SPDT 4 LIFE’S ADVANCED TREATMENT OPTIONSSPDT 4 LIFE is revolutionising the way cancer is being treated.Responding to the demand from the global cancer community - for something other than the decades old, much maligned, traditional treatments of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation - our team is working with world-leading experts, to provide anunparalleled range of therapies. This game changing approach, combined with best practice traditional treatments, will provide afar greater variety of options for our patients, who have in many cases been told they have none. Our team is hard at work with our partners, finalising the plans for some of these holistic treatment options and hope to be able tobring these to our patients later this year – 2017. These options are clearly labelled ‘COMING SOON’ in the following pages. In the mean time, we continue to provide our already extensive range of cutting-edge, best-practice methods, that have provento be extremely beneficial to our patients. Our revolutionary approach starts with a strong focus on providing a highly personalised treatment protocol for each uniquepatient. No two patients are ever the same, so no two treatment protocols should ever be the same. To establish what is best foreach individual patient, our team use a comprehensive range of genetic tests. This extensive array of tests includes, blood, gut-microbiome, saliva, and hair/heavy metal tests, plus biopsies. As well as, advancedimaging tests, such as MRI, CT & PET scans. Using the latest technology, doctors are able to gain a detailed understanding of eachpatient’s unique cancer characteristics, as well as their overall state of health. This then forms the foundation on which an effectivepersonalised treatment protocol is built. One valuable tool used by our doctors is the cutting-edge, genetic cancer test, known as ‘the RGCC test’. From this our doctorsare able to assess each individual patient’s unique cancer cell’s sensitivity to hundreds of different treatments and therapies, toestablish what their cancer is most responsive to. From these invaluable results doctors are able to tailor a comprehensivetreatment protocol for each patient that removes the ‘guess-work’ component common in many other treatment plans. Moreimportantly this process eliminates the unnecessary pain, suffering, wasted time and money for patients and their families thatoften occurs, when ineffective treatments - such as chemotherapy - are erroneously administered.Cancer does not occur in isolation - all functions of the body are connected - so a patient’s cancer is not the only focus of ourtesting and treatment. To treat cancer alone and neglect the patient’s underlying health issues, does a disservice to the patientand reduces their treatment’s chance of long term success. That is why it is so important that our testing includes methods ofidentifying other underlying health issues that may have contributed to, or encouraged cancer growth.Areas we test for include factors that are effected by diet, gut health, exercise, stress levels, sleep, exposure to toxins, criticalvitamin and mineral levels - such as Vitamin D - and so much more. By identifying and then correcting these other health issues, through our extensive range of therapies, we aim to return the patient to optimal health, with an emphasis on building a strongimmune system that can focus on fighting cancer. Our advanced treatment options are listed in the following pages, starting with our flagship treatment and Dr Wang’s area ofexpertise – SPDT. 18

SONO-PHOTO DYNAMIC THERAPY (SPDT)Sono-Photo Dynamic Therapy (SPDT) is a non-toxic, full-body cancer treatment, based on the laws of nature, thatsystematically targets and eliminates tumours and cancer cells, whilst leaving healthy cells unharmed. It is just the type of painless, safe, evidence-based, alternative therapy that cancer patients the world over have beencrying out for. Since 2008 - using this revolutionary treatment as the fundamental basis for his individually tailoredtreatment protocols - Dr Wang has been able to extend the lives of many patients who have been given no hopeelsewhere. In summary, the treatment essentially requires patients be administered our proprietary chlorophyll-based photosensitiser, then lie in a ‘light bed’ for 30 minutes and then lie in an ‘ultrasound bath’ for 40 minutes. The only side effect reported bypatients, is that it can make some feel a little lethargic.Photo Dynamic TherapyThe use of light waves to activate photosynthetic agents to heal the body, dates back to the ancient Egyptians, with firstreports of its successful use to treat solid tumours, documented in the German medical annals in the early 1900s. Sincethen, hundreds of studies have confirmed its efficacy with US FDA approval granted to PDT in 1976 for the localisedtreatment of several stages of oesophageal and lung cancers. Our advanced approach to Photo Dynamic Therapy utilises a proprietary chlorophyll-based photosensitiser to preparethe body's cancer cells for systemic elimination using a light-wave bed. Once activated, the photosensitiser transformsinto singlet oxygen, which orchestrates programmed cell death and kills the anaerobic cancer cells without damagingnormal tissue. The extremely high affinity of our advanced photosensitisers for cancer cells compared to normal cells (typically 30-40 to1), allows for the safe treatment of the entire body, including undetected micro-metastases.Sono Dynamic TherapySono Dynamic Therapy is an emerging treatment technology developed by Dr Wang’s team and has been actively usedin patient treatments since 2008. The technique transmits ultrasound waves through a specially designed bath to activateour proprietary photosensitiser. Compared to the light waves of PDT, the sound waves of SDT can penetrate the body farmore effectively to attack deeper tumours. Cell line, animal testing and clinical practice with hundreds of patients havedocumented that like PDT, SDT has a superb safety profile and does minimal damage to normal cells.Dr Wang is the inventor of the specially designed ultrasound bath and SPDT 4 LIFE has exclusive rights to this ground-breaking superior equipment. No other facility anywhere in the world has this technology, which allows for effective andefficient whole-body treatment. Dr Wang is the world’s leading authority on SPDT and the combination of his expertiseand the best SPDT equipment available anywhere, ensures that we are the leader in the field of SPDT and second tonone. The combined SPDT approach can be effectively used to combat most types and all stages of cancer, but it has provento be of particular benefit to late stage cancer patients for whom there exist few effective treatment options. SPDT workssynergistically with other advanced cancer treatment modalities - enhancing their efficacy exponentially - including:(low dose) chemotherapy, Site-Specific Chemotherapy, Radio Seed Implantation, Radio Frequency Ablation, HIFU,immunotherapy, natural therapies and Traditional Chinese Medicine. 20

