PLASTIC PLANET - The ExhibitionAZKUNA ZENTROA2017 ORIGIN...June 21st - 25thBilbo Plastic Planet is a project developed from the encounter of contemporary artworks set out byCREDITS: artists belonging to the Austrian Media Art sceneScript & Storytelling - Kim Maiteny, Jon -specifically creators related to the futuristicK. Sanchez, Jaime de los Rios & Enrique festival of Ars Electronica- invited by the AustrianSancho. Cultural Forum in Madrid.Colour & Illustration - Enrique Sancho.Layout - Elena Jimenez. We understand Art as a fundamental part of ourFeminist Observatory - Kim Maiteny. legacy, despite its recipients and interpretationsTechnology observatory - Daniel Tirado & remaining unknown. The storytelling of thisJaime de los Rios. exhibition grows out of the artists themselves and branches into a science-fiction story consisting of comic, performance, dialogue and an exhibition. We enable the Atrium -Azkuna Zentroa- as ground for discussion where Art is interpreted, or perhaps where its impact, - its link to time- are the tracks we leave behind. Will Art be the path to understanding our culture in the future? Will what art awakens be the shortcut? Or will Art remain camouflaged? Plastic Planet brings humanity to a post-apocalyptic world, exposes its history, and reflects from our future about our present. All through the artwork of Media Art, Net Art and Sound Art creators. Ubermorgen’s binary primitivism; the improvement and waste of Marta P. Campos and Jürgen Ropp’s cyberbodies; Cesar Escudero’s interface guerrilla work; Karmelo Bermejo’s transfer of Art from the intellectual to the streets; Yen Tzu Chang’s memory’s old friends turned into digital files; and Stefan Tiefengraber’s sound of time of Jing. The artworks represent the situation of our Society in times of the Anthropocene, generating a subjective view of what would be left of us in a thousand years. Welcome to the Plastic Planet. BACKSTORYThey are those who have a wake for adead planet. They are those who rebuildits memory and keep it alive. They arethe architects that build funerary templesto honour late planets. They are theartists who shape the clayed memoriesinto sculptures drawn on the eternal nightof the universe. These sculptures/temples/wakes areholograms. Invisible holograms untila precise moment, when the star thatshone on the extinct planet reaches itslight zenith. One night for the planet, buta constant tinkling in the black quietnessof the universe. These beings are definitely the carriersof the Hologramcene. An age aloofthe ages. A time that is like an intervalvibration in a symphony of life and death.Jon K. Sanchez
