I AM ALWAYS IN A MOOD TO EAT HEALTHY FOOD Life is a bowl of cherries so laugh, love, and live. To elucidate the theme of the month, kindergartners indulged themselves in a cherry-full activity. Fruits should be an indispensable part of a child’s diet. The nutrition they receive during their growing years will have an incredible results. To make them comprehend the prominence of the fruits, a plethora of activities were conducted. While making their favourite red fruits, the beam in their eyes was unfathomable. It was indeed an activity they cherished.

NOURISH TO FLOURISH \"Be a pineapple: Stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside.\" -Catherine Gaskin Pineapple is a delicious tropical fruit. Be it pineapple juice or in the form of fruit salad, children always get fascinated by pineapple. To enhance their interest in eating fruits, craft on yellow fruits was conducted with our tiny buds. Thematic crafts add knowledge as well as create pleasurable memories for children. Kindergartners felt elated when they accomplished the task.

TO LIVE WELL IS TO EAT WELL Full of water Full of sweet Juicy, messy treat to eat. Watermelons are almost synonymous with summer-cool, refreshing, and a treat on a hot summer day. Be it eating a slice of fresh watermelon, its health benefits are innumerable. Pandering in a creative thematic craft of green fruits allowed children to engage in complex thinking. Making crafts on green fruits made them inquisitive about green fruits and develop the craving to include them in their diet.

EATING WELL IS A FORM OF SELF-RESPECT I am the lovely carrot I am actually a root I love sunshine I am shaped like a long cone Orange or pink or red A bunch of leaves that you must eat Grow on my head. Carrots are nutritional heroes. They store goldmines of nutrients including many important vitamins and minerals. Children love to eat carrots as salads as well as in the form of vegetables. Pre-KG children were elated to make beautiful gigantic mushrooms with paper folding and colouring the stalk. Young buds indulged themselves in vegetable printing activity and comprehended the health benefits of eating vegetables.

A HEALTHY OUTSIDE STARTS FROM A HEALTHY INSIDE To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art. It’s a challenge to encourage little boys and girls to eat fruits and vegetables every day. Kindergartners were encouraged to eat healthy and appetizing sandwiches through the activity of healthy sandwich making. Students were explained about different vegetables and their nutritious value. Early childhood is an important time to establish healthy eating patterns. A balanced diet is the key to healthy eating habits because it provides children with the nutrients they need to grow. Eat healthily, stay healthy!

HEALTHY FRUIT SALAD FOR HEALTHY ME! In the oranges, fruit salad time! Bananas, apples, fruit salad time! In the cherries, strawberries, too Fruit salad time for me and you! Fresh fruits are naturally sweet and packed with huge nutritional benefits as well. People who eat fruit as part of an overall healthy diet generally have a reduced risk of chronic diseases. To inculcate healthy eating habits, Fruit Salad Day was celebrated. It was a joyful and fruitful day for the kids as they enjoyed their participation and learned the good habit of sharing and caring. Children showcased their artistic expressions on the platter which were replicas of nature. It was a perfect amalgamation of beauty, finesse, and taste.

LET’S SIP GLASS FULL OF DELIGHTFUL JUICE Drink your way to better health. Drink water and fresh fruit juice. Learning is an active process. We learn by doing. Only knowledge that is used sticks in your mind. The best way to learn is to explore, think and create. The activity of painting the favourite juice glass was done to encourage the students to drink water and fresh juices. The wonder in their eyes was evident as they comprehended the importance of keeping their body hydrated. It was an effective way to learn about the importance of healthy drinks.

YOU CAN FIND MAGIC WHEREVER YOU LOOK! When learning is merged with fun, it's a different learning experience. Teachers are magicians and mentors with a magic wand in their hands. Kindergartners enjoyed the ‘Magic Box Activity’ wherein different fruits and vegetables were taken out from the magic box and children had to guess the name of the same. It was learning with loads of fun activities.

THE WORLD IS BUT A CANVAS FOR IMAGINATION “The most effective kind of education is that a child should play amongst lovely things.” -Plato Learning the alphabet is the building block of literacy. Children learn to recognize and name the letters, and sounds associated with those letters. These alphabets help to form the basis of their language and communication for a lifetime. Pre-KG and KG-I students learned the alphabet through craft activities which marked the learning in their minds forever.

THE JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES STARTS WITH A SINGLE STEP “Play builds the kind of free and easy, try it out, do it yourself character that our future needs.” -James. L. Hymes. Jr Fine motor skills involve the use of small muscles that control the hands, fingers, and thumbs. They help children perform important tasks like feeding themselves, grasping toys, buttoning and zipping clothes, writing, drawing, and more. The ability to take care of oneself and perform everyday tasks on their own helps a child to build his self-esteem and increases their confidence. Simple STEAM activities splurged the excitement of young children. These activities strengthen their tender muscles and add dexterity to their fingers.