DE-BULKING THERAPIES Chemotherapy, Radiation, Surgery SPDT 4 LIFE provides all the traditional forms of cancer treatment that other cancer hospitals offer - plus more. Through our comprehensive testing, doctors can establish from hundreds of options, what the best form of treatment is for each individual patient. If the results show that a certain patient’s cancer is most sensitive to a form of chemotherapy, then our doctors will use it. What is best for the patient is paramount at all times. But they will do so with an extra level of care. Chemotherapy treatments are usually low-dose and used in conjunction with medications that will protect the patient’s vital organs and minimise the side effects. Chemotherapy will also be done in conjunction with SPDT to enhance the efficacy of the drug and improve the patient outcomes. The same is true for radiation, if it is found that radiation is what is best for the patient’s unique condition then doctors will prescribe the treatment. Patients at SPDT 4 LIFE have VIP access to world class radiation equipment and practitioners. Debulking surgery reduces the cancer load in patients so as to enhance the effectiveness of subsequent therapy with drugs, radiation and other adjunctive measures and to ultimately improve the patient’s length of survival. Debulking can also be used to relieve symptoms and pain in suitable patients. The team at SPDT 4 LIFE boasts a number of highly experienced surgeons. We also have the full support of the Golden Sand Bay’s high calibre specialist medical teams if patients require more specialised attention. Site-Specific Chemotherapy A non-invasive form of treatment, Site-Specific Chemotherapy, can be administered through any opening in the body from where the cancerous area can be easily reached. A micro-catheter is inserted under guided imagery to deliver chemotherapy directly to the tumour through an upstream artery. This allows higher doses of drugs, with prolonged tumour contact time, which minimises toxicity to other parts of the body. The side-effects, recovery time and impact of the procedure on the patient are also minimised. Radio Frequency Ablation Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) is a treatment that uses Ultrasound and CT-guided imagery to place a needle electrode through the skin into a tumour. High-frequency electrical currents are passed through the electrode, creating heat that destroys the cancer cells. RFA is an effective treatment option for patients who might have difficulty with surgery, or those whose tumours are less than one and a half inches in diameter. The success rate for completely eliminating small liver tumours is greater than 85 percent. Fewer complications and faster recovery times are also benefits of RFA. Radio Seed Implantation Radioactive seeds are injected into the tumour using a needle and CT-guided imagery. This process is also known as ‘Brachytherapy’, ’Internal Gamma Knife’ or ‘Nuclear Particle Knife’. The seeds release radioactive particles to attack and kill cancer cells in a reasonably simple and effective technique, that causes little damage to surrounding tissue. The radioactive material decays slowly, avoiding indefinite exposure to radiation. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) HIFU - also known as ‘lesion excision without surgery’ - is a minimally invasive form of treatment that focuses high-intensity ultrasound precisely on a tumour, to heat and destroy cancer cells. When the tissues absorb the acoustic energy, their temperature is raised significantly - to approximately 90 degrees Celsius - within 2 to 3 seconds. This rapid increase in heat leaves the targeted tissues destroyed, whilst the cells lying around the focal-zone remain completely unharmed. HIFU is highly effective in the treatment of prostate cancer but can also be used effectively for cancers of the bone, breast, liver, pancreas, rectum and kidneys.21

Hyperthermia Hyperthermia (also called thermal therapy or thermotherapy) is a type of cancer treatment in which body tissue is exposed to high temperatures (usually up to 45°C). Research has shown that high temperatures can damage and kill cancer cells, with minimal injury to normal tissues. By killing cancer cells and damaging proteins and structures within cells, hyperthermia can shrink tumours. For patients with medium or advanced cancer, clinicians have found the use of whole body hyperthermia is very effective when combined with other forms of treatment such as surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The synergistic effects of SPDT further enhances the efficacy of hyperthermia and these therapies. Practice has shown that administering hyperthermia before surgery can shrink the surgical area and potentially reduce the complexity of the operation. Administering hyperthermia after surgery can not only prevent the metastatic spread of cancer cells, but also promote enhanced surgical wound healing. Hypoxic cells and S-phase cells present in tumours can be resistant to radiation, however they are very sensitive to heat. Combining hyperthermia with radiotherapy treatment will significantly improve its efficacy. As heat damages the stability of a cells membrane, it simultaneously increases the permeability of the membrane, rendering the cell more susceptible to chemical penetration and the absorption of drugs. As the temperature increases, not only does the drug’s rate of absorption and reaction increase, but it also impacts the cell’s ability to repair DNA fractures in the nucleus. SPDT 4 LIFE uses the latest technology in whole body hyperthermia - the WB-1.23

