Camberley Town 3 2AFC Croydon Athletic At Krooner Park Saturday 7th January Att: 55 It seemed touch and go as to whether this attack. On 24 minutes, Tyrone Pink game would be played but an early applies a fine finish as he curls it into the inspection passed it as fit and despite some net to make it all square. Whilst further heavy rain it went ahead. The Camberley have had their share of chances pitch was difficult for both teams to play on it feels that the Rams can now press on. and certainly was a factor throughout. That said, after a series of postponements it Another sloppy moment at the back and was good to get a run out. Camberley were ahead again just two This was a game that was decided by three goals that on another day would not have troubled the scoreline. The home side seemed to take advantage of from lax defending early on to gift Camberley an opening goal with their first minutes into the second half. This time it was Emiliano Lika who was on the end of some good play to slot the ball home to level again. With twenty minutes to go it was time to push but once again, a sloppy moment at the back and Camberley took full advantage. This time, there was no coming back and Camberley picked up all the points and left the Rams to rue missed chances and poor defending.

Welcome to Frimley Green Year Formed: 1919 Club Nickname: The Frimmers Distance travelled: 39 miles to get here Recent league form: 9 points from 22 games League Position: 20th Last visit: 4th September 2021 History AFC Croydon Athletic 2 Frimley Green 0 The club was established in 1919 and won the Surrey Junior Cup in 1927–28. They later joined the Surrey Intermediate League, and after winning back-to-back titles in 1958–59 and 1959–60, they joined the Surrey Senior League. The step up proved difficult and the club initially struggled in the new league, finishing bottom in 1962–63. However, the late 1960s saw several top-half finishes. After finishing bottom of the league again in 1973–74, the club joined the Spartan League. When it merged with the Metropolitan–London League in 1975 to form the London Spartan League, the club were placed in Division Two. They were promoted to Division One at the end of the 1975– 76 season. In 1977 Division One became the Premier Division, and Frimley Green remained in the division until being relegated to the Senior Division in 1979–80. After one season in the Senior Division the club transferred to the Western Division of the Combined Counties League. At the end of their first season in the league it was reduced to a single division. The club won the league's Elite Cup in 1990–91, but left the league after finishing bottom of the table in 1993–94, returning to the Surrey Intermediate League. They won the League Cup in 1998–99, also finishing as league runners-up, earning promotion to the Surrey County Senior League. The club finished as runners-up in the Surrey County Senior League in 2001–02 and were promoted back to the Combined Counties League. The league gained a second division in 2003, with Frimley Green becoming members of the Premier Division. However, they were relegated to Division One at the end of the 2005–06 season. The club were Division One champions in 2012–13 and were promoted back to the Premier Division. However, after finishing bottom of the division in 2014–15, they were relegated to Division One again. In 2018–19 the club won the Division One Cup and were runners-up in Division One, earning promotion to the Premier Division.

1 The weather and the football computer 2 means that there is a long wait for our next away game. Three successive home Saturdays means it will be the middle of February. The trip to Knaphill should be one to look forward to as the early games between the two team produced lots of goals but recent matches have been much tighter and this corresponding fixture last year ended in a goalless draw. In the car, head toward the A3 and head south. You can follow it down towards Guildford before leaving the road just before you reach the town to head cross-country toward Knaphill. Alternatively, you can leave the A3 just before you reach the M25 and join the A245. Keeping on this road you will pass Horsell Common (the landing site for the Martians in HG Wells’ War of the Worlds). Follow the road into Knaphill and head toward Brookwood Park. There is plenty of parking (satnav GU21 2AY). By train the nearest station is Brookwood which is a 20 minute walk away.

Junior Section There is County Cup action tomorrow for both the U15 teams and our U16 Falcons. The U15 Hawks and the U16s both play at home whilst the U15 Stars have an away game to tackle. The season has been interrupted somewhat by the weather but hopefully there is now a clear run toward the end of the season. The Under 16 Falcons still have a 100% record in the league having won six out of six. Whilst there are still plenty of games to play they are well placed. The Surrey Cup, against Oxted & District (who are currently bottom in the Division above) pose an interesting test.
