It was at the height of cam- paigns for the Kibaki succession and it was becoming a big head- ache as to who would be the next President after Kibaki. Ruto was gearing to run for the Presidency on his Party United Republican Party ( URP ) while Uhuru had acquired The National Alliance Party ( TNA ). Raila Odinga was an obvi- ous Presidential candidate on his Orange Democratic Party ( ODM ) and he was the candi- date to beat from all fronts. If Uhuru ran alone in his TNA party and Ruto on his URP party, Raila Odinga could have beaten them early morning hands down. It is here that Uhuru made the famous clarion pronounce- ment,” Yangu kumi na ya William kumi” - ( mine ten and Willaim’s ten ) to the chagrin of the whole Land and Nation. Uhuru removed his red TNA cap and placed it on Ruto’s head and Ruto also did the same, removed his yellow cap and placed it on Uhuru’s head. 2013 Presidential cam- paigns started instantly where the incident spread like bushfire, not only in Kenya but in the African continent and eventually globally. The entire Kalenjin and Gikuyu Nations went ablaze where other regions joined the frenzied Uhuruto TNA/URP cam- paign trail with gusto and excite- ment. The duo just looked un- beatable and Raila’s campaign machine got slowed down with the might of the Kenyatta and Ruto enthusiastic campaign ma- chinery that got, peradventure, Mwai Kibaki government’s sup- port though unpronounced. Uhuruto won the following year 2013 Presidential election with ease but not without bruises as post election violence broke out in the country that resulted in great loss of lives for so many Kenyans and destruction of mas- sive public and private properties. The bitter end result was the indictment of both the new President and his Deputy by the International Criminal Court (ICC)

In Raila Odinga out William Ruto decision by the ’boss’ and got themselves right into the band- wagon and off they went throughout the whole country campaigning and they won. Some people however re- mained suspicious with Uhuru’s moves as he would do things alone without consulting anybody but again he was the powerful unquestionable boss and every- thing he did and said was the fi- nal verdict. William Ruto would suffer the same fate one year after the 2017 election as the same Uhuru single handedly and without mentioning it to Ruto went to look for their common political rival Raila Odinga and whom Uhuru invited to join the Jubilee government again to the aston- ishment of Uhuru’s Deputy Ruto himself, Jubilee members, ODM and all Raila’s supporters akina Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and many others as Raila didn't alert his men either. Everybody saw the Press briefing outside the staircases of Harambee House that houses the office of the President where Uhuru and Raila shook hands and vowed to work together as twin brothers. Kalonzo’s and Mudavadi’s, Weta’s and many others’ protestations never shook UhuruRaila Handshake and they were told, inadvertently though, that they accept the new govern- ment shape or ship out. They slowly and sheep- ishly and grudgingly joined the new UhuruRaila Order and just kept quiet. This change mostly affect- ed the Deputy President William Ruto as he was no longer dis- charging his official duties as the second in command, a role that seemed to have been usurped by Raila Odinga.