HOLISTIC THERAPIES COMING SOON Recent studies claim that up to 90% of all cancers are now lifestyle induced. Smoking, drinking alcohol, being obese, a sedentary lifestyle, stress, lack of quality sleep, too much sun exposure, exposure to toxins, are all factors that experts agree can cause and enhance cancer. For cancer patients it is most important that they eliminate any cancer-enhancing practices and replace them with cancer-fighting ones. Our goal is to not only teach our patients how to best do this and beat cancer, but to also help them achieve optimal health. This is the basis for our holistic therapies program - EDUCATE, ELIMINATE, REJUVENATE. At SPDT 4 LIFE we EDUCATE the patients about what they shouldn't do (ELIMINATE) and just as importantly what they should do (REJUVENATE) to best help them fight cancer. We do this in two main ways - 1. Holistic Health Programs - established in conjunction with world leading experts in their fields our programs cover such areas as diet, gut health, exercise therapy, mindfulness, sleep therapy, supplementation & elimination. 2. Manual - each patient is issued a manual that they are required to read during their stay. We instruct patients to take the manual home and to refer back to it regularly - to help keep them on track to maintaining optimal health. We believe ongoing care is such an important factor for our patient’s health that we have created our own support team (PAN - Patient Advocate Network) that will monitor and assist patients when they leave our hospital, to ensure that they are adhering to the cancer-fighting lifestyle and doing all they can to return to optimal health. PAN and these new programs combined with our already extensive range of evidence–based traditional and alternative treatment options, will ensure that SPDT 4 LIFE is providing a revolutionary service that many patients the world over are crying out for. We are proud to be able to bring this world-leading strategy in non-toxic, holistic cancer care to the many patients that need it and in doing so help them to live, long, happy, healthy and fulfilled lives.25

EXERCISE THERAPYExercise is good for us - this is an undisputed fact. Lack of exercise has been linked to many an illness - cancer included.Obesity and a sedentary lifestyle are acknowledged as contributing risk factors by cancer experts everywhere. Yet still so manypeople do not do enough exercise and very few cancer treatment centres incorporate it as part of their treatment. We areproudly leading the way in this area. One man who knows better than most, the great benefits of exercise for cancer patients, is Professor Robert Newton, theFoundation Professor of Exercise and Sports Science and Co-Director of the Exercise Medicine Research Institute at EdithCowan University in Perth, Western Australia. Professor Newton’s research focus is exercise for the management of cancer andtreatment side-effects, with particular emphasis on identifying and understanding the biological mechanisms by whichexercise medicine suppresses tumour progression. Professor Newton has been studying exercise and its effects on cancer formore than 15 years and his findings are groundbreaking and exciting. He has found that - amongst other things - exercisestrengthens the immune system and helps the body fight cancer.Certain types of exercise is better for certain types of cancer, so a tailored approach is required. The positive effects of exerciseextends beyond cancer and also improves the overall health of patients, including cardiovascular health, strength, bone-density, mood and so much more - and there are no negative side effects.SPDT 4 LIFE has engaged the services of Professor Newton to set up our Exercise Therapy Program and he will be an on-goingconsultant for us and our clients moving forward.Throughout the international medical allied health communities, Australia is recognised as having many of the world’s leadingExercise Physiologists. Through our Patient Advocate Network, our patients will have access to oncology trained EPs that canassist them with their program when they are at home. The sooner patients can start the program the better. Professor Newtonrecommends that patients start on a tailored program as soon as they receive a cancer diagnosis. 26

GUT HEALTH - MICROBIOME An extensive amount of research is underway in the area of gut health and the gut microbiome. Scientists are now referring to the gut as ‘the second brain’ and are suggesting that its influence over our general health is enormous. 80% of our immune system is located in the gut and as such, there should be no doubting its significance when it comes to disease. The importance of the gut to human health and cancer in particular, should not be underestimated. Doctors and patients should do so at their own peril. Dysbiosis in the gut has been linked to everything from auto-immune disorders, to depression and even cancer. Research has shown that correcting problems in this vital area can improve and even eliminate many health problems. Developments in microbiome sequencing techniques are leading to personalised therapies for a number of diseases, including cancer. Microorganisms in the gut can be used to empower the immune system to fight cancer, as opposed to traditional therapies that dramatically weaken it. Mapping the microbiome is critical to maintaining good health and it makes sense to first map each person’s microbiome to assess where they are lacking and only then make recommendations on how to correct it. SPDT 4 LIFE is leading the way again in this very important field. We have partnered with Dr Margaret Smith and her team at smartDNA in Melbourne, Australia, to map and study the microbiomes of our patients. Through the ‘smartGUT Microbiome Test’, smartDNA can identify the problems with our patient’s microbiomes and from there our team of experts can prescribe methods to correct the dysbiosis, heal the gut and build the strongest immune system possible. Each individuals microbiome is unique, so a tailored treatment plan is required for each patient. This cutting-edge test is part of the comprehensive testing program we employ when formulating the personalised treatment protocols for patients. Identifying any issues and then correcting them through our range of therapies, is all part of our plan to return the body to optimal health. We educate the patients on what is best to maintain their unique optimal gut microbiome and how to replace cancer-enhancing habits with cancer-fighting ones. This is yet another example of how everything in the body is connected and why doctors should not treat cancer in isolation - a holistic approach is so important. Poor diet, stress and other factors can have a negative effect on our microbiome, so proper diet and relaxation techniques should be a part of any optimal health plan. This is what stands SPDT 4 LIFE apart from most other cancer treatment centres, we understand the importance of a holistic approach and have created a program where none previously existed - revolutionising the way cancer is being treated. A strong immune system is critical to fighting cancer - therefore optimal gut health for cancer patients should be paramount. Tests can also be done in Australia and New Zealand through PAN. A PAN practitioner can monitor results and tailor a program to achieve an optimal microbiome for each individual, ensuring ongoing care in this important area when patients leave our hospital.27

