Hayden is 25 lives in Colorado Springs and is a pilot. MY WHY: I always wanted to ensure ALL students had an opportunity to be someone.

Currently, I am one of the Assistant Principals at the NGC YEARS IN EDUCATION: 17 years WHERE I ATTENDED SCHOOL: Texas State University @ SM with a Bachelors in ESS/Kinesiology. Masters in Educational Leadership from Lamar University ABOUT ME: My wife Jennifer and I have two girls (ages 10 and 6) who attend elementary school with their mother on her campus in San Marcos. I enjoy time with family, traveling, and working in solitude on our property….clearing land can be therapeutic MY WHY: I believe in positive connections and young people genuinely are seeking these out. Being apart of positive growth for all people is inspiring.

I love to sing and watch cartoons. I have a boyfriend and two dogs that I love and adore. MY WHY:I love helping children find their passions through learning.

Ed ABOUT ME:I am a wife to Jake, who is a football coach & teacher in Lockhart ISD. I am also a mom to twin 2.5 year olds, Parker & Peyton. This year will be my second year in NBISD, my fourth year counseling and my eighth year in education overall. MY WHY:When I began my career in education 8 years ago, I had no idea I would be where I am today. I really enjoy getting to know students on a personal level and help guide them through some of the toughest moments of their lives, to date. I believe that all kids have the ability to be successful in whatever they set their mind to and I love getting to be a part of that, even if it is just for a moment or many moments throughout the school year.

We also have two dogs, Chase and Dixie and enjoy traveling and enjoying the great outdoors. MY WHY:I think every student deserves someone who will believe in them and be on their side. I have always believed in being that person for my kids. I want students to leave my classroom knowing that they are believed in.

I previously taught 5th grade. I am starting my 3rd year as an Instructional Technology Specialist. I graduated with my undergrad from the University of Texas at San Antonio and have my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from UTSA as well. I come from a large family with 5 siblings, raised right in the Texas hill country. My two large dogs, Roscoe and Rylee keep me active. Last but not least, I have a wonderful husband, Blake and our baby boy will be joining us in January. MY WHY:I had a 5th grade teacher that helped me through my mom's terminal cancer. She never lowered her expectations for me, but taught me how to be resilient and made our classroom an escape from the sadness at home. I wanted to be that for students. Now I get to form relationships with teachers and be that safe space to help them and be a listening ear.

We have four beautiful kids and family is everything to me. I am from Springfield Missouri and moved to TX in 2004. We are always busy with kids sports, kids activities and kids school. When we have a chance to slow down, we love to sit on the back porch or watch Netflix. MY WHY: Love being involved with education and honored to work with those who do everything for the betterment of the kids!

ABOUT ME:I am a true supporter and fighter for the underdog. I was born and raised in the LBC, Long Beach California. I worked on the defense side in the Criminal Justice field for almost 20 years in Southern Califas. In Texas I was an advocate for victims of violent crimes. Back in Cali I worked with adult and minor defendants in and out of custody MY WHY:. I am a true believer in restorative justice. I have a heart for our at-risk youth and our youth period. Each one needs and deserves the chance to be seen, heard, understood, and supported. I was the ISS teacher for NGC for two years and now I am a PEIMS Clerk (attendance lady) at NGC.

As a family we love traveling, with our go to destinations Puerto Rico and Florida. We recently purchased our first home and moved to New Braunfels in summer 2021, when I was hired into the Unicorn family that same summer. On weekends you’ll find us barbecuing, bowling, running family 5Ks, and me, READING!!! :) MY WHY:“When I first started teaching I had students who hated reading and the library. By the end of the year I worked by curating a classroom library for my students, with daily read-alouds and discovered I had a knack and passion for bringing a love of reading to my students. I became a school librarian to better serve not only the students of my school, but its faculty, staff, and community. :)

I was an ELAR teacher for IDEA Eastside for one year and empowered ninth grade students at the Ninth Grade Center for 6 years. Recently, I served as an ESL teacher at the New Braunfels High School for one year and I will now return to my NGC family as an ELAR Teacher! Yaay! I am very excMy Why for teaching is very simple. I have a passion for educating students. I believe that every student is capable of learning when their school environment is safe. I believe in positively challenging our students and allowing them to reach their pinnacle of achievement. The key is for every professional to treat each student with dignity and respect. I love the outdoors, animals, reading, cooking, and anything on television that can enlighten or entertain me. I come from a family of educators, and at a young age, I would insist that my siblings attend classes at “my school” where I was always the teacher. MY WHY:I love reading, writing, learning, and interacting with teenagers.

Blended family with 4 kids ages 20-27. Favorite things to do: river (tubing, kayaking, or just hanging out), playing with my 3 sweet pups, watching football, basketball and baseball (preferably live) - favorite teams are the Bobcats and the Unicorns, dining out and finding new restaurants or stores to explore in NB and surrounding areas, hanging out with the hubs and our grown kids, watching hilarious shows on TV (Friday Night Dinner is our current FAV - find it on Roku TV), conversing with my students on all sorts of topics and of course, READING!! MY WHY:I love watching young people turn into young adults and mentoring them along the way. Every time I get a sweet note or even a kind email from a parent I think to myself, “and THIS is why I keep doing this”. Oh, and the summers and holiday breaks can’t be beat!!

