. A nature walk is an excellent way to stimulate a child’s appreciation for the natural world. A nature walk was therefore organized for the young ones wherein they witnessed different varieties and kinds of plants, trees, and flowers. Through this activity, they were encouraged to make discoveries, be creative and solve green mysteries.

In addition to it, the citizens of tomorrow took a pledge and promised that they would show kindness and extend their helping hand to humankind. Thus, the purpose of the celebration of the pink ribbon was fulfilled.

Students of KG-II made a model of different parts of the plant and replicated their learning.
The River that Flows Inside Plants (Capillary Action) “Science is the knowledge of consequences and dependence of one fact upon another.”-Thomas Hobbes Capillary action helps to bring water up into the roots. Continuing with the theme of the month “Plants”, kindergarteners performed a time-lapse STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) experiment of ‘climbing water’, so as to comprehend how water flows in different parts of a plant. Capillary action occurs because water molecules bond together due to forces of cohesion and adhesion. It was a stimulating session for all students which enthralled each one of them, teaching them about the basic principle about the river that flows inside plants.
Blooming Buds (Blooming Flowers Activity) “Thought is the blossom, language the bud, action the fruit behind it” - Ralph Waldo Emerson Various hands-on activities enhance concentration and help in finding solutions and staying focused on the same. It was a lovely and exciting night, exactly the kind of night Halloween should be.” -Eleanor Estes Halloween was celebrated with spooky costumes worn by the young ones and craft-making sessions. There were happy ‘vampires’, ‘fairies’, ‘witches’, ‘goblins’, and other interesting monsters. Exhilarating spooky experiments added thrill to their excitement. The Dying Forest (Role Play) Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree long time ago. Forests are where mankind got their origin. Forests provide vital habitats for the creatures of the world since time immemorial. A role play was enacted by the teachers of kindergarten to demonstrate not to cut plants and trees, that make up the green homes which we have manipulated to form the modern world and how it is disturbing mother earth. They also educated the students that more plants and trees should be planted to make the earth a better place to live in.
The World of Numericals Knowledge is power. It should always relate to reality. This is how learners learn their lessons for life. The young mathematicians of BIS did various activities to enhance their knowledge on the previously-taught mathematical concepts. They squealed with joy whenever they attained the right number. Their curiosity was quenched and they found a renewed interest in learning numbers.
Flowers and Bees Human mind is designed in such a way that we can recall the hands-on engagement more clearly than the theoretical download.
