Live Broadcast Using Open Broadcster Software YouTube Live Broadcasting with OBS Stream Key Items Needed: • Image Capturing Device (Video camera) • Staff configured Desktop • Two Monitors • Microphone(s) Optional Items: • Green Screen • Extra Lighting Configuration Steps: • Select machine to host Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) • Collect NISD# Tag Number from the Desktop CPU • Submit a Work Order to have OBS installed to selected machine (TSS can help with this) • After the software is installed complete initial Setup Initial Set-Up YouTube Set-Up 1 1. Log into Campus Resource Account through MyNISD Portal. 2. Click the Gmail App tile. • Campus Resource Email Account will open. 3. From the Campus Resource Email Account page click the Apps grid in the top right corner. • Google Apps selection pane will open. 4. From this pane click the YouTube App. • Resource YouTube account will open. 5. In the top right corner left click the Create a video or post icon. • A selection pane will open. 6. From this pane left click the Go live option. • This will prompt a New stream window. 7. Live Broadcast Using Open Broadcster Software • Select Education • Click blue Create Stream button 8. Stream key Setup window will open. 9. At this point minimize the Chrome browser used for YouTube initial Setup and start the OBS Initial Setup. OBS Initial Setup Auto Configuration Wizard 2 1. From the Broadcast computer double-click the OBS icon to start the program. 2. When prompted, “Would you like to run the auto-configuration wizard?” click Yes. Usage Information 1. “Specify what you want to use the program for”. • Choose Optimize for Streaming, recording is secondary 2. Click Next. Video Settings 1. Base Canvas Resolution choose Use Current 2. Frames Per Second (FPS) select Either 60 or 30, but prefer 60 when possible 3. Click Next. Stream information 1. In the Service input box click the selection arrows and select YouTube/YouTube Gaming. 2. In the Server input box click the selection arrows and select Primary YouTube ingest server. Stream Key 1. Maximize the browser used in the Initial YouTube Setup Stream Preview page. 2. Click the Copy button next to the Stream name/key (paste in encoder) section. Go back to the OBS wizard by minimizing the browser you just copied the stream key from. • In the Stream Key input box, right-click in the box, select Paste to insert the copied Stream key from YouTube. • Ensure Prefer hardware encoding box is checked and click Next. • A Final Results box will pop-up, double check to make sure your information is correct click Apply Settings. • YouTube Stream key is now synced with OBS software. OBS Broadcaster Window Configuration Source Selection 1. From the Sources tab click the + button and select Window Capture. • New box will open. 2. Select Create New. • Name device whatever you want to name it. 3. Click OK. • Properties tab will open. 4. In the Device section click the Up/Down arrow on the far right of the box. • A list of usable devices will open. 5. Select the device you want to use for streaming. 6. Click OK. Microphone Selection 1. In the mixer section all available/attached mics will appear. 2. Ensure the bars are moving for attached/preferred microphone. 3. You can slide the bar left or right to adjust for gain. NOTE: At the highest peak the bars should never reach the red zone or the broadcast sound will become distorted.
