Despite her challenges growing up and her son’s seven-year prison sentence, she achieved great things. One of which is becoming the CEO and Lead Owner of Georgia's first black woman owned CDL school, 3 Rivers Trucking School. She has now worked her way up through the ranks in the trucking industry. Her first job introducing her to trucking the industry was transporting team loads with her husband. She had always dreamed of traveling and the transportation industry allowed her to do it for a living - traveling to 48 states within the first six months. When she is not working, she gives back to the community. She loves to cook and volunteer with local organizations who feed the homeless and do coat drives during winter. She even hands out roses to young women on the street during valentine's day in downtown Atlanta. She also has recently launched a nonprofit for youth called the TRADE, which teaches young adolescents how to not react to their emotions and think the process through. For Mrs. Harris- Deadwiler, commitment means more than just saying you'll do something. Commitment is about taking action and making things happen. It's this commitment that has driven her to achieve so much in her career, and it's what continues to inspire her to do so much more.
