Government of India Bureau of Energy Efficiency Ministry of Power Ministry of Power, Govt. of India Major Energy Conservation Measures Regenerative Braking in Trains, around 40-45% of regenerative braking energy can be recovered from brakes. Increase in HVAC saloon temperature by 1-2˚C: Initially, HVAC saloon temperature was 25˚C which was later increased to 26-27˚C in all the trains. Piloting trains was taking approx. 2.5 hours which has been now reduced to half hour by converting the piloting trains into partial revenue trains in the morning hours. HVAC energy consumption saving during Train Cleaning. The temperature settings of all rooms at stations have been changed to 27-28˚C from 25˚C. Energy Savings from Regenerative Braking of Lift: One of the latest technologies adopted in lifts, is regenerative function which recovers braking energy from lift operation by Variable Voltage Variable Frequency (VVVF) technology. Energy Saving from Crawling and sleep mode of escalator. Optimization of operational hours of water cooled chillers in underground stations. Installation of energy meters at each system circuit so that energy can be monitored precisely. 83
