As Beautiful as a Poem In an age of tweets and hashtags, the brevity of a poem should be the perfect art form for students today. Unfortunately, this most creative form of literature gets neglected with the insistence of practicality over creativity. The ‘Hindi Poetry Meet’ organized at BIS on 21st May 2023 brought about a total change to the students’ perspective of poems. Five eminent Hindi poets, namely Mrs. Sneha Dev, Mrs. Anu Bafna, Ms. Pallavi Jain, Ms. Lalitha Misra and Mr. Shabbir Hussain Munawer were invited to the school for the Poetry Meet. They interacted with the students of Grades IX and X. Students were made aware of the importance of poetry and were encouraged to express their thoughts, ideas and emotions through means of poetry. Principal, Mr. Saji Jacob thanked the poets for the interesting session and urged the students to take a keen interest in poetry.

Fun With Mathematics “Mathematics is like going to gym for your brain. It sharpens your mind.” An inter-house Speed Math Competition for Grades V and VI was conducted on 18th May 2023. The preliminary round was conducted on 11th May 2023. The event helped the students identify their capabilities and motivate them to learn and expand their knowledge. It also enhanced the inquisitiveness of the students, thereby building confidence, mental prowess, and learning at the same time. These competitions play a significant role in stimulating the logical and thinking skills of the students than just winning prizes. Inter- House Chess Competition Life is often compared to a game of chess, where every decision we make has a consequence. As the legendary chess player Garry Kasparov once said, \"Life is a kind of chess, with struggle, competition, good and ill events.\" The game of chess has a rich history, dating back nearly 1800 years to its earliest known predecessor, Chaturanga. Today, chess is played by over 600 million people worldwide keeping this tradition alive and to promote the spirit of chess. An Inter House Chess competition was held in the month of April and many students participated, displaying their strategic thinking and analytical skills. The competition was a reminder that every decision we make in life, just like in chess, has an impact on our future. As the writer and philosopher Allan Rufus said, \"Life is like a game of chess. You have to make a move, and if it doesn't work out, make another move and another move, until you find the right one.\" The chess competition was an opportunity for students to learn and grow, not just in the game but in life as well. Congratulation to all the winners and participants for participating!

Carrom Competition The Department of Sports organized the eagerly anticipated Inter-House Carrom competition to promote students’ engagement in indoor sports. Students of Grades 1-12 participated in the event and displayed their exceptional carrom skills. Principal Mr Saji Jacob congratulated the winners and urged the students’ to pay equal importance to sports and games too, along with academics.

From the Editor’s Desk Welcome to the end of the May edition of Bhavanasmita. I heard this quote about May, “May is a month of uncertainties. It may be sunny, it may rain, it may snow and it may be the driest ever”. As I am writing this, it is 31st May, with a dust storm clouding up the vision of many. This month, was a month of opportunities as well, with the month being filled with celebration, starting with Labour Day and ending with BISMUN’23, where the theme reflected a Galaxy of Possibilities. A lot of rhyming words hide in the editor’s pen, of course. So, should we convert them into a poem, can we not? May, a month of uncertainty Exists as an aberration Between the Month of April and June, a creation Of a lack of creativity But with uncertainty Comes opportunity And possibilities To create or destroy cities To create minds that think That never ever dull Like Titanic’s hull Or minds that sink So, with uncertainty Must come opportunity And possibilities That’s the reason for creativity Warmest Regards… Thanks and Regards Editorial Team (Students & Staff) Designed by, Department of Computer Science.
