Anne Germain This month we are pleased to bring you the next reading from Ann for July 2021. Each month she will be bringing us some insight through the use of Global Oracle Intuitive Card Selection. Hello Readers, This month I am doing a reading covering July 2021, again this month I will be using Doreen Virtue Magical Mermaids and Dolphins Oracle Cards. A beautiful calm set of cards which can help you gain an insight into situations around you. This month’s 3 cards are: - ‘Accept Heaven’s Help’ ‘Time to Move On’ ‘Simplify Your Life’ Accept Heaven’s Help You have had a lot of stress and pressure on your shoulders over the last few years (not only including the Pandemic) during this time whether you realise it or know you have been asking spirit/heaven for help with the situations that are going on around you on earth. Even though you don’t see them or feel them around you they have been listening to you and are working in the background. Now let them get on with sorting stuff out for you and moving mountains if necessary. 26

Time to Move On Life does not stay still and the negativity which is behind you and maybe also the last edges of it around your feet. It is, as the card shows, as if you are walking out from the stormy black seas into the sunlight. Until you let go of that old stuff that drags you down, you will not see that sunshine and golden sands on the beach, when you have done that and look behind you the seas will have calmed and taken on its true crystal clear blue calm. Simplify Your Life Sounds simple doesn’t it, simplify your life and declutter. We are humans and by nature we gather things around us that bring memories, happiness and comfort. But our surroundings are not the only thing that gets cluttered, our minds and thoughts become cluttered, and as the saying goes, we don’t see the wood for the trees. The way we sort out the house is equally important to how we sort out memories. Many, obviously, are good and we want to cherish them, but others are negative and we tend to bury those deep within our minds.

These are the ones that we need to pull forward, look at in more detail and take the lesson from the experience. And then cast the remaining memory and pain into the bin, allowing it to return to the situation that caused our original pain. For some it may mean going and taking themselves into a situation where they can talk the event through and see what the good, bad and ugly of it is; for others it maybe just sitting quietly and evaluating it privately, maybe even writing things down and then destroying the paper. Whichever way is best for you, do it. That way you don’t have to take it forward to your future self and forgive yourself for anything that happened because of other people. I hope you all enjoy the reading and for more information about the services of private sessions, spiritual development, meditation classes and workshops, clinical hypnotherapy or reiki healing or development; please feel free to pop along to my website or send me a direct email to [email protected] http://annegermain.co.uk 28

Container Gardening By Roald Goorman Growing plants in pots? I must admit that I am no particular fan of container gardening, but having lived for 9 years in a three story high apartment with only a small balcony made me appreciate the joys of it, especially if you are a plant nut like me! In my profession as landscaper and gardener I actually do not recommend potted plants nor incorporate them in my designs. Why? Because potted plants are a nightmare for people that want a low maintenance garden. And trust me, most put the accent on “low- maintenance”, precisely what potted plants are not. In quite a few gardens I maintain, people have potted plants of all sorts, but often they are sorry looking ghosts of their former self. A fact is that potted plants are more than ever dependent on your care, since they are limited to a small space to obtain nutrients and water. Plants put in the ground can, after establishment, pretty much look after themselves, as they send the roots deep and far in the ground in search of nutrients and water. Containerised plants do not have that possibility in their confined spaces, except when you place a pot in the garden without a water collecting saucer below, after a couple of years you’ll find out why that plant was doing so well without feeding and watering. The plant sends the roots through the drainage hole into the soil below, he has escaped! But for those that are determined to grow plants in pots, because you do not have garden space to grow them in or to make use of that ugly terracotta pot aunt Betsy gave you with Christmas, or simply because you like the look of pots and potted plants, be prepared for a lot of cuddling! 1. 1 First prepare a good potting medium, an organic mix consists 32

of potting soil with perlite and compost (ratio 2-1-1). Or inorganic mixes of clay granules and perlite/ vermiculite mixes (hydroponics) 2. Ensure to place the pots at the right spot, what that right spot is depends on the plant you choose to pot up. If you know the spot already then you will have to limit the plant selection to those that can withstand the conditions of the location. (Sunny, Shady, Windy, Cold, Hot, Wet?) To give you an idea, Southern and Western exposures would need heat & sun tolerant plants, and if you cannot tend them daily, they would also need to be drought tolerant (eg. succulents, cacti). Northern exposures or shady locations under trees or between tall buildings need shade loving plants, (eg. ferns, clivias, Swiss Cheese plants, fatsia japonica) 3. Water the pots appropiately! When I say appropiately , it does not necessarily mean , watering a lot, this really depends on the particular plants’ needs, the location of the pot, the pot size and the time of the year. Although it is difficult to give a general guideline, a rule of thumb could be to water once the pot medium is dry (the upper 5 cm) or once the 33

collecting saucer below is dry. In summer this could easily mean watering daily and in winter only once a week. An automatic irrigation system might come in handy but here you would need to fine tune the frequency and duration, as it is easy to under or over water the plants! Also…do not water on top of plants but always at their base! 4. Fertilise plants properly. Fertiliser needs differ per plants, but for sure all plants need food, which they generally do not find in the regular potting soils nor in the water you give them. Standard potting soils as you can buy them in the garden centers often have some fertilisers mixed in, but they are short lived, maximum 4 weeks, and will need to be replenished quickly. Fertilisers are composed of different nutrients, of which Nitrogen, Potassium and Phosphorus are the most needed in quantity, further there are the micronutrients, equally as important for the plant’s well being but required in much lower quantities, (eg. Zinc, Copper,Manganese, Iron and Magnesium). Most common are the liquid fertilisers, of which you mix a teaspoon/tablespoon with the water you give them. However it is easy to under- or over fertilise, the latter with disastrous results (desiccation of plant due to excess salts from fertiliser). Easier are the granular fertilisers, especially the slow release ones, generally much more expensive, but it pays back quickly in time saved on fertilising chores and in plant health. Slow release fertilisers have to be inserted in the soil but generally last up to 3-4 months before it needs to be replenished again. 5. Most potting media after a while lose the characteristics that made them a good potting medium in the first place, potting soil decomposes and compacts. Due to the 34

generally alkaline water we give them, the soil goes from slighly acidic to alkaline, which makes nutrient uptake by plants more difficult. As a result overal health of a plant will also decline, in spite of all good care given. So change the soil yearly in the case of smaller pots and every 2 years in the case of big pots. When plants are really big and do look happy even after a couple of years in the same pot, then you could leave it until the plant grows too big for the pot, this is the case with very resilient plants that tolerate “abuse” like Yuccas and several types of succulents and cacti. When repotting, remember to take away as much of the old soil between the plant roots as possible.
