Fifth child in a loving and happy family of seven. A single mother of an 18 year old boy. At 12 years of age my parents - both civil servants - separated in a very traumatic way; my father had taken my mum's maid to be wife. There was a lot of abuse. I harboured a lot of anger, bitterness and unforgiveness. A lot of prayer and counselling helped me to break free as an adult. As a single mother the trauma and rejection pushed me to want to become someone. I enrolled for Dental Therapy in 2006. 2007, I lost two sisters one after the other, my academic work suffered. My last year was the toughest, the country experienced a severe economic downturn, we queued relentlessly for bread, fuel and money. There was no food in the shops. I remember going on popped dry corn at school the whole day and hustling during lunch breaks selling cosmetics – eating sadza (maize meal) and vegetables in the evenings, daily. On a number of occasions I walked for a distance of about 10km because I couldn't afford the daily escalating transport fares. One gruesome evening I had to wrestle among the many just to jump on a truck offering cheap fare just to get home and had to squat the whole way as there was no place to sit. Regardless, 2009 I got a job, graduated top of the class and received accolades. There was a dramatic shift in the economy – a new era dawned– the Unity Government. I applied this in my work and discovered that excellence wins therefore I served high end professionals, government officials, ambassadors et cetera. My skill and art led me before great man - Proverbs 18:16. Fast forwarding to 2020 when Covid19 hit I felt stuck again and wanted more. I started soul searching, writing and seeking God to reveal more of who I was. I had an epiphany, it is then I started remembering things I loved as a child; therein was the discovery of my purpose. I wanted to be a communicator. I started working on my communication skills, ardently. I worked everyday, started developing the graces and the discipline. The success I had with my fitness regimen and nutrition habits inspired me to do the same for communication. My family and friends started seeing a lot of change. I googled for a program I could take in Speaking and I found the John Maxwell Team. I signed in as a guest member and got a call. It was an amazing journey of Self Discovery. I struggled to raise money for the course but by the grace of God I started - it was an eye opening, mind-set shifting and purpose infusing program. Though I struggled a lot financially, I stayed in the process. I Certified in August this year as a Speaker, Coach and Trainer and am now a Maxwell Leadership Certified Member. I am finding joy in connecting with amazing people globally and my paradigm is shifting. I started out on my first book which is almost complete. I am now getting opportunities to speak and it's a beautiful start to living a life of purpose. I recently was invited to be part of an international conference in 2023 as a Global Speaker, looking forward to it and more. Like a butterfly that has just come out of its cocoon, I have a few projects I am embarking on - a wellness magazine and a coaching business to help people who feel stuck to find purpose and meaning in life through personal development so they can become all that God created them to be.