Dr Margaret Smith is a molecular geneticist with over 20 years experience inneurogenetics and cancer genetics.A brilliant scientist, she has worked in major teaching hospitals in both Australia and NewZealand. Margaret has helped develop methods to enable cost-effective breast cancerscreening in diagnostic laboratories in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. In 2009, Margaret became the co-founder of a nutritional genomics company calledsmartDNA. smartDNA has developed assays that have a known nutrient interaction withthe human genome. This testing is provided by registered Health Practitioners for thepurpose of personalised preventative health whereby nutrition, supplementation andlifestyle interventions can have a positive effect. In the last 2 years smartDNA has developed a smartGUT Test to analyse the human gutmicrobiome and a curated human microbiome database to enable accurate detectionof the bacteria present. In 2016 smartDNA established smartLAB in the translational facility located at MonashMHTP in Clayton, Victoria, Australia. This laboratory offers a range of services includingDNA extractions, Genomic Analysis, Clinical Trials, Bioinformatics, Research andDevelopment and Product validation.Margaret recently published with Harlequin an easy read book entitled ‘Gene Genius’which covers nutritional genomics and other aspects of the human genome inrelation to environment and lifestyle for preventative health.   28

ORGANIC PALEO/KETOGENIC DIET Hippocrates said it best over 2000 years ago - ‘Let food by thy medicine and medicine be thy food.’ An unhealthy diet is universally accepted as a cause of cancer. Everyone has to eat, so it should be obvious that if you have cancer, what you are putting in your body must be cancer-fighting, not cancer-enhancing. The World Cancer Research Fund has estimated that between one-fifth and one-fourth of cancers worldwide are related to overweight or obesity, physical inactivity, and/or poor nutrition, and thus could also be prevented. So clearly what we are eating is a major problem. Why then do so few cancer wards do anything about this? Most hospitals in the western world provide what might best be described as atrocious food. Tasteless and devoid of all nutrition. Finding a hospital that provides highly nutritious, cancer-fighting food, or an oncologist who provides a clear, comprehensive nutrition plan for patients to follow when fighting cancer is extremely rare. Again this is where SPDT 4 LIFE is leading the way and revolutionising the way cancer is being treated. We are working with leading experts in the field of nutrition, diet and ‘the science of food relating to cancer’, to establish the best cancer-fighting diet for our patients. Through our program we will test our patients to find out what foods they are sensitive to and may cause inflammation and thus should be avoided. Chronic inflammation causes cancer and certain foods are inflammatory. Everyone is different, but there are also common foods that humans don’t tolerate well. So we test each patient and tailor a unique dietary program that best suits them as an individual and educate them on what foods they should eat and what foods to avoid - teaching them to replace cancer-causing foods with cancer-fighting foods. Our manual is a resource they can refer back to if they ever need a reminder when they return home. In addition to educating our patients we also provide a fully catered organic paleo/ketogenic meal service for them whilst they are at SPDT 4 LIFE. Patients can choose from our chef prepared menu for all their meals, snacks and beverages whilst in the hospital. Specific dietary requirements identified by our testing are catered for. We use organic food, as many pesticides and toxins sprayed on food have been found to contribute to cancer. Glyphosate - a broad spectrum herbicide found in Round Up - the world’s best selling herbicide and weed killer - has been banned in many European countries and has been listed as a ‘probable carcinogen’ (the 2nd highest warning rating) by the World Health Organisation. A law is set to be passed in California later in 2017, requiring all products containing glyphosate to have a warning label stating that the product contains a probable carcinogen. Hopefully the rest of the world will soon follow. In this day and age when cancer is the second leading cause of death globally - where 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women are being diagnosed with cancer - we must ask why is this disease so prevalent? One possible answer is the huge amount of chemicals and toxins we are exposed to in almost every aspect of our lives - food being one of them. Surely it makes no sense to spray the food that is supposed to nourish and sustain us with toxic chemicals? It is obviously a very bad idea. At SPDT 4 LIFE we recommend and use only organic food for our cancer patients.29

