EXCHANGE PROGRAMS “Men are mortal. So are ideas. An idea needs propagation as much as a plant needs watering. Otherwise both will wither and die.” - BR. Ambedkar Knowledge is like money, to be of value it must circulate, and in circulating, it can increase in quantity and hopefully in value. Exchange of ideas and thoughts are the roots on which a world grows and develops. Exchange programs are bridges that connect students to the outside world, students in turn become the medium for the propagation of these ideas and thoughts. Such programs instigate curiosity along with an explorative and creative mind. Bhavanubhav | Annual Magazine - Vol. VIII | Page No. 114

Tip 1: Create a List One effective way of staying focused on being healthy and fit, is to create a list of everything you want to do in your free time, be it watching a movie or skipping. Start creating a list when numbered items or things to do in terms of highest priority. Start from the top working your way to the bottom. Once you finish this task , you will find yourself with a list of activities you actually value and care about performing. Choose to complete at least three of the items on the list per day, even if it is just for 10-15 minutes. It will help you be more focused and persistent towards accomplishing your daily goals of staying healthy and fit. Tip 2: Incorporate An Active Lifestyle If you are super busy to include a workout like a dance or a proper gym session in your daily routine, it is essential to include certain exercises into your lifestyle in order to stay fit and to continuously work your muscles and body. For example, you can take stairs instead of the elevator, or carry shopping bags home rather than driving back home, or you could just meet a friend over a swim session instead of coffee. Tip 3: Sleep Well One of the easiest things to do is sleep properly. While 8 hours might be a luxury for people with busy schedule, around 6-7 hours of sleep is vital. After a productive day at home post cooking and cleaning or at work, or even at the gym, you need to give rest to your body for its physical and mental well-being. According to a survey conducted in 2016 , people who sleep for limited hours tend to eat an extra 400 calories per day on an average. So, clock in those hours and enjoy your deep sleep to the fullest! Tip 4: Stay Hydrated The simplest and the most effective way of staying healthy and fit is by staying hydrated at all times. It helps in losing weight, staying healthy and energized. One should drink water to cut off the thirst and hunger as it is believed that water is the best energy drink available. One way to find out how much water the body needs on a daily basis, it by dividing your body weight (in pounds) by 2, that is how many ounces of water you should drink every day. - Dharshak A V Grade VIII Aryabhatta Bhavanubhav | Annual Magazine - Vol. VIII | Page No. 124
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The SDGs are universal goals for all people and are inherently global in nature. There are 17 SDGs in total to achieve by 2030. This year’s goal is Goal No. 5 which is to achieve gender equality. In a society, everyone has the right to lead his/her life accordingly without any discrimination. Every individual of society dreams for equal rights and access to resources available at their disposal, but there is a lot of discrimination. This discrimination can be due to cultural differences, geographical differences, racial differences, a person’s skin tone, social status and even gender. Gender equality can only be achieved when both male and female individuals are treated similarly, but discrimination is a social menace that creates division. We should stop being divided and stand together to tackle our problems. Poverty is also one of the major roadblocks towards gender equality. It has led to other malpractices such as child marriage, selling of minors, trafficking and child labor. Implementing gender equality all over the world is a great challenge. Together we should eradicate prejudice and gain freedom for all. There has been progress over the last decades: More girls are going to school, comparatively less amount of girls are forced into an early marriage, more women are serving in the parliament and positions of leadership and laws are being reformed to advance gender equality. Once all these menaces will be eradicated, every family will understand the value of a woman and our country will achieve gender equality in a real sense. Women are creating examples everywhere and we all should highlight them to change the scenario and give them equal rights. The climate crisis is not “gender neutral”. Women and girls experience the greatest impacts of climate change, which amplifies existing gender inequalities and poses unique threats to their livelihoods, health, and safety. When disasters strike, women are less likely to survive and more likely to be injured due to long standing gender inequalities that have created disparities in information, mobility, decision-making, and access to resources and training. In the aftermath, women and girls are less able to access relief and assistance, further threatening their livelihoods, wellbeing and recovery, and creating a vicious cycle of vulnerability to future disasters. Women’s and girls’ health is endangered by climate change and disasters by limiting access to services and health care, as well as increasing risks related to maternal and child health. Research indicates that extreme heat increases incidence of stillbirth, and climate change is increasing the spread of vector-borne illnesses such as malaria, dengue fever, and Zika virus, which are linked to worse maternal and neonatal outcomes. Implementing gender equality all over the world is a great challenge. Together we should eradicate prejudice and strive towards gaining freedom for all. Sparkie is my uncle’s dog. He lives in the USA. I visited him this summer. He is an American Eskimo. He is like a cute little teddy bear. For the first time when I met him, he smelled and licked me and our friendship began. Every day, as soon as he used to get up, Sparkie would come near my room door and try and smell to see if I am there. As soon as he would see me, Sparkie would jump on me and run around and bring toys and ask me to pet and play with him. My mornings would be so much fun. We would later go for a walk around dog park where Sparkie used to meet his friend dogs and happily play with them. Upon returning, he would sleep like a baby. After eating his food and performing his tricks, I would give him his special treats. He loves blue berries. He has 2 friends Mojo and Whiskey with whom he plays with. I have to be always with Sparkie, otherwise he would search the whole house and sit sadly in a corner that I am not there. The funny thing was, if I hug my parents or grandparents, he will push others and try to come close and start to lickme. Also, if I call out “Sparkie”, he would come running from wherever he is. He would do whatever instructions I used to give him like Sit, Stand, Run, Jump, Up, Down, Turn, Stay, Walk etc. I love him very much. He always used to sit near me, play with me, sleep near me. He makes cute puppy faces. I love him to bits. When I was returning back to Bahrain, I wanted him to come with me but Amma said that my uncle and aunt also can’t live without Sparkie.