YOGA IS THE JOURNEY OF THE SELF, THROUGH THE SELF, TO THE SELF Exercise not only alters your body, but it also changes your mind, your attitude, and your mind. On account of International Yoga Day, kindergartners participated with their exuberance and vigour in a week-long ‘Fit, Fab and Fun’ Week while learning how to stay fit and healthy. Staying indoors and sedentary behavior can result in low physical health and can impact their well-being. A surfeit of physical activities which comprises of Zumba, yoga, chair dance, and embellishing like fruits and vegetables were conducted over the week. Finally, the little ones were clear about one fact – they need to exercise regularly to keep themselves fit.

FRUIT IS OFTEN MIRACULOUS Spirit of fruit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Teaching good habits and manners is an integral part to teach young students. To instill core moral values in our children right at the budding age, children performed ‘Spirit of Fruit’ activity. This activity helped them to imbibe nine qualities in them.

THE BEST WAY TO TEACH STUDENTS IS BY TELLING A STORY “Stories are memory aids, instruction manuals, and moral compasses.” - Aleks Krotoski Stories are our primary tools of learning and teaching, the repositories of our lore and legends. Children learn not just by hearing the teachers but also by performing actions. Kindergarteners involved themselves in some serious learning through story time. The story of ‘The Dancing Grapes’ was narrated through a simple science experiment. Children were engrossed in the stories and learned the concept of sinking and floating as well.

THE HEART OF A FATHER IS A MASTERPIECE OF A NATURE ‘Your arms were always open when I needed a hug, your heart understood when I needed a friend, your gentle eyes were stem when I needed a lesson, your strength gave me the wings so that I could learn to fly.’ Is there anything sweeter than the little ones sharing a special bond with their daddy? Some of the activities that the little princess and princesses can’t get enough from their daddies are reading, playing sports, getting dressed by them and having daddies to feed them. My father is a man like no other. He believes in me, protects me, strengthens me, but most of all he loves me unconditionally. There aren’t enough words to describe what my father means to me. He is my real-life hero. Keeping all these emotions in our hearts, Kindergartners celebrated Father's Day where fathers and their adorable wards participated in a virtual online celebration. Students were jubilant to perform with their dads. It was a joyous feeling for them to recite their feelings for their super dad through acrostic poems and they presented cards with heartfelt messages.

A GLASS OF LEMONADE A DAY KEEPS THE WORRIES AWAY “Summer is the time for lemonade We’ll have it here, That we made, Let’s sip it in the nice cool shade, Until summer’s heat begins to fade” The light and fresh fragrance of lemon is perfect for the summer. Their bright yellow color is uplifting too. Lemonade fun activity was conducted by the kindergarteners. They squeezed the lemon added salt, sugar, and water to it. They stirred and mixed it until it dissolved well. The young minds felt elated as they attained the feeling of achievement by making lemonade on their own. They sipped together the juice and felt refreshed. All the students enjoyed the activity and learned the value of sharing and caring as well.

CREATIVITY IS A NATURAL EXTENSION OF OUR ENTHUSIASM “Teaching means creating situations where structures can be developed.” -Jean Piaget Kindergartners excitedly learned the theme of the month -Fruits and Vegetables. They dressed like their favourite fruit or vegetable and spoke about the same. The activity aimed to allow the learners to engage with and learn about different kinds of fruits and vegetables by giving them a real-life experience. The little munchkins were very inquisitive and thrilled to learn about different types of healthy fruits and vegetables as they were able to relate themselves to a variety of fruits and vegetables.

HEALTH IS A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR BODY ‘Heave-Ho, Heave Ho’, the famous enormous turnip song was sung by kindergartners while performing the role play on ‘The Enormous Turnip’. Students replicated the story as they disguised themselves as farmer, wife, son, daughters, dogs, cats, and mice. Along with learning the song, they learned the moral of the story which is collaboration, if we all work together; we can do anything.

THE EARTH HAS MUSIC FOR THOSE WHO LISTEN “Nurture the nature for a better future.”-Devakumar G As residents of this planet, we must pledge to take care of it, and nurture it so that we may continue to enjoy the wonders of the natural world. Every individual effort counts in this effort to safeguard the environment so we must take charge and do our part in this endeavour. Young environmentalists, our kindergarteners promised to reduce, reuse and recycle the waste products and put them into use for a cause. They converted waste egg trays into jigsaw puzzles and solved them. To develop their aesthetic sense, they performed pebble art too.

LEARNING CAN HAPPEN WHILE HAVING FUN \"Mathematics is not a contemplative but a creative subject\" – G.H Hardy The students of Pre-KG learned about number introduction through counting and craft activities. Good intuition about numbers and their relationships develops gradually by exploring them and visualizing them in a variety of contexts.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY; IT’S THE ONLY PLACE YOU HAVE TO LIVE IN Fill your plate with the colours of the rainbow. What pleases the eye, pleases the body Including all the nutrients on our plate plays a pivotal role in shaping a healthy body and a healthy mind. KG-II students learned about healthy plate making and learned the importance of including various colours in a healthy plate.

IT IS SUMMERTIME, TIME TO RELAX AND MAKE NEW MEMORIES An end-of-term party was organized for the young learners to celebrate the end of a wonderful and exciting first term before they start enjoying their summer vacations. The pupils enjoyed the day with a lot of fun and happy moments to cherish. Painting, dancing, and games along with music created a great party atmosphere. They all wished happy summer holidays to their friends and teachers. Happy Holidays!