There are many foods that most experts agree are bad for us and should be avoided, such as sugary foods, alcohol, processed foods, deep fried foods and those full of bad unhealthy fats etc, but there is still debate surrounding what arethe best foods for a truly healthy diet.We have looked to the experts to establish what is best for our VIP patients.A great deal of evidence suggests that an organic paleo or ketogenic diet is best for cancer patients.Dr Richard Feinman & Dr Eugene Fine form the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, are currentlyconducting an experiment on the ketogenic diet and its effect on cancer. Preliminary findings and other supportingevidence, such as the Warburg effect, suggest that ketones inhibit cancer growth. Reducing carbohydrates in the dietand limiting them as a fuel source starves the cancer cells of energy causing them to die. Normal, healthy cells can useketones as an alternative energy source and are therefore not inhibited.Nutritional Therapist Patricia Daly’s work on ketogenic diet and cancer is also full of supporting evidence for thisapproach. The paleo diet is not as extreme as a ketogenic one, but it does cut out inflammatory foods and promotes a very healthy, organic, whole-foods, common-sense approach to eating. With our goal to be able to educate and provide our patients with highly nutritious cancer-fighting foods ourcombination of organic paleo and ketogenic meals is a sensible and balanced strategy.Back in Australia we also aim to be able to provide a service through PAN, where patients can order their organic paleo/ketogenic meals from us and have them prepared and home delivered.Eating an organic paleo/ketogenic diet requires everything to be fresh and prepared from scratch - no processed foodsare allowed. We understand that this takes time and energy - which is something that cancer patients may not have alot of - as they can be tired and busy from treatments and appointments etc.We aim to help make our patients’ lives healthier and easier, by providing them with a service that supplies them withnutritious cancer-fighting meals whilst allowing them to rest and focus on other things. Having these meals prepared andon hand also helps to reduce the chance of patients eating other less-healthy and perhaps cancer-enhancing foods. We cannot stress enough how important it is for cancer patients to eat highly nutritious, cancer-fighting foods, so we areproud to be able to provide this revolutionary service to our patients. We all have to eat - choose wisely.FOOD IS MEDICINE. 30

SUPPLEMENTATIONOptimal health requires all elements within the body to be functioning at their best. In cancer patients there are clearly manythings that have not been working optimally and have compounded to bring on the disease. As we have said before, cancerdoes not occur in isolation, it usually takes many mutations and things to go wrong for the disease to flourish.Through our comprehensive testing regime, our team can identify where there may be deficiencies in the systems that couldbe contributing to cancer growth and can be corrected via our range of therapies. Such issues as vitamin or mineraldeficiencies can cause health problems - vitamin D is a perfect example of this. Low levels of vitamin D has been found to beassociated with tumour progression and metastasis in some forms of cancer. Our doctors will analyse each individuals test results, identify any deficiencies that may be corrected with supplementation andwill then prescribe the necessary products to help return them to optimal health. Supplements may take the form of herbs (likein Traditional Chinese Medicines), intravenous medicines or injections (such as a vitamin B-12 shots), or the more commontablets and capsules. 32

MINDFULNESS Mindfulness is a hot topic in Western psychology - increasingly recognised as an effective way to increase fulfilment, reduce stress, raise self-awareness, enhance emotional intelligence and undermine destructive emotive, cognitive and behavioural processes. While many people think mindfulness means meditation, this is not the case. Mindfulness is a mental state of openness, awareness and focus and meditation is just one method amongst hundreds of learning to cultivate this state. At SPDT 4 LIFE we use the term mindfulness to refer to our relaxation and stress relieving activities such as yoga, qi gong, meditation and colouring. As well as any other activity that helps our patients relax and makes them happy - whether that be laughing and chatting with friends, going for a calming walk, doing a crossword, listening to music or reading a book. Stress is a major contributing factor for cancer. The neurotoxins and hormones such as cortisol released during times of stress can wreak havoc on the body. It directly effects the gut microbiome and has many negative flow on effects. As with all of our holistic therapies at SPDT 4 LFE, we focus on replacing cancer-enhancing habits, with cancer-fighting ones and stress is no different. We educate patients on the dangers of stress and the consequences it has on their health and teach them ways to eliminate it. We focus on mental, emotional and spiritual health and teaching people to find their joy. Laughing and being happy encourages healthy hormones to be released and promotes a positive outlook. This is very important for cancer patients undergoing treatment. At SPDT 4 LIFE a positive attitude and all that entails is much preferred to a negative attitude. Counselling is prescribed for all patients at the beginning of treatment, to educate them on the importance of eliminating stress, to teach them tools to help them relax and to help them identify ways to find their joy. For some ‘their joy’ might be going fishing, joining a book club, going to a movie or playing with a pet. Everyone is different and will prefer different combination of things. Ongoing counselling is also available for patients who feel they need it on a regular basis. Research shows that those of us that have meaningful relationships with other people (or animals), can live happier, healthier and longer lives. That being the case, we will always encourage our patients to have these interactions where possible and offer assistance to those who may need help in this area, if that is something that is missing. At SPDT 4 LIFE, yoga, qi gong, meditation and other classes are held regularly and relaxation time is allocated as part of each patient’s tailored protocol for other mindfulness activities of their choosing. Massage and acupuncture are also available as part of our mindfulness therapy. Yet another way that our team is leading the way in holistic cancer therapies.33

