The day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of the greatest philosophers and spiritual leaders. We at SSRVM BE celebrated National Youth Day to create awareness and provide knowledge about the rights of people in India. 48

The movement of the sun into ‘Makara Raashi’ or the ‘zodiac of Capricorn’ is called Makar Sankranti. This festival marks the end of the long, cold, winter months and the onset of spring. In ancient times, it was the time when the shift of the sun resulted in longer days. So, it is a celebration of the change of seasons - from a harsher to a milder climate. A sign of hope and positivity. This festival is celebrated in honor of Surya (the Sun God) to pay tribute for the grace of his energy that has enabled life and food on Earth. As it is the harvest festival, it is a time of joy, abundance, and celebration in the farming communities, the time when they reap the fruits of their hard labor. It is also a time for peace when families bury the hatchet and get together. At SSRVM BE we celebrated Makar Sankranti with great pomp and fervor. 49
SSRVM Magazine Bengaluru East January 2022 SPECIAL ASSEMBLY AND CELEBRATIONS Indian Army Day Army Day is celebrated on January 15th every year to honor the soldiers of the country, who have set the greatest example of selfless service and brotherhood and more than anything the love for the country. On the 73rd Indian Army Day, the Indian Army will organize a marathon 'Vijay Run' to commemorate Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations of India's resounding victory over Pakistan in 1971. The nation also pays tribute to the valor of the brave hearts on this day and thank them for their selfless service. Students were oriented about awareness and importance of army was created among the students. 50
SSRVM Magazine Bengaluru East January 2022 SPECIAL ASSEMBLY AND CELEBRATIONS International Day of Education The International Day of Education was celebrated at SSRVM BE January on 24th 2022. Since 2018, Jan 24th is celebrated as International Education Day. This year marks the fourth year of celebration, and the theme is ‘Changing Course, Transforming Education’. It was proclaimed in 2018 by United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The day is celebrated as it marks the importance of education in ensuring peace and development. Children were made aware of the significance of this day. 51
SSRVM Magazine Bengaluru East January 2022 SPECIAL ASSEMBLY AND CELEBRATIONS Republic Day The 72nd Republic Day was celebrated with pride and reverence at SSRVM BE. The ceremony began with the unfurling of the tricolor flag. This was followed by the National Anthem to pay tribute to the motherland. The cultural celebrations, in the virtual platform included, recorded dance, music and speech by the students. Listening to and singing patriotic songs, triggered many emotions, pride, love and respect for the country in the students' and teachers' mind. 52
SSRVM Magazine Bengaluru East January 2022 SPECIAL ASSEMBLY AND CELEBRATIONS Martyrs’ Day Martyrs' Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas, is observed across the country on 30th January every year. The day marks the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. On this day, Indians remember the slain freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the country's Independence. At SSRVM BE, we imbibe great values in our children, so that they become ambassadors of these values as they grow to be responsible citizens of the country. Keeping this in mind, Martyrs Day was observed to pay homage to the victims who fought for the freedom, welfare and progress of India and sacrificed their lives. 53

The event aims to trigger the innovative outlooks and ideas of our young prodigies who may trigger to solve the present- day challenges. Annual Science Exhibition is an opportunity for all our students’ to use their creativity and imagination. 54
