TENTANG PENULIS Dr. Ir. Abdul Haris Mustari, M.Sc., lahir di Bone, Sulawesi Selatan. Sekolah lanjutan atas ditempuh di SMPP Negeri 30 Watampone, lulus sarjana Kehutanan dari Institut Pertanian Bogor; Master of Science dari George-August University, Gottingen (Germany) dengan tesis berjudul Population and behaviour of lowland anoa Bubalus depressicornis in Tanjung Amolengu Wildlife Reserve, SE Sulawesi; dan Doctor of Philosophy dari University of New England (Australia) dengan disertasi berjudul Ecology and conservation of lowland anoa Bubalus depressicornis in Sulawesi. Semenjak tahun 1994 penulis melakukan kegiatan penelitian mengenai keanekaragaman hayati dan konservasi berjangka panjang di Bio-Region Wallacea, serta ekspedisi ilmiah di Sumatera, Kalimantan, Jawa, Kepulauan Nusatenggara, Maluku dan Papua. Pada tahun 2012, penulis adalah peserta ekspedisi, tenaga ahli bidang kehutanan dan bidang flora fauna serta penulis buku Ekspedisi Khatulistiwa 2012 Kalimantan dan Ekspedisi NKRI koridor Sulawesi tahun 2013 yang dikoordinir oleh TNI. Penulis mengajar mata kuliah Ekologi Satwaliar, Inventarisasi dan Pemantauan Satwaliar, dan Ekologi dan Konservasi Satwaliar di Departemen Konservasi Sumberdaya Hutan dan Ekowisata, Fakultas Kehutanan Institut Pertanian Bogor. Buku yang telah ditulis di antaranya Manual Identifikasi Beberapa Spesies Kunci di Sulawesi, Buku Panduan Lapang Mamalia Kampus IPB Dramaga, Buku Panduan Lapang Burung Kampus IPB Dramaga, Mengenal Amfibi dan Reptil Kampus IPB Dramaga, Kupu-kupu di wilayah kampus IPB Dramaga.