NATURAL THERAPIES Natural therapies - such as curcumin, cannabis and high-dose vitamin C - have all been found to have strong anti-cancer properties. The RGCC test will test each patient’s cancer sensitivity to these and many other natural therapies, that have been found to have cancer-fighting benefits. Doctors will then prescribe those therapies the results showed the patient’s cancer is most sensitive to. Natural therapies are safe to use in conjunction with SPDT and the combination has been found to have a synergistic effect that is of great benefit to patients. SLEEP THERAPY Sleep is a very important component of optimal health. Our bodies require a certain amount of quality sleep each night in order to replenish and to function optimally. Serious sleep deprivation can have profound consequences on our health - including disrupting the immune system. As a general rule it is recommended that most people should get 8 hours sleep a night, but some need more and others less. We aim to find out what is best for each patient, educate them on ways to achieve an ultimate nights sleep and help those who are having sleeping issues overcome them. It is important that all of our patients have a strong immune system and if not sleeping is going to effect that, then we need to be able to correct that problem if we are to return our patients to optimal health. ELIMINATE AND AVOID TOXINS More people than ever are developing cancer - there has to be a reason for that. The World Health Organisation and other leading health agencies all agree, that the majority of cancers these days are lifestyle induced or due to environmental factors - and we are not just talking cigarettes and alcohol. To prevent or fight cancer, it makes perfect sense to eliminate all the cancer-inducing lifestyle and environmental factors possible. There are now more chemicals and toxins in our water, food, skin care & hair products, cleaning products, even in the air we breath and the environment we live in – than at any other time in our history. We have already addressed eliminating cancer-enhancing inflammatory or toxic foods from the diet and replacing them with organic cancer-fighting foods - the same needs to be done with all the other toxic substances in our environment. With so many chemicals and carcinogens everywhere, it can be quite hard work to identify, eliminate and replace them all - but it can and should be done. These toxins can build up in the body and be extremely harmful - causing or enhancing cancer. We recommend that those with cancer should aim to replace all toxic items as soon as possible. When fighting to beat cancer no risks can afford to be taken, it just makes sense to eliminate anything and everything that could feed the disease. We encourage patients to seek out natural and organic products at every opportunity. There is no good reason to put chemicals in - or on your body - when there are such wonderful natural organic alternatives available. At SPDT 4 LIFE we have dedicated a chapter in our manual to this very important subject. We teach our patients about known carcinogens, what things to avoid and suggest safer options to replace them with. We have also set a goal to eliminate as many chemicals and toxins as possible from our floor at Golden Sand Bay Hospital - which is quite a challenge for a hospital - however we are committed to achieving this goal. Our first step is to provide organic soaps, hair and beauty products for our patients and the rest will follow soon after.35

FAMILY SUPPORT CANCER TESTING FOR FAMILY MEMBERS Whilst recent studies show that the majority of cancers are lifestyle induced, there are still those that have a genetic predisposition and can be passed down to family members. It is therefore advised that family members of cancer patients be tested to see if they have inherited these cancer genes. Our team at PAN and SPDT 4 LIFE can organise testing for anyone who wants it. Advances in science have lead to tests that can now detect cancer in the very early stages. Early detection is key - the sooner the cancer is detected, the better the chances are of beating it. Genetic cancers should not be the only reason family members consider being tested. Many families tend to share common lifestyle factors. Living in the same house in particular, usually means family members share a similar diet and other habits. If that is the case, there is the possibility that if one family member has developed cancer through poor lifestyle habits, then other family members who have a similar lifestyle could also develop cancer. Age is also a contributing factor. As we age our immune system breaks down making us even more susceptible to cancer, however older family are not the only ones who should be tested. Whilst younger unhealthy people may not show any signs of cancer, they may still have cancerous cells growing in their body. Early detection is key - cancer does not discriminate. (Testing is recommended for persons 15 years and over.) If cancerous cells are detected in a family member, our caring and compassionate team will be able to advise the family on treatment options and assist with anything else they may require. EDUCATION - MANUAL Each patient that comes to SPDT 4 LIFE is given a manual that educates them on what things they should not be doing and what things they should be doing to have the best chance to beat cancer. We stress the point that as most cancers are lifestyle induced - the best way to prevent and fight cancer is to replace cancer-inducing habits with cancer-fighting habits. While we have our patients with us as a captive audience in the hospital, we give them the knowledge and tools to change their life and to be truly healthy. This manual can be extremely helpful for other family members as well. Firstly, so as they can educate themselves and have a better understanding of what they can do to prevent cancer and secondly, so as they can better support the patient. COUNSELLING A cancer diagnosis - particularly a terminal diagnosis - can be an extremely difficult and emotional time for patients and their loved ones. Counselling has proven to be of great benefit to many families during this time. Listening, giving advice and teaching relaxation techniques or coping strategies, are just some of the ways that our compassionate and experienced counsellors can support patients and their loved ones. This service is available both in China at SPDT 4 LIFE and also in Australia and New Zealand through PAN.37