ABOUT ME:I have been married for 33 years to my husband, Darryl. I have two sons, Brad and Matt, who are 24 and 29. Matt is married to Payton and is a petroleum engineer. Brad is currently serving in the Air Force and has a girlfriend, Kaitlyn. My family is very important to me, but I also enjoy reading, gardening, and traveling! I can not imagine doing anything other than teaching! MY WHY:I went into teaching because of the teachers that I had in school. Many of those teachers had a great influence on my life. I feel teaching is a calling and I have enjoyed it! I am going into year 30 and believe that without teachers, there are no other professions!

This will be his fifth year of teaching. When he’s not buried in an atlas, he can usually be found on a soccer field or hiking a nearby trail with his wife and son. I lived on the East Coast for 8 years before moving to Central Texas so I could be closer to Schlitterbahn. When I’m not perusing census data or an atlas, I like to trail run, kayak, hunt and fish. MY WHY:I want to have a positive impact on my students and my community.

I love traveling to new places, especially national/state parks and museums. I taught math for 14 years, but recently switched over to geography. MY WHY:I am a huge nerd who loves school. I would go to college full time, if it paid the bills. Sadly it doesn’t, so I get to do the next best thing teach.

My wife is a geographer I met at Texas State. Our son is an elementary student that also enjoys travel and adventure. MY WHY:I had some great teachers when I was young and felt strongly about doing my best to pay that forward. Teaching gives me the opportunity to keep learning as a part of my job.

MEET OUR NGC TEAM ! WHAT I TEACH:Currently - Algebra I and Algebra I EOC. ERIN SHEPHARD Previously - AP Statistics, Statistics, OnRamps Statistics, Algebra II, Geometry, SAT Prep, Math Models, Algebra, 8th grade math, 7th grade math, 6th grade math, and Middle School STAAR remediation. YEARS TAUGHT:20 WHERE I ATTENDED SCHOOL:A&M Galveston and Corpus Christi Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Math and Science ABOUT ME:Married with 3 children, all of whom go to school in NBISD and play soccer. Husband also teaches math and coaches girls soccer at NBHS. We both played soccer from a young age through college. Love to travel, go to the river, and Schlitterbahn when I am not at soccer games. I love to do puzzles, put together Lego figures, and play games with my family. I will be taking a group of students, and some of their family members, to Europe at the beginning of Summer 2023 to help me work through my bucket list of places to go see. MY WHY:In middle school and high school I had teachers who didn’t seem to like teaching and were not very good at it. Through high school I had to teach myself math because my teacher could not answer the “why” questions on how to get from one step in math to another. I saw my friends struggle and came up with ways to remember how to solve math problems that would be easy for them to understand. Vowed that I would take that concept and become the teacher I never had but always wanted to future students. I wanted to become a teacher that kids were excited to go to and leave at the end of the year not dreading to go to math class any more.

We are a his, mine and ours Brady Bunch family who love gaming and playing together. Laughter and happiness are my favorite things. I live in the Cupcakes and Rainbows bubble: I surround myself with positivity and covet the idea that everyone loves me and I love everyone; we all do what we can to help each other, no action is intentionally hurtful. When that is the lens by which I live, it is easy to be happy and laugh all day long. MY WHY:Helping students grow as young adults, preparing them for success as true adults.

I am married to my amazing husband, Joey. We have two children, Jordan & Joseph & one dog, Junior. MY WHY:I teach for three reasons - June, July & August. Just kidding, I love to be with young adults. I want to be a positive light in a world full of darkness.

We chose to retire in New Braunfels as I grew up in Texas and always felt like coming home when we visited family. I am an avid sports fan and will talk sports all day long!! MY WHY:I love watching kids grow and learn. I have fun with teenagers and believe I have something to offer them.

WHAT I TEACH:Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, AP Statistics, German I-IV YEARS TAUGHT:12 Debra Pickett WHERE I ATTENDED SCHOOL:Texas Tech University BA in Mathematics and German; University of North Texas Secondary Teaching Certificate ABOUT ME:I am married and my husband is the German teacher at Canyon HS. I have 3 children: Joseph is a junior at Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music, Katherine is a junior at NBHS, and Thomas is a freshman at the NGC. I enjoy spending time with family, reading, baking, and watching movies. I am a cancer survivor (Non Hodgkins Lymphoma 2021), who had a relapse in the spring of 2022 for which I am undergoing CAR-T immunotherapy. MY WHY:I teach because it is something I feel I was meant to do. I love interacting with students and helping them make new connections. I want to share my passion for math with them and inspire them to achieve more than they imagined possible.

WHAT I TEACH:Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Melanie Hastings Pre-Calculus YEARS TAUGHT:10 WHERE I ATTENDED SCHOOL:Texas Tech University and Wayland Baptist: Bachelors in Mathematics Minor in Dance. Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with Principal certification. ABOUT ME:I am originally from this area, however, when I moved to Lubbock for college I ended up staying there for about 12 years. After a job offer relocated my husband, son, and I to San Antonio we decided to put down roots in beautiful New Braunfels. This will be my 5th year with New Braunfels ISD and my 10th year teaching. I am also the assistance dance director for NBHS Dance program and have enjoyed being apart of this community. MY WHY:I teach because I love working with students and challenging them to give their best. I love showing students that they can be successful in math with hard work and determination. I teach to help students become better learners. Education gives lends opportunities and that is the belief I want to instill in my students.

I also have a niece and nephew who I love to hang out with I love history, reading, singing in the church choir, painting (new hobby), the Atlanta Braves, Cajun food and LSU! MY WHY:I’ve always had a heart for school age students and wanted to be a positive influence in their lives. I like to help students reach their highest potential.