PATIENT ADVOCATE NETWORK (PAN) Our Patient Advocate Network (PAN) is just another way that SPDT 4 LIFE is revolutionising the way cancer is being treated. In essence, PAN is an international network of allied health professionals that collectively support our patients through all stages of their treatment. This is an area of patient care that is very much needed, but has been neglected until now. SPDT 4 LIFE is proud to take the lead in this very important area and to be able to bring these revolutionary initiatives to our patients. Whilst patients are at SPDT 4 LIFE they have the luxury of having everything provided for them in-house. All the important aspects of their treatment are seamlessly co-ordinated and catered for - but patients cannot live in China, or in a hospital all the time. PAN has been created to help support patients when they return home and to co-ordinate and streamline the aspects of their personalised treatment protocol that they can continue at home. Through our network of doctors, exercise physiologists, dieticians, nutritionists, naturopaths etc, we are able to continually monitor and support patients throughout their on-going care. Our diligent team of support staff will be in regular contact with our patients to check that they are staying on top of their protocol and offer any support and assistance they may need to keep them on track to achieving optimal health. Through PAN, patients will also be able to order the same nutritious organic paleo/ketogenic meals that was part of their treatment at SPDT 4 LIFE in China. Food is medicine and continuing with a cancer-fighting diet is so important for cancer patients. Falling back into old habits and eating unhealthy cancer-causing foods can be so easy to do. Making these healthy meals available for our patients - delivered to their door - we hope will keep them on track and keep them healthy for many years to come - it is such an important part of their on-going treatment. Our PAN support team can also assist patients to find local groups or classes for the mindfulness aspects of their therapy. Whether it be yoga, qi gong, meditation, book club, movie club, walking groups or any other community groups required, the team at PAN are there to help. The majority of PAN will function via the patient login area of our website, but our support team can also be contacted via phone or email. Patients will be given a username and password that will grant them access to a private and secure section of the website, where all the resources and information they require are available - manual included. Their medical history and details of their treatment protocol will all be there under their personalised ID, so that they can refer back to any notes or instructions that their medical or support team have made. Everything is there at the touch of a button and available to patients at anytime they need it. We are also working on developing an app to make access to this information even easier for our VIP patients. With the patient’s consent, all doctors, health professionals and support team members involved in the treatment and ongoing care of a patient, will be able to access the patient’s file in real time. Meaning that communication of information between all parties is optimal. Test results, scans, treatment plans and patient notes can be updated live to the patient’s file, so that all those involved in the patient’s care can be fully aware of the patient’s condition at all times. This is a revolutionary way of caring for patients and it ensures the highest level of care. All those involved in the patient’s care can communicate and make recommendations for any changes to a treatment plan, based on the information provided by other members of the patient’s team. It is particularly helpful for doctors and practitioners treating the patients at home, to have access to all the medical files and information on their treatment whilst they were in China and vice versa. The doctors and team in China are so pleased that they will be able to easily monitor the ongoing treatment and condition of patients when they return home, which will allow them to make informed decisions and recommendations if and when needed. PAN is all about providing the best care possible in order to help our patients maintain optimal health and to live happy, healthy, long and fulfilled lives. We are so proud to be be able support our cherished patients in this unique and ground-breaking way.39

ACCOMMODATION AND FACILITIES SPDT 4 LIFE at Golden Sand Bay, really is unlike any cancer treatment centre you have ever seen, for reasons we have already mentioned and for the wonderful, warm and welcoming environment that is the VIP 12th floor ward. The ward itself comprises a north and south wing and has a total of 36 private rooms. Unlike most other hospitals SPDT 4 LIFE encourages and makes accommodations for companions to accompany patients during their treatment. Family or friends - or even both - are warmly welcomed to SPDT 4 LIFE and collectively referred to as carers. One carer is typical for most patients, but providing there is room, additional family or friends can also be accommodated. The rooms are generous in size and are really more like hotel rooms than a traditional hospital room, so there is plenty of room to share with a carer, if patients chose to bring one - or more. A conscious effort has been made to include as many of the creature comforts of home that a patient might want or need. We are cognisant of the fact that patients and carers will spend a considerable amount of time in these rooms, so we have tried to make them as comfortable as possible. Each standard room has: Queen size beds, (hospital beds are available if required), flat-screen television, refrigerator, desk, table and chairs, cupboards, closet, clock, steriliser, kettle, crockery, cutlery, glasses, mugs, water filter and a private ensuite. Larger suites also have a seperate lounge and dining area. Air-conditioning - All rooms are individually air-conditioned so that patients can tailor the temperature to their liking. Laundry - A laundry room is also provided for those that prefer to do their own laundry. Alternatively we do provide a service for those who would like their items washed and ironed for them. Wi-FI - Free WI-FI is available in all patient rooms and on the 12th floor ward. ATM & Convenience Store - There is an ATM and 7-Eleven on the ground floor of the hospital’s main building. The communal lounge area is the heart and hub of the SPDT 4 LIFE floor. This is where patients, carers and staff can relax and catch up for a chat. There are multiple couches, tables and chairs, a television with a set top box, books, magazines, DVDs and more. The communal lounge is where we hold our famous SPDT 4 LIFE events. Themed dinner nights such as, ‘Roast Night’, or ‘Chinese Night’, Birthday Parties etc are all held here. SPDT 4 LIFE Patient Welfare Program - Dr Wang and his team try to nurture an upbeat, happy environment for all that come to this unique ward. The SPDT 4 LIFE ‘Patient Welfare Program’ was created to foster this ethos and includes taking patients on excursions to places like the zoo, parks, gardens and other local sights. Traditional western holidays such as Easter and Christmas are celebrated each year, as well as Chinese holidays like Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival. All of this is designed to bring patients joy and happiness and bring people together in a fun and positive setting - which can only be good for their health. Patient Feedback Surveys - Never content to rest on our laurels, the team at SPDT 4 LIFE are always interested in ways we can improve our service and do things better for our patients. The interpreters conduct surveys with patients and carers asking for their feedback and suggestions. There is also a ‘Suggestions Box’ that patients can drop notes in. Most importantly though, staff are always available to help or discuss anything at anytime, with patients and carers.41

TRAVEL AGENCY At SPDT 4 LIFE we understand that having cancer is a stressful and difficult time for patients and their families – and that this can be further compounded by having to travel to China for treatment. As such we are always looking at ways we can help to reduce that stress and offer assistance to our patients and their families during these times. In an effort to make the process of travelling to SPDT 4 LIFE as easy as possible, we are proud to announce that we have partnered with one of Australia’s most awarded travel agencies – helloworld Rowville – to guide and assist patients & carers with all their visa, travel and insurance related requirements. The team at helloworld Rowville have had decades of experience in all facets of travel and are extremely friendly, caring and professional. helloworld Rowville is located at Shop 105, 1091 Stud Road, Rowville, Victoria, 3178, Australia. Phone: +61 3 9764 8487. Whilst any of the excellent 11 staff at helloworld Rowville will be able to assist travellers, we have assembled a special team of 3 very experienced travel agents to work with our VIP SPDT 4 LIFE guests. Patients will most likely be dealing with one or more of these ladies during this process.  They are: Rebecca Shady – [email protected] Karen Vella – [email protected] Mandy Gargano – [email protected] The helloworld Rowville team are familiar with the procedures and protocols of SPDT 4 LIFE and what is required when travelling to China. Most importantly they are compassionate and understanding of the circumstances under which our VIP guests are travelling. This can give great comfort and confidence to patients and their families, at a time when they have far more important things to focus on. Being able to hand all of this process off to an experienced and understanding team, so that you have one less thing to worry about, can be a godsend. In addition to making sure that everything our patients need is in place for their trip,  helloworld Rowville can also help with any sightseeing, accommodation or travel arrangements patients and carers may need whilst in China. Patients have planned ‘time off’ between cycles of treatment and often choose to take this time to get away from the hospital and explore other parts of China. Macau and Hong Kong are also popular destinations. Having an experienced travel agent who speaks English and is able to take care of your travel needs whilst in a foreign country is invaluable. Being able to send an email or pick up the phone and just get things done is a relief and comforting to many. We are happy to be able to make this process easier for our cherished patients and give them one less thing to worry about. The team at SPDT 4 LIFE are proud to be associated with helloworld Rowville and together we look forward to supporting and assisting our VIP patients and their loved ones for many years to come. For a ‘Travel Information Pack’ which includes step-by-step instructions and documents to guide you through all that is required to travel to SPDT 4 LIFE in China, please contact Lucy Li at [email protected] This pack is also available to download in our ‘Patients Login’ member’s area for those who have booked their treatment at SPDT 4 LIFE.43

Multiple osseous metastases (the 3rd and 4th thoracic vertebrae and accessories, 11th and 12th thoracic vertebrae, 4th left rib, 4th and 5th right ribs, sacrum and bilateral iliac). After surgery of sigmoid colon cancer, no obvious signs of recurrence. Multiple mild hypermetabolic lymph nodes in bilateral hila and mediastinum are considered as inflammatory hyperplasia. Treatment: Four cycles of SPDT with chemotherapy Dec 2015--Mar 2016 Outcome: Pain under control, improved appetite. Partial Response confirmed by PET/CT, After the resection of left mammary adenocarcinoma, compared to the former scan (2015-12-9), the former multiple pulmonary metastases have now disappeared, implied that the activity has been subdued. The FDG uptake of former multiple osseous metastases) is generally lower and some are returned to normal, indicated the activity of osseous metastases with a little residual. After surgery of sigmoid colon cancer, no obvious signs of recurrence, same as before. The size of the former multiple mild hypermetabolic lymph nodes in bilateral hilar and mediastinum considered as inflammatory hyperplasia are decreased and metabolism has returned to normal.
